The deposition will take place on April 9, 2024 at the offices of O’Melveny & Myers LLP, according to the filing, and will be done under oath, “for the purpose of discovery or other purposes, including trial.”
The lawsuit is one of the remaining legal battles between Governor Ron DeSantis, the CFTOD board, and the Walt Disney Company. This particular suit was filed by CFTOD back in May 2023, following Disney’s federal lawsuit against the board and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis over “a targeted campaign of government retaliation” after Disney spoke out against DeSantis’ “Don’t Say Gay” bill.
Disney’s federal lawsuit was dismissed in January 2024; the company promptly filed an intent to appeal to the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
Disney has also sued the CFTOD over withholding of public records, which will go to trial in June 2024. Disney filed a motion for entry of protective order was filed on February 1 asking the state court to allow them to designate discovery materials as confidential to avoid the revealing of trade secrets.
