Brent George’s face was bleeding and he wasn’t quite sure why when law enforcement arrived at the scene of Disney’s BoardWalk Inn earlier this year.
Drunk Man Gets a Beat Down at Walt Disney World Bar
George, 61, of Sebring, said he was having a “good time” with a group of people at the Walt Disney World bar on January 25, 2024, until they attacked him and he ended up getting hit in the head with a glass cup.
He drank three shots of bourbon and a beer at the bar, so his memory was shaky, according to an Orange County Sheriff’s arrest report.
Deputies began investigating the ruckus that night in the Belle Vue Lounge.
George had gone up to a group of people sitting at a table near the bar, George’s friend who witnessed the incident told authorities. Included in that family was a female (it’s unclear her age) who had Down Syndrome and sat in a wheelchair.
The friend “did not observe what led up to the confrontation and did not hear anything said between Brent and the other party,” the Orange County Sheriff’s report said.
But the friend said he saw the aftermath. The friend said someone threw a cup at George, someone threatened to kill George, and then George defended himself.
The deputy tracked down the group at the table. They said George approached them, mocking the female’s occasional grunts and imitating her.
The female’s mother confronted George and asked if he was making fun of her daughter with disabilities.
Then the altercation got physical. George shoved the mother twice.
When another woman from the group stood up to intervene, George slapped her across the face.
That woman’s husband, whose sister was the one made fun of, got involved. George punched the man in the neck. The man punched George back, which was why George’s face was bleeding.
The arrest report added there was no evidence anyone threw a glass at George.
“There was no broken glass found on the scene, and it is believed no glass cup was utilized in this incident,” the arrest report said.
The fight ended when an unknown bystander grabbed “Brent in a bear hug and removed him from the scene.”
George was arrested and taken to jail but “jail staff refused to take him due to his injuries, believing he may have a facial fracture.”
After the hospital medically cleared him, he returned to jail.
Because George struck others, he was charged with four counts of battery from the January incident and pleaded not guilty in February. (The sheriff’s office did not release the arrest report for weeks, which is why WDWNT is reporting on it now.) His March 13 court hearing was canceled, court records show.
George’s attorney did not respond to a request for comment this week.
