Universal Studios Florida is preparing for a new nighttime lagoon show, expected to debut by the summer. Work has been happening both inside the lagoon and around it for the last few weeks. Let’s take a look at the latest progress.
Nighttime Lagoon Show Construction
Construction walls have been blocking off part of the park near Starbucks for a few weeks. A new platform is being built in this area and it appears the dock is being extended. You can see the wooden railings and a new metal pole have been added here.
Now, even more walls have gone up around Central Park, blocking off the pathway along the water. Walls have been set up at each end of Central Park to keep guests from entering the area.
On the side of the lagoon where guests will watch the show, scaffolding has started to go up around the rock facade in the water.
The rocks along the side of Central Park have been in rough shape for a while and have some broken spots, so it looks like this will be getting repaired next.
The water level has started to rise and is almost at a normal level. Now, only the tops of the fountains are visible and most of the fountain platform is underwater.
More nozzles and lights were added to the fountains over the last few weeks. The above photo shows the fountains just before the water levels were raised.
A new trademark application has suggested the new nighttime lagoon show might be named Cinesational: A Symphonic Spectacular. At this time, no official announcements have been made, but drones are also rumored to be a part of the new nighttime show.
Universal Orlando Resort has not offered a nighttime lagoon show since 2022. The Halloween Horror Nights show Ghoulish: A Halloween Tale was canceled after a hurricane damaged the projectors around the lagoon. In 2023, Universal announced that Universal Orlando’s Cinematic Celebration would not be returning and a new show would take its place. Since then, we have seen new projectors and new fountains installed. We even caught the fountains testing a few weeks ago. It can’t be much longer before an official announcement is made.
