Guests living in the United Kingdom may find themselves unable to book online reservations for Walt Disney World, due to privacy laws put in place.

A guest living in the United Kingdom reached out to WDWNT, explaining that they were given an error message after attempting to book dining reservations at the 60-day mark for their Easter Walt Disney World vacation. This happened both on the My Disney Experience app and the Walt Disney World website. They resolved the issue by using the website’s chat service, where a Cast Member booked each of their requested reservations one by one.

With less than 30 days until the vacation, the guest still received the error message. They again reached out for help:

A cast member advised we uninstall apps and book via website, but, within two seconds when trying to make a reservation, the dreaded error message appears: ‘We’re sorry your session has timed out and your reservation has been released.’

We cannot get confirmation if things will change when we visit the Parks or arrive in the States.  We are worried we can’t order quick service when at the park, etc.

The guest eventually contacted the Walt Disney World Sales and Solutions team, and was given the below explanation.

Due to the communication laws in place regarding the sharing of personal information via the web for many countries, at this time, certain Disney Dining Experiences and Enchanting Extras reservations are unavailable to be booked through our international website and app. These laws are in place to protect you and ensure your private information remains private.

For assistance with booking these reservations, international Guests are welcome to speak with a local travel agent regarding their vacation needs or contact us by phone. Cast Members would be happy to help!

Once again, thank you for contacting us. We sincerely hope that we will have an opportunity to entertain you soon.

This change to the dining and extras booking process certainly adds an extra step to vacation planning, as getting on the phone with a Cast Member to make reservations takes more time than a guest booking those reservations on their own via the app or website.
