Cast Member Preview Announced for ‘Dreams That Soar’ Drone Show at Disney Springs

Cast Members will be the first to see the new “Disney Dreams That Soar” drone show at Disney Springs with a preview before the show’s debut.

Cast Members will be able to view “Disney Dreams That Soar” in the morning on May 22, 2024. The show will debut on May 24 and run for a limited time through September 2.

“You can fly” takes on a whole new meaning as we showcase Disney stories celebrating the joy of flight with state-of-the-art drones choreographed to create designs in the sky and paired with a “soaring” musical score (see what I did there?) and memorable movie quotes.

Crews have been constructing a staging area for the drones and installing speakers on the west side of Disney Springs. Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort installed fencing along the lake for safe viewing of the show.

Though the show has a limited-time run, Disney Live Entertainment Parades and Spectaculars Executive Steve Davison stated last fall that “drones are the next thing,” indicating other shows may be in the works.

In 2016, the limited-time “Starbright Holidays” drone show was performed at Disney Springs. Disneyland Paris has had drone shows like Disney D-Light for the resort’s 30th anniversary and “Avengers: Power the Night.” Disneyland Resort was reportedly considering using drones in a nighttime spectacular but nothing has come of the 2022 rumors.

In 2020, Disney filed a drone-related patent focusing on the drone’s ability to carry or impact other show elements and be decorative. The patent described “a new aerial show system . . . adapted for utilizing energy of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to activate and/or animate creative show effect devices or show elements to produce dynamic show effects as the UAV flies through a show’s airspace.”
