Disney’s Old Key West has new merchandise including a tote bag, MagicBand+, sunhat, and Disney Vacation Club ball cap. These items are available at the resort’s Conch Flats General Store.
Old Key West Tote – $44.99
The tote bag has two white rope handles. The sides of the bag feature a pattern of green and blue palm fronds. The bottom of the bag is woven from fake straw.
A patch charm hanging from one of the handles resembles a red tropical flower. It has golden embroidered details, and leaves sticking out from behind it.
Printed on the bag is the name of the resort and its lighthouse icon. A metal Mickey charm is near the top of the bag.
The interior is solid blue. It has one small slip pocket and one small zip pocket inside.
MagicBand+ – $44.99
The MagicBand+ is a dark teal color. A white border is around the puck, which is also dark teal.
Two palm trees, oranges, and the resort’s wordmark are on the puck.
The strap end with holes features an image of Mickey and Minnie enjoying a day at Old Key West. They’re in striped beachy outfits. Behind them are some Old Key West buildings. Below are tropical flowers and an orange slice.
The other end of the band features the mice in a rowboat. The resort’s lighthouse and other buildings are behind them. “Disney’s Old Key West Resort” is above the sun. There are more tropical flowers at the very end.
Sunhat – $34.99
The sunhat is made of woven straw. It has a tan-colored string around the cap that runs through the brim to keep it secure under the chin.
There’s a dark blue patch on the front of the hat. “Disney’s Old Key West” is in white lettering. The red and white lighthouse is pictured above.
The edge and underside of the brim are covered in the same palm frond fabric as the tote bag.
DVC Ball Cap – $29.99
This ball cap is white with “Disney Vacation Club Member” embroidered in black on the front.
There is an image of Mickey in a beach chair enjoying a fruity drink.
An Old Key West patch featuring a minimalist lighthouse is on the back of the hat.
The Stave Church Gallery building inside the Norway Pavilion at EPCOT is currently undergoing refurbishment.
Stave Church Gallery Building Refurbishment
When we visited EPCOT on March 25, it appeared as though refurbishment on the building’s roof had just begun. All of the wooden shingles on the bottom portion of the front of the building had been completely removed.
Stave Church Gallery is home to the Gods of Vikings exhibit. Inside, guests can take a look at historical Norwegian items from the days of the Vikings. Guests can also learn more about some of the most famous ancient deities, including Thor, Odin, Loki, and Freya. The building itself is a replica of the Stave Church, a wooden Medieval architectural design commonly found in Norway.
The application of a new set of shingles is just getting started, with only one row and one additional shingle added.
Only roof underlayment is in place for the majority of this section.
So far, the rest of the building’s shingles have yet to be removed or replaced. The Stave Church Gallery remains open during its refurbishment.
Have you ever gone inside the Stave Church Gallery? If so, let us know your thoughts about it in the comments below.
It’s been a while since we checked in on the seemingly forever under construction Cake Bake Shop coming to Disney’s BoardWalk. Today, we stopped by to take a look at the latest construction progress. Construction on The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers began in 2022 in the former home of the ESPN Club at Disney’s […]
Will the Easter bunny be hopping over to your house this year?
Disney’s Riviera Resort
It would appear that the Easter Bunny has already made a stop a few days early at Disney’s Riviera Resort. We’re talking about an adorable new, seasonal snack that you won’t want to miss. What does the Easter bunny have in his basket? Eggs, of course! But these new “eggs” at Le Petit Cafe are a much sweeter treat.
We’ve found several Easter goodies around Disney World, and many of them have been ADORABLE. But these cute macaron eggs seem to be straight from Mr. Easter Bunny himself.
Easter egg macarons
At Le Petit Cafe, you can get a pack of three egg-shaped macarons for $7.99. The flavors are very much spring-themed — strawberry-honey, blueberry-coriander, and orange-milk chocolate. They literally sounded like a dream before we even tried them, plus they were SO adorable!
Aren’t they so cute??
We started with the pink, strawberry-honey one. As you might expect, the honey is subtly there compared to the strawberry flavor which is the star of the show. The honey seemed to give it a little extra sweetness in the center. The cookies were so soft and crumbly.
YUM!
The blueberry-coriander macaron was the blue one (as you might have guessed), and the fruity flavor was very dull, almost non-existent if we hadn’t been searching for it. The coriander is the more prominent flavor, but it was very sweet kind of like a thick icing. It was good, but if you’re looking for more fruit flavor or tartness, you may prefer the strawberry one!
Blueberry-coriander
Last, the orange-milk chocolate macaron! It was topped with a chocolate Riviera “R” medallion, which was a nice addition when it melted a bit and added to the gooeyness of the cookies. The overall flavor reminded us of an orange-chocolate candy, and we really enjoyed it! It was probably our favorite of the three.
ooey and gooey
If you want a simple, but delicious seasonal snack, we would recommend these for sure! Macarons, in general, are great desserts, and these were top-tier. These Easter “eggs” aren’t the only Easter treats we’ve tried this year! If you’re interested in our other Easter snack reviews, check out the link below.
While these specific macarons are seasonal, the Le Petit Cafe at the Riviera Resort is known for its delicious pastries. So even if you’re not visiting over Easter, be sure to stop by and give it a try! We’re keeping our eyes out for all the new snacks in Disney World, so keep following DFB for more!
Disney is a magical place for many reasons — the views, the nostalgia, and, of course, the food! However, for many of us, the most exciting part of Disney — like any other theme park — are the rides and attractions!
Like anywhere else, Disney closes numerous rides and attractions throughout the parks for routine maintenance and upkeep — so that park visitors like us can be safe and enjoy the rides the same way we did when they were brand new.
DO NOT USE
Several ride and attraction closures are happening in 2024, and we’ve listed them all out for you! While most of them are expected to open again sometime this year, just make sure you’re aware of those dates when planning so that you aren’t disappointed when you arrive. The good news is that many of these closures will be easy to avoid depending on when you’re planning a park visit.
Magic Kingdom Attraction Closures
Although Magic Kingdom doesn’t have many planned closures for 2024, it does have one of the longest planned closures.
No, Country Bear Jamboree is not a ride, but it is a very popular attraction that we felt deserved to be on this list. The Country Bears have taken a break from performing for a major overhaul.
Fans of Inside Out could meet Joy in ImageWorks in EPCOT. But this year, she’ll be switching things up!
Joy at EPCOT!
If you’re looking to say howdy or twirl with Joy, you’ll need to head over to Pixar Plaza in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. On June 10th, Joy will be moving there to join her other Pixar friends and celebrate her continued adventures with Riley and the gang with the debut of Inside Out 2.
Frozen Ever After
Frozen Ever After in EPCOT will be closed from November 2nd through November 6th, 2024. This is a relatively short closure, but it’s still something to consider and plan for if you’ll be visiting EPCOT during this time. If you’ve got little Frozen fans in your party, you might want to warn them ahead of time that they won’t get to experience this ride.
Elsa, you good?
Of course, you can still get your Frozen fix by meeting Anna and Elsa in the Norway Pavilion or by seeing For theFirst Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Hollywood Studios Attraction Closures
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
A fan-favorite thrill ride in Disney’s Hollywood Studios closed for a lengthy refurbishment on January 8th. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is an exciting, indoor coaster that you blast around on listening to Aerosmith hits.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster
At first, we didn’t know how long it would be closed, but the ride’s website eventually stated that it would reopen again this coming summer. It’s not uncommon for this ride to go through lengthy refurbishments. We saw the same thing in 2023 when it closed in February and reopened in May. It’s possible that will happen again.
Voyage Of The Little Mermaid
This live show featuring special effects, music, and characters from The Little Mermaid is an attraction that never made a return after park-closures in 2020. There is still no re-opening date set in place.
Ever since the water parks first reopened, the Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon Water Parks have been operating on opposite schedules. When one opens, the other one immediately closes. Currently, Typhoon Lagoon is open, which means that Blizzard Beach is closed right now.
Blizzard Beach Water Park
Other Possible Closures
2023’s Destination D23 announced A TON of potential upcoming changes, and while we don’t have official dates for any of the following attractions, you should know it is possible that the refurbishments and closures of these attractions could begin in 2024.
Dinosaur
One of these rides includes DINOSAUR over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. DinoLand U.S.A. is already being phased out and Disney hinted that an all-new Indiana Jones attraction could arrive in Animal Kingdom, possibly replacing DINOSAUR.
Is this goodbye to It’s Tough To Be A Bug?
This Animal Kingdom attraction change is certain to happen, it’s just a matter of when. It’s Tough to be a Bug! is getting replaced with a NEW Zootopia show at some point, and that could be as early as 2024. The new show is expected to be filled with humor and action while taking the audience through the different biomes from the movie.
Test Track at EPCOTis also scheduled to get a retheming. Like the other possible closures we’ve mentioned, there is no set timeline to Test Track’s retheme so it’s very possible it remains open all year in 2024 without any refurbishment or closures. With that said, the chance that Test Track — along with DINOSAUR and It’s Tough to be a Bug! — closes temporarily in 2024 is always a possibility.
There ya have it! Those are all of the 2024 attractions closures happening at Disney World — that we know of. We will update this post if more closures are announced! Here at DFB we keep an eye out for things like this, so make sure to follow along for news and updates regarding all things Disney World and Disneyland!
Just like the attractions sometimes close, the resort pools do too! There’s a full list of Disney World pool closures that you can check out by clicking the link below.

Today, March 26th, is the first day that tickets for the 2024 D23 Expo, D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, go on sale!
We can’t WAIT!
The Ultimate Disney Fan Event is happening from August 9th through the 11th in Anaheim, California. There will be panels, showcases, merchandise, announcements, and so much more. These huge events often sell out of tickets VERY quickly, but while we were in the virtual queue waiting to grab our own, we got a popup that we thought you should know about in case it happens to you.
In order to purchase tickets on March 26th for D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, you must be a D23 Gold Member. Tickets for General Members with Visa cards and Gold Members begin on March 27th, and all D23 members can purchase tickets on March 28th.
D23 ticket information
As D23 Gold Members, we were in the virtual queue when the sale officially opened at 12 PM PT. While we had been waiting for about 45 minutes, we suddenly received an alert that the site was having a technical issue and the pre-sale had paused until it was fixed.
The message was sent at 12:38 PT ET, and we were not sure how long the pause in sales would last. Things like this can happen when such a large number of people are trying to get on to a site all at once, so it wasn’t too surprising. The best thing to do if this happens to you is to stay in the queue. Eventually, the site will get back to normal.
UPDATE: The notification on the website has once again changed. Now, it says “The ticket allotment for today’s D23 Gold Member pre-sale has almost sold out and the queue has been paused. Guests who are currently checking out will be able to complete their transaction. If you were not able to purchase tickets today, quantities of most ticket types will be available during the next pre-sale, which will begin Wednesday, March 27, at 12 p.m. PT for D23 Members who are Visa cardholders—and who pay with their Visa.”
So if you have not yet gotten your tickets, you can try again tomorrow, starting at 12PM PST.
