This Is the WEIRDEST Disney Ride Closure We’ve EVER Seen!

One of Disneyland’s iconic attractions is closing for a weeks-long refurbishment… kind of?

The Matterhorn Bobsleds is one of the most revolutionary rides in Disney history. The coaster was the first ever made with a tubular steel track and completely redefined what a roller coaster could be when it opened in 1959. The coaster continues to inspire steel-built coaster behemoths around the world, and thrill Disneyland visitors daily… except those visiting on a weekday through the end of this month!

The Matterhorn entered an… interesting renovation cycle on April 15th. The ride closed that day for seasonal renovation and refurbishment but will reopen on April 19th. Quick refurb right? Well, not quite. After running as usual on the weekend of the 20th and 21st, the ride will then close again on April 22nd and remain closed until the 26th, before opening for the 27th and 28th. The cycle will then finish with the ride closing AGAIN from April 29th through May 2nd. After the attraction reopens on May 3rd, it’s scheduled for normal operation.

Cast Members are informing guests of the temporary closure

Disneyland is running seasonal maintenance on the Matterhorn from Monday through Thursday during the final three weeks of April while having the popular people-eating ride open during the busy — and crowded —  spring weekends.

The Matterhorn won’t be closed for uninterrupted renovation coming up, but anyone unlucky enough to be visiting on a weekday between April 15th and May 2nd will unfortunately miss their chance at riding the Disneyland legend, while weekend guests can.
