Disney filed a permit for construction at the Imagination! Pavilion in EPCOT, sparking rumors that they will be reimagining the ride for a third time.
Imagination! Pavilion Construction
The address on the permit is Imagination’s 1990 Avenue of the Stars. The permit is for “general construction” and contracts Poli Construction Inc. The company recently worked with Disney on the renovation of Trail’s End Restaurant at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort.
The permit expires on November 28, 2025. This means Disney plans to complete the “general construction” by that date.
The permit doesn’t confirm or deny any specific work. “General construction” could mean minor maintenance or major updates to the ride or any other part of the pavilion, which also includes ImageWorks, the Magic Eye Theater, and restrooms.
Mickey and Minnie, in their Disney100 outfits, are currently meeting guests in the Magic Eye Theater lobby. They will move to CommuniCore Hall when it opens in June so construction could also be planned for their current meet-and-greet space.
Journey Into Imagination has been reimagined twice. The original version was a beloved EPCOT attraction while the second was widely hated. The third and current version, which has existed for the longest, brought Figment back to the attraction but many fans still miss the original.
Recently, Disney has leaned into the nostalgia for the original Journey Into Imagination with things like the “Figment” Little Golden Book and the Dream Mobile on an EPCOT mural. A Figment meet and greet opened at the Imagination! Pavilion last year. Soon after, Disney shared a series of videos of Figment visiting Walt Disney Studios. The last video featured Figment entering Walt Disney Imagineering, fueling hope for a reimagining.
Disney has not made any announcements about construction at the Imagination! Pavilion and plans can always change so take fan speculation with a grain of salt.
