PHOTOS: TARDIS Appears at Disneyland Resort for ‘Doctor Who’ Premiere on Disney+

The TARDIS from “Doctor Who” has materialized on the Disneyland Resort esplanade near Downtown Disney District ahead of the show’s upcoming season premiere on Disney+.

The TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimensions In Space) is an old blue British police box. The spaceship/time machine was designed to change forms to blend in with its surroundings — but got stuck as a police box early on in the Doctor’s adventures.

"Doctor Who" sign with May 10 premiere date and Disney+ logo

Disney and the BBC announced in 2022 that the series would begin airing on Disney+. The first episodes to stream on the service were last year’s 60th anniversary specials. A holiday special, starring Ncuti Gatwa as the latest incarnation of the Doctor, then premiered on Christmas.

As a sign at the TARDIS photo op states, the next season will premiere with two episodes on Disney+ (and BBC iPlayer) on May 10. It will air on BBC One on May 11.

It features a “Police Telephone” sign and metal hardware.

“Police Public Call Box” is on the top of each side of the box.

Though it appears small, the TARDIS is actually bigger on the inside.

It has a blue light on top that flashes when the box appears and disappears.

In addition to Gatwa as the current Doctor, the next season of “Doctor Who” (known as series 14 or season 1) also stars Millie Gibson as his new companion, Ruby Sunday. Jemma Redgrave, Bonnie Langford, and Yasmin Finney will reprise their roles as Kate Stewart, Mel Bush, and Rose Noble respectively. Other actors appearing this season include Jonathan Groff, Jinkx Monsoon, and Indira Varma.

It will have eight episodes premiering through June 22, with most episodes written by Russell T. Davies, who is returning as showrunner. Kate Herron and Briony Redman wrote one episode, and former showrunner Steven Moffat wrote one. Julie Anne Robinson, Ben Chessell, Dylan Holmes Williams, and Jamie Donoughue direct.

With plenty of time to prepare for the Fourth of July 2024, Walt Disney World has a new Americana ear headband and matching mini backpack by Loungefly.

Americana Ear Headband – $44.99

Americana ear headband made of white pleather with American flag bow

The accessory is mostly made of pleather, with blue velour lining the headband. The outside of the headband and the ears are white. They’re patterned with small images of Mickey wearing American flag shorts.

The American flag also inspires the pleather Minnie bow. One side is dark blue with brighter blue stars. The other side is striped red and white. The center is white.

On the right side of the headband is a metal tag featuring the Disney and Loungefly wordmarks.

The Mickey pattern continues on the backs of the ears.

We found this ear headband at the Emporium in Magic Kingdom.

Americana Mini Backpack – $78

In Creations Shop at EPCOT, we spotted the matching mini backpack, which is white with blue trim. It features the same all-over pattern with Mickey in patriotic shorts.

Scaffolding Removed From Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Mountain in Magic Kingdom

Crews have removed all the scaffolding from the mountainous salt mine façade of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Salt Mine

A wide shot of the exterior of Tiana's Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom.

At one point, scaffolding covered nearly all of the attraction’s façade. More recently, it remained around the mill on the left and on ridges on the sides of the mountain.

A closer photo of the salt mine of Tiana's Bayou Adventure. All of the scaffolding has been removed.

There’s no scaffolding to be seen now. However, we did see two crew members working right in front of the mill. The front of the building is decorated with a banner that was installed in early April and then temporarily removed.

A closer look at the purple banner on the front of the mill.

The banner is purple with gold and green borders. With the scaffolding gone, we can actually read the banner now. It says:

Tonight Only

A Celebration of Family and Friends of New Orleans

At the proud home of Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen

Everyone is Welcome!

Crew members working on foliage on the face of the salt mine.

The base of the mountain is surrounded by real and fake foliage.

A view of the side of the salt mine, where the last of the scaffolding was once located.

It seems crews are done installing flowers and plants on the mountain. When the ride was Splash Mountain, it was mostly reddish-brown rock. Now the rockwork is barely visible and the mountain is mostly green.

A photo of the upper portions of the salt mine, without scaffolding.

Flowers dot the top of the mountain. In the story of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, it’s an old salt mine. Tiana’s Foods now operates out of the mine.

Frontierland Train Station

New lampposts installed outside of the Frontierland Railroad Station and Tiana's Bayou Adventure queue entrance.

More lampposts have been installed in the flowerbeds outside the Frontierland train station. These are wooden posts with black wrought iron lamps on top.

A close-up of the lamps.

The lamps have decorative circles in their supports.

A view of the construction materials being stored under the train station's stairs.

Work is done on refurbishing the train station’s stairs. But this area under the stairs remains blocked off as it holds other construction materials. There are several long planks of wood.

A staging area in front of the train station, now cleared.

This staging area in front of the station was previously full of lampposts. They’re now gone as they have been moved into the ride’s queue.

Cords running across dirt near the train station.

Cords run across this dirt space that is clear of plants. Part of the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure rockwork that runs up to the station has been torn open.

Torn open rockwork in the salt mine.

There are two small square holes and one large hole.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Queue

A view of the barn in the Tiana's Bayou Adventure queue.

In the queue, there are both wooden lampposts and blue metal lampposts. Unlike the posts in front of the station, these wooden lampposts feature floral carvings.

A crew member hanging tension wire from two posts.

Behind construction walls, crew members on ladders were working on hanging a tension wire between two wooden posts. This is right next to the restrooms, which are open.

Crew members working in the queue, decorating posts.

The posts they’re working on feature the same flower carvings as the ones with lamps, but don’t have the rounded tops. There are small metal hooks near the tops.

A crew member working on one of the queue posts. Metal elements can be seen sticking out of the one in the center.

There were a couple of metal elements on the wire that the crew members were hanging.

A crew member working on a larger post from scaffolding in the queue.

Further in the queue, another crew member was on scaffolding around a larger post.

A close-up of the crew member working from the scaffolding.

This post has a metal piece with several hooks encircling it.

A garden area in the Tiana's Bayou Adventure queue.

The scaffolding sits in a garden full of large planter boxes. These feature fake plants like carrots and onions. There’s a green kiosk in the garden, too.

A lamppost with blue paint on it, as three crew members stand nearby.

One wooden lamppost has a stripe of blue paint on it. Signs point to a farmers market (maybe the garden above) and a break room.

A long-stance view of display cases or windows on the walls of Tiana's Bayou General.

In the back left corner of the queue, we noticed display cases or windows on the walls of Tiana’s Bayou General.

A closer look at the windows or display cases.

It’s hard to make out what is in these windows, but they may display hot sauces. There’s a sign for hot sauces nearby.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will open this summer at Magic Kingdom.

Follow This Secret Strategy To Be One of the LUCKIEST People in Magic Kingdom at Night

Magic Kingdom is FULL of magical moments (well, dur, it is called MAGIC Kingdom for a reason).

Cinderella Castle

From being able to meet some of your favorite Disney characters, to riding classic Disney rides, to getting pixie dusted (literally, if you want), being in Magic Kingdom is like living in a fairy tale. No wonder why we love it so much! However, there is something you can do to make your Magic Kingdom experience even MORE, well, magical, and we’re going to tell you all about it.

We’re sure if you’ve been to Magic Kingdom, you’ve watched the Happily Ever After fireworks from Main Street, U.S.A. But the next time you’re in Disney World, here’s what you need to do instead. Instead of heading to Main Street to see the fireworks, go behind Cinderella Castle in Fantasyland. You’ll want to be near Prince Charming Regal Carrousel.

Prince Charming Regal Carrousel

Why would you want to do this? First, you’ll get a super unique view of the fireworks — and that’s always fun, right? But…if you’re lucky, you may get a surprise of ROYAL proportions. Sometimes, the princesses come out of Princess Fairytale Hall during the fireworks and hang out in that area for magical moments with kids (and adults, too!). This is such a unique way to see the fireworks, as well as see characters during the show.

Ariel meeting in Fairytale Hall

So we do have to warn you that this isn’t guaranteed to happen every night, and it’s not something you’ll find listed on the My Disney Experience app. It’s sort of one of those “if you know, you know” kind of things. So it may NOT happen, but it very well MAY happen and you’ll end up with a little extra magic to end your evening in Magic Kingdom.

However, if you MUST meet the princesses and don’t want to take your chances, you can always visit them at Princess Fairytale Hall during the day. You can also book a meal at Cinderella’s Royal Table to get more quality time with the princesses in Magic Kingdom.

Stay tuned to DFB for more.
