Nostalgia, as the saying goes, is a hell of a drug—and the Disney company has certainly seemed like it’s addicted to it. From live-action versions of its animated features to revived franchises like Indiana Jones, we’ve seen plenty of indications that Disney is content to feed us heaping helpings of yesterday. So there was plenty […]

A Chicken Guy! restaurant in Florida could be evicted due to unpaid rent.
Chicken Guy! Facing Eviction
The landlord of the Guy Fieri-branded Chicken Guy! located in Winter Park, Florida, filed a complaint for eviction and damages, according to Click Orlando. In the documents, the landlord sues Chicken Guy (Winter Park) LLC, Earl of Sandwich (USA), LLC, and Planet Hollywood (Orlando), LLC. This is because Fieri opened Chicken Guy! in partnership with Robert Earl, who founded Earl of Sandwich and Planet Hollywood.
The landlord alleges that the parties above failed to make all of the rental payments, despite being given two three-day notices to pay rent or deliver possessions of the premises to the tenant. Per the complaint, as of March 4, 2024, the landlord is owed $38,507.72 in past-due rent, interest, and late charges. This does not include attorney fees.
This is just the latest of financial woes for the Chicken Guy! brand, which appears to have already impacted the restaurant in Disney Springs. In December of 2023, the Disney Springs location reduced its sauce option count by more than half, from 22 to 10 — a move that has been seen as a cost-cutting measure. Additionally, in 2022, the Mall of America sued Robert Earl for failing to pay rent on a Chicken Guy! location that never opened in the Minneapolis shopping center.
With economic hardships stacking up for the Chicken Guy! brand, it could be possible that its status as a long-term fixture at Disney Springs isn’t guaranteed, as multiple locations are experiencing troubles.
Chicken Guy!
The Chicken Guy! at Disney Springs was the first location for this quick-service restaurant to open. There, guests are encouraged to “Enjoy all-natural chicken and sauces bursting with Guy Fieri’s signature flare — from tenders to skewers to sandwiches to salads.” Since its 2018 opening in Disney Springs, Chicken Guy! has expanded to over 10 locations across the United States, with the site claiming that more restaurants are coming soon.
