New fake plants have been installed on the side of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom. The attraction is set to open this summer.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Construction
Disney added a Louis photo op to the construction walls in Frontierland after announcing the opening timeframe. Beyond the construction walls, the former Splash Mountain façade has been transformed into a Louisiana swamp.
Vines wrap up the legs of the Tiana’s Foods water tower. It was installed back in June 2023. According to the ride’s backstory, Tiana founded the co-op soon after the events of “The Princess and the Frog.”
Some scaffolding remains up around the mill, which guests ascend through at the start of the ride. A weathervane designed by a Louisiana blacksmith is atop the mill. The front of the building was repainted and the roof was covered with moss.
We saw several crew members on the side of the salt dome mountain. They seem to still be sculpting rock.
This is where most of the scaffolding remains on the mountain, too. We could also hear work behind the mountain.
During our Tuesday trip, we didn’t see activity around the ride’s famous drop. But this past weekend, we did see logs poised at the top of the drop.
Disney has been testing the ride vehicles and periodically filling parts of the flume with water. The vehicles are recycled from Splash Mountain but have been refurbished.
The windows and doors of the Briar Patch, the Splash Mountain gift shop, remain boarded up and blocked off.
During work on the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure queue, crews have also been constructing new stairwells for the Frontierland train station. Construction walls and rolling planters block work around the train station, which is still operational.
Guests can walk behind the train station, through part of the new queue made of flagstones. Small construction boxes cover some elements behind wrought iron railings. The only thing for guests to access back here is a restroom.
We can see some construction work on the side of the mountain from the queue. A new fence was installed next to the ride flume earlier during construction.
This is where new plants were installed. Green vines run up the cliffside. They appear to have red or orange flowers, or maybe peppers.
Peppers are featured on Tiana’s Foods signage in honor of the co-op’s line of hot sauces. As a potential connection to Tiana’s Bayou Adventures, peppers returned to the Native American village on Rivers of America last year.
Down next to the flume after the drop, temporary fencing now blocks the Cast Member stairwell.
We saw logs in one of the tunnels under the bridge. There was minimal water in the flume, likely just from rain.
We saw a crew member in this area but no significant work.
