Things are always changing in Disney World.
Rides close. New rides get built. Entire lands get reimagined. New foods pop up ALL the time (our FAVE new things, obviously). But even from day to day, things can change, like hours for showtimes, parades, and even rides. Well, there’s a big change coming up with one ride in Disney World that we need to warn you about.
So, as you may know, Kilimanjaro Safaris in Disney’s Animal Kingdom generally closes earlier than the park does. That’s because the ride closes before sunset because it gets too dark. Now, this hasn’t ALWAYS been the case and, at one point, you could take a safari at night, but over the past few years, Disney has decided it’s best for the animals, Cast Members, and visitors this way.
Well, Daylight Saving Time starts on March 10th, which means we’ve been expecting the hours for Kilimanjaro Safaris to change after that since it will be getting darker later. We checked on the Disney World website and saw that the ride closes at 5:45PM on March 9th and then closes later, at 6:45PM on March 10th.
However, the hours seem to change again later. On March 17th, the ride closes at 6PM. We’re not entirely sure what’s up with that, but we wanted to give you a heads up, just in case.
Now, these hours COULD change before then. We recommend checking those hours before you head to the park so you can make sure you get to the ride (if it’s a priority) before it closes. You can check hours on the Disney World website or through the My Disney Experience app.
This is a ride that we will ALWAYS recommend in Animal Kingdom, and the beauty of it is that it’s never the same twice because you NEVER know what the animals are going to do. You’ll get to see animals in a habitat as close to their natural habitats as possible while getting some interesting details about their lives on the savannah.
