We’re Reviewing 12 VIRAL Snacks from the Disney World of Gas Stations

It’s widely known as the “Disney World of Gas Stations” for a reason.

Buc-ee’s

Yes, we’re here today to talk about Buc-ee’s! The iconic gas station was once a Texas-exclusive, but is now spreading like wildfire all over the southeast. What makes it so iconic, you ask? Well, for one — it’s HUGE. In true Texas fashion, it’s bigger than all its competitors and boasts over 100 gas pumps at most locations, car washes, roomy and clean restrooms, and so much food, snacks, and merchandise that it’s almost overwhelming. The chain has gone viral in recent years for the food, and while we’d had a few things here and there on roadtrips, we felt it was time to do an actual REVIEW now that a Buc-ee’s is being built in Central Florida.  So, put on your stretchy pants, fasten your seatbelts, and let’s go to Buc-ee’s!

Before we get into the whole food ordeal, let’s go inside and take a look around, shall we? The inside of the store is HUGE and has several different sections based on the type of snack you’re hoping to grab. There are coolers in the center that have fruit cups, cookie dough bites, cold sandwiches, chicken salad, and more.

There’s also a sweets counter where you can get gourmet pecans, almonds, and cashews as well as FUDGE. There’s a separate bakery section where you can get a wide variety of baked goods, from cinnamon rolls to giant slices of cake.

Buc-ee’s

We can’t forget about the jerky wall! There are quite a few flavors of jerky that’s made fresh at Buc-ee’s.

There are also several drink machines and even a coffee bar where you can grab refillable styrofoam cups and take your pick.

Buc-ee’s

While there are lots of grab-and-go options, you can also opt for a hot meal that’s made just for you. They restock them at the counter every few minutes so that they’re always fresh, BUT you can also ask for them to make you a brand new one. We watched people do both.

Tacos and Burritos

Now, let’s get ready to GRUB! Keep in mind that if you visit Buc-ee’s, there isn’t any seating inside for you to eat. All of this is intended to be roadtrip food, so we’re going to include how easy each item is to eat while driving or sitting in the car as part of the review. Let’s go!

Some of the food we’ll be trying!

First up, we’re going to try one of the most popular options: the Fried Chicken Sandwich for $6.99. It’s a basic fried chicken breast on a plain bun with some sauce. Sometimes simple is the key.

Buc-ee’s Fried Chicken Sandwich

The sauce REALLY reminds us of Chick-fil-A sauce, but maybe a little sweeter. The chicken is still really crispy and fresh-tasting despite the fact that this is a grab-and-go option that had been sitting out for several minutes. The chicken itself is super dense but in a good way — it feels hearty and like REAL chicken rather than something processed.

Fried Chicken Sandwich

If it was more convenient, we’d probably choose this over a Chick-fil-A sandwich. It’s good, and it’s easy to eat without making a mess.

Next, let’s try the Sliced Brisket Sandwich for $8.49.

Brisket Sandwich

This didn’t look that great to me, so I was a little nervous to try it. However, I was pleasantly surprised! The first thing you notice is the sweet, smoky flavor of the sauce, which is delicious.

Brisket Sandwich

The meat is nice and tender, but is a bit dry for my liking. The sauce really helps and redeems it. The bread is just a regular ol’ bun! It’s soft and doesn’t take away from the star of the show — the brisket. This is the BEST OPTION if you’re opting for something that’s delicious but still neat enough to eat while driving. It makes zero mess.

The next sandwich we’re trying is the Club Melt for $8.49.

Club Melt

This is the thing that at first bite I was like, “Wow, this is a great option for picky eaters!” The sweet bun is literally DELICIOUS with the ham, bacon, and the turkey. Plus, the sauce is super sweet and just adds to the whole thing. But then comes the spice! The sauce has a slow, sweet heat that I really enjoyed.

Club Melt

This basically tastes like Hawaiian Roll ham sliders with a kick. The only downside is that in true melt fashion, this is super messy. Like, look at all that SAUCE. If you’re riding shotgun, this might be an OK option, but if you’re driving, it’s a no-go. You and your steering wheel will be lost in the sauce.

Now, let’s try a BURRITO! The Texas Cheesesteak Burrito is $8.28 and is loaded in flavor and ingredients.

BURRITO TIME

The meat literally melts in your mouth and tastes amazing with the onions, peppers, and of course — the cheese. The flour tortilla is super thin and it kind of caused the burrito to fall apart, but I really liked that soft, chewy texture with the meat and the crunch of the veggies.

Texas Cheesesteak Burrito

This is another option that probably isn’t safe if you’re driving but could be okay if you’re just sitting in the car.

Next up, we’re trying the Pulled Pork Sandwich for $7.49. It’s moist and juicy, and you can really taste the smoke in it. It doesn’t have a lot of that bark — the glazed edge that we were hoping for, but this is still really great. It has a really hefty amount of meat on the sandwich for the price, which is awesome.

Pulled Pork Sandwich

It does stay together pretty well as you eat it, and it pairs well with our next item… BEAVER CHIPS!

Beaver Chips are Buc-ee’s house-made potato chips, and we were really excited to try them. They come in a paper bag for $2.79 each.

Beaver Chips

These are actually SO good! They remind us a lot of the chips from Jolly Holiday in Disneyland. They could use a biiiiit more salt but they do have a really nice crunch. They’re served in a CUP inside the bag, so you aren’t actually getting a bag full of chips like it may seem. They’re not too thick, too thin, or too oily. They complement the sandwiches well.

As another option for some crunchy sides, we have the Beaver Nuggets for $4.98. They have various flavors, but we went with the traditional ones.

Beaver Nuggets

These are GOOD. They’re very sweet and have a similar flavor to Cracker Jacks but with an airier texture like a corn puff. The outside is pretty caramelized and has that *gets stuck in your teeth* feeling — so if you don’t like that, don’t try these!

Beaver Nuggets

They’re very light and easy to eat one after the other, so they’re a dangerous road trip snack.

Now, it’s time to talk DESSERTS! First up, we tried the Assorted Fudge, which comes in a box of 12 pieces for $15.12.  The flavors of the fudge aren’t aren’t listed on the box (or they weren’t listed on ours) so it’s really a surprise!

HOLY FUDGE!

These were honestly all really good and I don’t even like chocolate all that much. There’s one that I knew without a doubt was a caramel pecan one, and it was absolutely delicious. There’s also another that’s a BANANA. PUDDING. ONE. And it’s the best fudge I have ever put in my mouth. It tastes like ‘nanas and Nilla Wafers. That’s all you need to know.

FUDGE!

This is like a road trip game in itself because you have no idea what you’re eating. It’s a delicious game, though!

Next, we tried the Cinnamon Roll for $3.49. Imagine this: Buc-ee walks into the ring to duke it out with Gaston. Bucee puts the SMACK. DOWN. on Gaston. Yes, Bucees has the better cinnamon roll. A Gas station cinnamon roll.

Cinnamon Roll

It’s not at all dry, has a good cake-like texture, and the middle of the roll is perfectly gooey with that cinnamon-butter mixture and that melty icing.

YASSSSS

(Pro tip: ask them to heat it for you at the counter instead of gettiing a grab-and-go one.)

Next, we tried the Buc-ee’s Red Velvet Whoopie Pie for $2.99.

Red Velvet Whoopie Pie

This is very dense yet pillowy at the same time. It’s a great bang for your buck, and it holds together extremely well. It’s definitely driver-safe!

Red Velvet Whoopie Pie

The cream cheese icing flavor packs a huge punch and shines through the red velvet flavor. As for the cake itself, it’s neither dry nor moist. It just kind of exists! It’s very good, though.

Similar to this one is the Birthday Cake Whoopie Pie for $2.99.

Birthday Cake Whoopie Pie

It’s a bit messier than the other, as the icing has a tendency to want to shoot out the sides. The icing really reminded us of a grocery store cupcake but it’s really good.

Second place: Birthday Cake Whoopie Pie

The cookies/cake on the sides are thinner than the red velvet one, so this one comes in second place as far as whoopie pies go.

Last but not least, we tried the Cookie Dough Bites for $2.99! They come in grab-and-go cups. Ours had seven bites inside.

Cookie Dough Bites

The dough is kind of sticky but they don’t get all over your hands. They do tend to kind of fall apart, but that could be because there’s no raw egg to hold them together like in typical cookie dough. They’re very yummy and taste similar to the delicious Pilsbury cookie dough.

Well folks, there you have it. Would you believe us if we told you that this isn’t even HALF of all the food you can grab from Buc-ee’s? Yep! There’s plenty more where that came from. All in all, it’s a great, safe, convenient stop on any road trip and we’re so excited that one is coming close to Disney World. NONE of the food disappointed — it was all delicious in its own way. The value is great too.  Who knows — maybe we’ll have to drop into the Florida location once it’s complete to try even more!
