Disney has recently celebrated some pretty big milestones.
Mickey at Red Carpet Dreams in Hollywood Studios
Disney World celebrated its 50th anniversary for what felt like an ETERNITY (and we still miss parts of that celebration — mostly that FOOD). The Walt Disney Company also celebrated its 100th Anniversary in 2023. We recently celebrated the 26th anniversary of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Well, another BIG anniversary is happening soon in Disney World.
On May 1st, Disney’s Hollywood Studios turns 35 years old! To celebrate, Disney is asking visitors to come to Hollywood Studios at 11AM on May 1st at Theater of the Stars for a “special moment.” We still don’t know exactly what will happen at 11AM, but we’re intrigued!

You’ll also be able to get brand-new Hollywood Studios 35th anniversary merchandise as of May 1st, including t-shirts, a Loungefly bag, an exclusive pin, and more! You will have to join a virtual queue at the Stage 1 Company Store in the park to get your hands on the new merchandise, but you can request to join that virtual queue as early as 7AM.

Yep, 35 years ago, Disney opened its third theme park, which at the time was called Disney-MGM Studios. Now, we feel a little old because some of us can remember when Hollywood Studios first opened! We even remember some of those old attractions that are no longer with us, like The Great Movie Ride and the Studio Backlot Tour.
Great Movie Ride
In the ’90s, even more amazing attractions were added, including the Tower of Terror (which is now probably the most ICONIC ride in Hollywood Studios)and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Fantasmic! eventually became THE nighttime show not to miss once it premiered. In 35 years, though, a lot has changed. Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway took over the Great Movie Ride, the Backlot Studio Tour disappeared, and both Star Wars and Toy Story became hugely popular lands in the park.
