With the addition of Universal’s new park, Epic Universe, and Disney’s announcement of approximately $60 billion to be invested in the parks in the next ten years, we can’t help but wonder what the future holds for Disney Parks. One of Disney’s “Blue Sky” projects includes the addition of a villains-themed land in Magic Kingdom, and we want to know what will be included!
We turned to our favorite Disney experts, YOU, to find out what NEEDS to be included in a Villains-themed land in Magic Kingdom. Let’s just say, we think you should all be imagineers because you had some pretty amazing ideas!
Before we get into what needs to be included, we wanted to note that this project is still a “Blue Sky” project. A “blue sky” idea may be years away or may never happen. Disney announced the concept for a villain-themed land back in 2022. That means it has been a few years and we have not heard any more about this idea from Disney. It garnered a lot of traction when it was announced, and many Disney fans are keeping their fingers crossed for this land!
We have carefully analyzed each part of the concept art released by Disney in 2022. Behind the proposed Encanto and Coco lands you can see what appears to be a villains area. We saw what looked like a gate into the land, spires that resemble Maleficent’s castle on Forbidden Mountain and possibly a figure that looks like Chernabog. However, beyond the green haze and tops of buildings, not much has been shown regarding what could be included in a Villains-themed land.
Read about all our discoveries in Disney’s concept art from D23!
Although that did not stop our readers from imagining what could be! You all got us so excited about the potential for this land, and we are sharing some of the most popular ideas!
Emperor’s New Groove Rollercoaster
This one had resounding support and so many of our readers want this! We think this would be AMAZING! Karen wrote the land needs a, “Yzma coaster! Pull the lever!”, Jessica also agreed, “The ride from Emperor’s New Groove!!” and Gail also wants to see this adding, “how about an Yzma and Kronk roller coaster – PULL THE LEVERRRRRRR!”
An Yzma rollercoaster has so much potential, and I think we would all be screaming along with the iconic “Pull the lever!” line!
Maleficent’s Castle
Another very popular mention was Maleficent’s Castle. There was a bit of a debate on whether they should have another castle in Magic Kingdom, but if they do it seems like there is a strong desire for it to be Maleficent’s Castle! Bob goes even farther and said there should be, “Two castles, evil queen one and a Maleficent one with an interactive roller coaster running between them both.”
We think Maleficent’s Castle meeting you when you walk in would be the perfect, daunting centerpiece!
Hades Ride and Meet & Greet
Hades got a lot of love from our readers! So many of you want to see a Hades Ride and a Hades Meet & Greet. Chrissy said, “I need a Hades meet and greet like I need air.” Anthony wants to see a Hades ride that is, “a pirates type boat ride that takes you along the river Styx while Hades tries to stop Hercules from saving Megura.”
We loved getting to meet Hades at the Oogie Boogie Bash and he definitely deserves a place in this new area!
Ursula Water Ride
Ursula was mentioned by lots of our readers, and there were so many ride ideas! Two of our favorites came from Angie and Nikki. Angie said, “I think a wild boat ride where Ursula tosses you around the ocean would be cool,” and Nikki said, “a concept like dumbo, but instead Ursula …. with the carts being Ursula’s tentacles something like that.”
Nightmare Before Christmas Attraction
Disneyland gets to experience a Nightmare Before Christmas attraction when Haunted Mansion gets its yearly overlay, but we also think the villains-themed land needs a bit of Oogie Boogie! Michael also agrees and says the land needs, “a proper Nightmare Before Christmas attraction. Like riding on Jack’s sleigh and dodging the canon fire. Survive an encounter with Oogie Boogie.”
Cruella de Ville Car Ride
There were many comments saying you wanted thrill rides in the expansion. Many of you wanted Cruella de Ville to be incorporated in the land. Lesley suggested a, “car ride with Cruella DeVille.” Navigating the busy streets of London with Cruella as your guide sounds like a frightfully good time!
Cave of Wonders Drop Ride
Next up, the land needs to include a Cave of Wonders ride. Justin has the perfect ride idea: “A drop ride like tower of terror, where you are in the cave of wonders recovering the lamp for Jafar. And when you get to the top Jafar changes from the old man to his normal self and then you drop. Then Abu appears at the bottom and reveals he stole the lamp back and the ride vehicle carries you through a dark ride portion where the Genie gets released and sings to you. The end.”
Bringing the thrills and a surprise visit from the Genie himself, we are a fan!
Bring Back Snow White’s Scary Adventures
We have one final honorable mention for a ride that needs to be brought BACK to Magic Kingdom. Our readers are rooting for the return of Snow White’s Scary Adventures, Karen said, “Bring back Snow White’s Scary Adventure — one of my very favorites!!!” We are hoping for this alongside you!
We think your ideas would make for villainous experience! We don’t know which element we are most excited for! Here’s to hoping that Disney moves forward with this “blue sky” idea and takes all your ideas into consideration!
