Matcha Cake, Milk Chocolate Mousse Filling, Chocolate Buttercream, Crispy Pearls, White Chocolate Yeti Image
Rating out of 7: 5
The cupcake comes in a blue wrapper matching the blue crispy pearls. Crumbles of green matcha cake at the base of the buttercream look like the trees around the mountain. The chocolate buttercream has streaks of white so it looks like the peak of Everest with a dusting of snow.
A chocolate piece looks like the track of the roller coaster. A white chocolate piece stuck into the mountain of buttercream features an image of the Yeti.
The matcha cake in combination with the sweet chocolate makes for a delicious combination. The two level each other out so it’s not too sweet like other dessert options. The matcha isn’t overpowering either, and the cake is moist.
There are just enough crispy pearls to add a bit of texture that is enjoyable and surprising since they aren’t in every bite. The chocolate is rich and thick in texture. The matcha crumbles on the buttercream are also a nice touch.
If you keep equal amounts of chocolate and cake in each bite, it’s great. Otherwise, you’ll get smacked with matcha or chocolate. That said, even guests who don’t like matcha but do love chocolate will probably enjoy this.
If you’re looking for a sweet dessert, you may be disappointed. This is one of the tamest desserts we’ve had at Walt Disney World when it comes to sweetness. Guests who struggle with texture may not like the pearls either.
If you’re at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and want to try this, go for it, but don’t go out of your way to get it.
