I bet you weren’t expecting DFB to send you a riddle today, were you? But I’ve got one for you anyway:

What’s something that almost every ride queue in Disney World desperately needs but only ONE actually has?

I’ll give you a hint: the only ride that has it is Avatar Flight of Passage in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. (And no, it’s not a giant blue Avatar in a fluid-filled tank — might be kinda weird to see that in the queue for Slinky Dog Dash.)

Think you know the answer?

OK, here goes! The answer is A BATHROOM. If you got it right, then we bet you’ve needed to use a bathroom at some point while you were waiting in line for a different ride and then discovered this unfortunate fact the hard way. We’re sorry to hear that and we can 100% relate.

But it’s true! Flight of Passage is the only ride in Disney World that has a bathroom mid-queue. Some other attractions have bathrooms backstage, and if you ask a Cast Member, they can take you back to use them. But Flight of Passage is the only one with mid-queue restrooms you can access on your own.

WHY does Flight of Passage get this special treatment? Well…it’s a pretty gross story, actually. The Orlando Sentinel found an Orange County Sheriff’s report that states someone actually peed inside the ride queue because they had to go to the bathroom but didn’t want to get out of line. A woman felt something wet on the back of her leg, turned around, and saw that a man was urinating in the queue. He was turned around, trying to hide, but the woman could see. The woman kept her place in line until she could notify a Cast Member.

The police report said, “He would not have urinated if he thought he could have held it or made it to the bathroom without causing further issues.” (The man was banned from Animal Kingdom for the rest of the day.)

Not long after that incident, bathrooms opened up in this ride’s queue.

It definitely makes sense for rides like Flight of Passage that tend to have LONG wait times to have a bathroom mid-queue. When so many people are standing around for hours on end, someone is bound to have to go!

I checked the wait times just now, as I’m writing this post around 3PM on a Friday, and Flight of Passage has a 110-minute wait, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train has an 80-minute wait, Millennium Falcom: Smugglers Run has a 120-minute wait, and Slinky Dog Dash has a 120-minute wait. (And those are actually fairly low wait times for a late afternoon.) All of those would be a long time to hold it if you realized you needed to go soon after you got in line.

This is especially problematic for little kiddos. I have two little nephews, and I can definitely imagine one of them asking to go to the bathroom when we’re right in the middle of a two-hour-long line.

So what should you do about this dilemma while we wait for Disney to decide to solve the problem and add more mid-queue bathrooms?

You might be surrounded by empathetic people who understand emergencies happen and allow part of your group to exit the line while the rest of your group stays there to save your spot. However, not everyone is going to be happy about that and they really don’t have to let you join up with your group when you get back because cutting in line is against the rules in Disney World. Instead, the best solution is to plan ahead!

Make sure your entire group goes to the bathroom before you all hop in a long line. You can find restrooms all throughout the park. To locate the one nearest to you, just open up the My Disney Experience app, click on the map section, and find “Restrooms” on the dropdown menu at the top of the page. You’ll be able to see all the bathrooms in the park and find the one that’s the closest.

If you do experience an emergency when you’re in line, you can always ask nearby Cast Members if there’s a bathroom available close by — they may be able to take you to one that’s backstage and then return you to your place in line.

I hope that, with a little planning ahead, you never have to experience this problem in Disney World!
