Experts Think Disney World Could Add a 5th Park — Here Are 3 Clues About What Could Be In It

Could Disney World be in store for a MASSIVE expansion?

Disney World

Last year, Disney announced that $60 billion would be allocated toward expansion over a decade and experts have been speculating what that massive budget could yield. From new themed lands to larger-scale expansions, the Disney Parks have the opportunity to grow exponentially, especially at Disney World. In fact, it’s possible we could see a fifth Disney theme park show up in Florida!

Speculation about a fifth Disney World park has been prevalent for decades now and has only gotten stronger due to the pressure applied by the nearby Universal Orlando Resort’s expansion. Disney World is legitimately being challenged for Central Florida theme park supremacy and will need more than just land changes and ride refurbishments to maintain its stature as king of theme park resorts.

In early 2023, Disney confirmed that a fifth Disney World theme park was in play, and, according to WFLA, 70% of the $60 billion will be invested in incremental capacity, “referencing growing attractions.” During Disney’s Q1 earnings call on February 7th, 2024, The Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger danced around the idea of a fifth Disney World park but didn’t deny it.

“We’re already hard at work, basically determining where we’re going to place our new investments and what they will be,” said Iger. He then alluded to upgrades being made at every Disney location worldwide, including the Disney Cruise Line. With Disney World being a major focus for Disney, we can assume the Florida theme park resort will get some TLC, perhaps in the form of a new park.

So what could we see at this fifth park? Let’s speculate!

D23 Clues

In 2022, Disney teased possible Magic Kingdom expansions at D23 Expo and the conversation came up a year later at Destination D23, with Disney doubling down on the Magic Kingdom plans. During a panel, Disney executives described the plans as something akin to the scale of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge with new attractions, shopping, and restaurants. If those expansion plans moved to a fifth park, what could they look like?

Possible Land Expansion in Magic Kingdom ©Disney

Disney previously confirmed a retheme of Dinoland U.S.A. at Disney’s Animal Kingdom to a Tropical Americas land. Some possible options for the land have centered around Zootopia, Encanto, Moana, and Indiana Jones. Those Magic Kingdom expansion plans have included talk of a Coco and a Disney villain-themed land, so we could see one or multiple of these ideas come to fruition at a fifth park.

DisneylandForward Clues

The reality of it all is that we’re too far out from the full conceptualization of a fifth park to accurately speculate what we could see in said park. However, it’s also fair to assume Disney has been leaving breadcrumbs. Disneyland is currently in the process of trying to get planned expansion — DisneylandForward — approved, and they have listed some concrete examples as to what might be included in that expansion.

©Disney

Over at Disneyland Park, Disney has teased Tangled and Peter Pan-themed lands and attractions, while Disney California Adventure could include Frozen, Zootopia, Toy Story, and Tron attractions and lands. DisneylandForward also includes new hotels, shops, and restaurants that could all be installed if the plan is improved.

So why does California’s DisneylandForward matter for a fifth theme park at Florida’s Walt Disney World? DisneylandForward has taken a lot of inspiration from the latest developments at Disney Parks in Europe, Asia, and, yes, Disney World. This indicates that Disney could be looking to duplicate or expand upon existing lands, attractions, and ideas into its newest parks and expansions.

NEW Intellectual Property?

©21st Century Fox

The Walt Disney Company looks A LOT Different today than it did back in 1998 when Disney World opened its fourth theme park, Animal Kingdom. For starters, Disney now owns Pixar, 21st Century Fox, Lucasfilm, and Marvel Studios. Disney has already played with Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Pixar, and Marvel’s Avengers-themed lands and rides, it’s likely Disney keeps collecting and using different intellectual property like Thanos collecting infinity stones.

ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex

Just this month, Disney partnered with Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery to make a joint sports streaming platform. As Disney continues to work with other companies outside of the Disney bubble, it only further heightens the possibility that Disney expands its IP collection either through partnerships or purchases.

The possibility of a fifth Disney World park is incredibly exciting and while nothing is concrete as of now, we can’t wait to bring you any and all future updates — so stay tuned here at DFB for all the latest!

6 Hotel Pool Rules You Have to Know Before Your Next Disney World Trip

If you clicked on this post, it’s probably because you’re like me and need to plan ahead and know all the rules and requirements before you do anything.

Pool Rules at Disney’s Pop Century Resort

If I’m going to a new restaurant, I will absolutely look up the menu ahead of time so that I know what I’m going to order once I’m there. Want to go see a movie with me? Hold on, please — I need to look up every review first. And if I’m going to swim at a Disney World hotel pool, you can bet I need to know the rules before I go!

For all of us anxious planners, I put together this list of six hotel pool rules you need to know if you want to go swimming during your next Disney World vacation!

Food and Drink Are NOT Allowed in the Pool

Look at that preposition carefully — food and drinks are not allowed IN the pool, but you’re more than welcome to enjoy your eats BY the pool.

Relax by your resort pool!

Guests can bring their own food and drinks to enjoy by the pool, and most pools even have pool bars and nearby quick service restaurants that you can visit to grab a bite to eat or a fun drink.

The Drop Off Pool Bar at Art of Animation

Just make sure to keep all the food and drinks out of the actual pool!

Glass Containers Are Prohibited

While we’re on the subject of bringing things to the pool, I should mention that glass containers of any kind are definitely not allowed in the pool OR the pool area.

This couldn’t come into the pool area!

If you have a drink in a glass container, you’ll need to leave it in your hotel room (or pour it into a non-glass container).

Keep an Eye on Your Little Ones!

It’s required at all Disney World hotel pools that children under the age of 12 must have adult supervision.

Keep an eye on your kids!

So, no sending the kiddos to the pool while the parents grab an afternoon nap in the hotel room or head off to the adults-only Victoria & Albert’s Restaurant! You’ll have to wait until they’re 12 years old or older for that.

Swim Diapers Are Required for Kiddos in Diapers

Any diaper-age child must wear a swim diaper in the hotel pools.

Doubloon Lagoon Pool

This rule is for safety and sanitation purposes. According to the CDC, “Swim diapers can delay diarrhea-causing germs, like Cryptosporidium, from leaking into the water.” However, the CDC notes that “even though swim diapers and swim pants might hold in some solid feces, they are not leakproof,” which is why Disney also has a DIARRHEA rule that you need to follow.

Click here to learn about that Diarrhea rule!

Water Play Areas are for Kiddos Only

While we’re on the subject of kiddos at the pool, you should know that those water play areas are for the little ones only.

Splash Pad

Most hotel pools in Disney World also have some kind of water splash pad or toddler pool area. Kids must be 48″ or under in order to use these amenities.

You CAN’T Pool Hop…Usually

There are some pretty awesome hotel pools in Disney World, but you usually CAN’T swim at a pool if you’re not staying at that hotel.

There are a few exceptions to that rule:

  • If you’re staying at Port Orleans — French Quarter, you’re welcome to spend some time lounging by the Doubloon Lagoon Pool, but you’re also welcome to visit Port Orleans — Riverside, where you’ll find Ol’ Man Island. It’s home to a large pool, a spa, a kiddie pool, a wading pool, and a short but fun water slide.

Ol’ Man Island

  • If you have an upcoming trip planned for any of the three All-Star Resorts in Disney World, you’re in luck. No matter which All-Star Resort you might be staying at (Sports, Music, or Movies) you can visit any of the All-Star pools! At All-Star Music, there are the Calypso and Piano Pools, All-Star Movies has the Fantasia and Duck Pond Pools, and at All-Star Sports, you’ll find the Surfboard Bay and Grand Slam Pools.

Grand Slam Pool

  • Folks who stay at Disney’s Yacht Club and Disney’s Beach Club Resorts have their choice of pools at both of these resorts, too! For those looking for some leisurely hangs, you can check out the Tidal, Admiral, and Dunes Cove Pools. But the best pool at Yacht & Beach Club — and quite possibly all of Disney World — is Stormalong Bay. It features a sand-bottom pool, a pirate ship slide, and a lazy river.

BRAND NEW Look INSIDE Disney’s Peter Pan, Frozen, and Tangled Theme Park Expansion Opening in June!

We’re counting down the days until Disney’s NEWEST theme park expansion, Fantasy Springs at Tokyo DisneySea, opens on June 6th, 2024!

©Disney

Fantasy Springs features three kingdoms: Rapunzel’s ForestPeter Pan’s Never Land, and Frozen Kingdom. Inside the new lands, there are new rides, attractions, and restaurants, and we just got a brand-new look!

Tokyo DisneySea just released NEW videos with looks inside the Tangled, Frozen, and Peter Pan lands coming to Fantasy Springs and we’re sharing some of the highlights!

Frozen Kingdom

Inside Frozen Kingdom, you’ll find a new ride called Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey, which takes visitors on a boat ride through the Frozen story. This sounds very similar to the Frozen Ever After ride in EPCOT, but we’ll have to wait and see!

©Disney

Not only that, but the land will feature two restaurants: the Royal Banquet of Arendelle and Oaken’s OK Foods.

The Royal Banquet of Arendelle is a quick service restaurant that seats about 570 guests, located inside the Arendelle Castle. From what we can tell, there will be a few dining rooms including one reminiscent of the Grand Hall and another that looks like the art gallery.

©Disney

Disney said, “Guests who visit this restaurant will be able to join the celebratory banquet and enjoy an offering called ‘Arendelle’s Royal Set.’” This meal is served to guests in a basket and has a full spread of appetizers, entrées, and dessert.

Arendelle’s Royal Set

At Oaken’s OK Foods, Oaken’s Yoo-Hoo Bread (Cardamom & Meat) is “a variation on the cardamom rolls, a Scandinavian specialty.” The bread is filled with spiced meat and lingonberry jam.

Rapunzel’s Forest

Disney shared, “In Rapunzel’s Forest, guests will be transported into the world of the Disney Animation film, Tangled, where the long-haired princess Rapunzel has lived since she was a child.”

©Disney

Guests will be able to experience Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival — the very first Rapunzel attraction in any Disney park. On the ride, guests will encounter Rapunzel and the legendary thief, Flynn Rider, and see their love blossom at the Lantern Festival.

©Disney

We’re especially excited about a REAL LIFE Snuggly Duckling restaurant! It’ll be a counter-service spot “where Rapunzel befriends the local rough-and-tumble crowd in the film.” The interior of the restaurant brings to life the world of the film in its rooms, recreating places from the film such as the tavern and stable. Guests can delight in gazing upon the décor, which depicts the happily-ever-after stories of the tavern’s lovable ruffians.

Here it is!!

And, you’ll be able to eat the Duckling’s Dream Cheeseburger, which includes a juicy patty and sausage sandwiched between a yellow duck-colored bun.

That is a BRIGHT yellow bun!

For those with a sweet tooth, the restaurant will offer the Sweet Ever After Dessert (Lemon and Strawberry), which is inspired by Rapunzel’s memorable line from the film, “And we’re living happily ever after.”

How PRETTY!

This dessert is served in a container shaped like a frying pan, which Rapunzel uses to protect herself in the film. See a preview of the land in this video below.

Peter Pan’s Never Land

Peter Pan’s Never Land “invites guests to explore the world of the Disney Animation film,” and will be home to two attractions and a counter-service restaurant.

©Disney

In Peter Pan’s Never Land Adventure, guests join Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, and the Lost Kids on an epic adventure through Never Land to rescue John from Captain Hook and his band of pirates.

©Disney

Fairy Tinker Bell’s Busy Buggies “is an attraction located in Pixie Hollow, the fairy valley in Never Land where Tinker Bell lives. In this attraction, guests board a Busy Buggy, a vehicle made by Tinker Bell, and explore the fairy valley and its changing seasons.”

As far as eats over here go, Lookout Cookout is a hideout created by the Lost Kids that also serves as a counter-service restaurant made from parts of a shipwreck that washed ashore in Never Land.

Lookout Cookout in Fantasy Springs

On the menu are items inspired by the Lost Kids and their self-made hideout, such as Lost Kids’ Snack Box that includes chicken tenders, seaweed fritters, banana chips, and shrimp chips, and a Pixie Dust Soda (Kiwi) that comes with a star-shaped topping that dissolves into the drink, creating a silver sparkling effect inspired by Tinker Bell’s magical pixie dust.

It’s pixie dusted!
