The opening date for Super Nintendo World’s newest expansion at Universal Studios Japan — Donkey Kong Country — has officially been delayed several months.
Opening Date Set for Donkey Kong Country
Universal Studios Japan has released a statement apologizing for the delays and stating they can not make the previously promised “Spring 2024” timeline, instead stating that the land will now open sometime in the second-half of 2024.
This area is also planned for the Epic Universe theme park at Universal Orlando Resort, but it is unknown if the issues being experienced in Japan will delay the Florida project’s opening as well.
When it does finally open, guests visiting the park will be able to explore Donkey Kong Country and ride its roller coaster, Donkey Kong: Mine-Cart Madness,.
On the land’s family coaster, guests will speed through a rickety mine, jumping broken tracks as if they were in one of the “Donkey Kong” video games. Riders will even encounter the series’ antagonist Tiki Tong.
In December 2023, we got our first look at the Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong Power-Up Bands, as well as merchandise for Donkey Kong Country.
