As of today, May 8th, Small Bytes is open! Hours for today show that the snack spot will be open from 6AM to 5PM PT on most days. We actually stopped by the day before, and it had soft-opened, but now it is OFFICIALLY open. You’ll find Small Bytes near the pool.

Small Bytes

You’ll find mostly basic snacks here like House Potato Chips & Dips, a Mega Soft Pretzel, and a Shrimp Ceviche Duo. There is also a selection of sandwiches, Nachos, Signature Mini Floats, Alcoholic Floats, and more. YUM! We even got to grab a Root Beer Float, but if you’re looking for a review, we’ll be doing a full one later.

Menu

This is just one of MANY new restaurants coming to Disneyland. Three new restaurants just opened in Downtown Disney: Paseo, Centrico, and Tiendita. But there are still a lot more on the way including Din Tai Fung and Porto’s Bakery. Let’s just say a lot of new good eating is headed to Disneyland!

Disney Requests Extension on Another Reflections Lakeside Lodge Construction Permit

Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a request to extend another construction permit for the abandoned Reflections — A Disney Lakeside Lodge.

This request is for Project 89. This includes the construction of the actual resort buildings, parking lots, and backstage areas. It was set to expire in February 2024.

The request states, “We would like to request an extension of this permit as construction is not yet complete. This project was shut down during COVID-19 conditions and therefore delayed the completion of this project.”

Imagineering asked for a five-year extension.

Reflections — A Disney Lakeside Lodge was officially announced in 2018 after rumors of a new nature-inspired resort. Reflections was to be a new Disney Vacation Club resort built on the site that once housed River Country, near Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort.

This resort experience will be a celebration of Walt Disney’s lifelong love and respect for nature, with some fun and even surprising accommodation types that families will find irresistible. It will give our members and guests yet another opportunity to stay in close proximity to all the newest attractions and experiences in our theme parks, and with the flexibility, value and world-class service families expect from Disney.

Terri Schultz, then Senior Vice President and General Manager of Disney Vacation Club

Disney began to demolish River Country in 2019 and Reflections was set to open in 2022. But construction had barely begun when COVID-19 shut down the world. Disney continued to file construction permits, with a 2021 permit indicating removal of trailers, seemingly supporting rumors that the resort was canceled.

However, last year, Disney requested and received a five-year extension for a permit for the construction project’s staging ground at the STOLport site. This didn’t give much hope for Reflections as there’s also ongoing construction at Fort Wilderness.

But the new permit, which deals more directly with the resort site, suggests Disney may be reviving the Lakeside Lodge.

What do you think? Let us know in the comments and on social media.

New E.T. Adventure Signage Coming Soon to Universal Studios Florida

The E.T Adventure is currently closed for a brief refurbishment and it appears the attraction will be getting new signage at the entrance.

New E.T. Adventure Signage Coming Soon

Next to DreamWorks Land, a new entrance arch with space for signage has gone up, presumably for the E.T. Adventure. The current entrance to the attraction is not clearly visible to guests as they walk towards DreamWorks Land, so new signage facing this direction will help people locate the attraction. Trees have been planted between the pathway to the E.T. Adventure and the back of Shrek’s swamp. The addition of trees here will help naturally divide DreamWorks Land from the E.T. Adventure, since both of these areas are themed to forests.

The arch is certainly attention-grabbing and fits in with the theme for Shrek’s Swamp and E.T.’s forest. The structure is made up of posts that look like wood, with brackets to attention future signage.

A small metal pieces hangs from the bottom of the wooden sign. This could possible be for a wait time sign or an Express sign.

E.T. Adventure front entrance

The E.T. Adventure is an opening day attraction for Universal Studios Florida. The current entrance can be seen in the photo above. Next to the E.T. Adventure is the new DreamWorks Land, which will officially open on June 14. At this time, the E.T. Adventure is closed for refurbishment, but is expected to reopen May 16, possibly with a few more changes.

The attraction has received a lot of updates over the last few years. New color-changing lights were added to the attraction most recently. Take a look at our full ride through video with the updated lights below.

The sign isn’t finished yet, so be sure to stay tuned to see what it looks like when its completed! Are you excited to see the E.T. Adventure getting some new updates?
