With much of the Canada Pavilion being behind construction walls since June of 2023, the pavilion is finally almost entirely open, as we spotted the walls finally taken down.

Canada Pavilion Construction

The area to the right of Trading Post was walled off during construction. Guests could not go to the higher tier of the Canada Pavilion. Now, those walls have been removed.

The space doesn’t have much to offer in terms of entertainment or shopping, but it’s a beautiful quiet spot resembling a Canadian village street. There is a retro red telephone booth and payphone.

There are stone building façades. Guests can view the rockwork and waterfalls of the pavilion from above.

At the back of the upper level, stairs lead down to the “Canada Far and Wide” theater.

Hotel du Canada

Hotel du Canada, a fictional hotel modeled after the real-life Château Laurier hotel in Ottawa, was a major reason for the construction walls, as the entire facade got a refresh. The stone exterior was once shades of tan and is now more gray. The roof, which was previously copper, is now a weathered green with patina. The roof has had a similar coloration in previous refurbishment updates. The windows and dormers on the upper floors were also updated.

Hotel du Canada was once home to the shop Le Boutiques des Provinces. The boutique closed many years ago, long before this most recent refurbishment. The fake hotel is now closed to guests and only used by Cast Members.

Scaffolding was removed from around Hotel du Canada earlier this month. Now scaffolding and construction walls are gone from the entrance to Le Cellier Steakhouse, the “basement” restaurant of Hotel du Canada.

The restaurant was still open during construction, but guests had to walk through a tunnel of construction walls and scaffolding to reach it. Le Cellier opens daily at noon for lunch and then dinner.

Canada Far and Wide

The removal of construction walls means guests can once again walk down the stairs among the rocks outside “Canada Far and Wide,” the Circle-Vision 360 show in the Canada Pavilion. The 12-minute movie opened in January 2020, replacing “O Canada!” It’s narrated by Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy.

Northwest Mercantile Construction

Trading Post is open, but as we noted last week, Northwest Mercantile is now closed for refurbishment. There is a black scrim up in Trading Post, preventing guests from entering Northwest Mercantile.
