REVIEW: Peppers Cali-Ente at the 2024 Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival

Does this booth live up to the spiciness of its name?? We had to find out for ourselves!

2024 Booth

The Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival runs from March 1st through April 22nd, and we’ve been tasting our way around all the booths to find the best eats of the festival! Join us to see how the menu at Peppers Cali-Ente stacks up!

Menu

As the name suggests, the theme of the menu at Peppers Cali-Ente is all about bringing the heat! This spot serves up two food items, plus a specialty cocktail.

2024 Menu

Now, let’s get to tasting!

Eats

First up, we’ve got the Shrimp Papas Locas, made with cheddar-bacon potatoes, jalapeño cheese sauce, and chipotle shrimp. You can snag it for $8.75.

Shrimp Papas Locas: Cheddar-bacon potatoes with jalapeño cheese sauce and chipotle shrimp

This is a new item at this year’s festival and we’re SO glad that it earned a spot on the menu! It had such GREAT flavors! The shrimp was cooked to perfection and the salsa on top added the perfect freshness to balance out the potatoes with cheese sauce. Speaking of cheese, there was a lot of it, and we certainly weren’t mad about it. We would gladly order this dish again, it packs a TON of flavor!

Next up, we’ve got a returning item. The Chile Relleno Empanada topped with Arbol pepper salsa and Oaxaca and Cotija cheeses.

This one is definitely back for good reason! The empanada is a fan favorite and it’s super yummy. The spice is definitely there and it’s perfectly balanced with the cheese. You can pick one up for $8.50.

We were two-for-two on winning food items from this booth, now let’s see how the cocktail stacks up!

Drinks

The festival drink at Peppers Cali-Ente this year is the Cantarito-Style Paloma. It’s a returning drink made with reposado tequila, habanero-infused pineapple juice, lime juice, rock melon syrup, and Fresca, and garnished with a pineapple wheel and Tajín Clásico for $17.

This drink is SUPER SPICY, so it’s definitely at the right booth! The pineapple flavor is great, but the spice really takes away from it. We thought the spice could definitely stand to be taken down a notch or two. There’s also a super strong alcohol taste to this drink.

Cantarito-Style Paloma

We probably wouldn’t order this one again mostly because of the overpoweringly spicy flavor!

Overall

We absolutely LOVED both of the food items, but the drink was a miss for us. And yes, the booth 100% lived up to its name, there was plenty of spice to deem it CALIENTE indeed! With that in mind, if you’re not a fan of spicy flavors, this booth should probably be a skip for you. But if you can take the heat, it’s worth checking out this kitchen!
