REVIEW: Strawberry Boba Tea Petit Cake and Mushu Bar for AAPI Heritage Month at Amorette’s Patisserie

For Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Amorette’s Patisserie is celebrating with two new treats: the Strawberry Boba Tea Petit Cake and the Mushu Cake Bar.

Amorette’s Patisserie is located in the Town Center area of Disney Springs, near Levi’s and World of Disney.

Strawberry Boba Tea Petit Cake – $22

This takes a pretty picture, but that’s the best thing about this cake. The presentation is great. What we don’t understand was the decision to make the boba pearls on the outside from fondant rather than using actual boba.

The strawberry mousse is overpowering. It’s a very strawberry-forward dish, but the mousse is artificial and drowns out the cake itself.

The cake was soaked in strawberry milk tea and filled with strawberry popping boba. There are also pieces of strawberry Pocky sticks that add a nice texture.

Like most of the petit cakes at Amorette’s, it’s covered in fondant. The two strawberries on top are chocolate with a very off-putting artificial sour strawberry flavor.

Mushu Cake Bar – $8

This had a rich dark chocolate flavor and the cake was moist. While not listed on the ingredients, there are crunchy pearls inside. The chocolate coating could have been overkill, but it works well here. It’s not overly sweet. The flowers are fondant, which we do not enjoy, but others might.

REVIEW: New Kiwi Destran Ice Cap Drink at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland

Ronto Roasters in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland has a new version of a limited-time non-alcoholic drink. The Destran Ice Cap has returned, this time with kiwi flavoring, and is available through August 22.

This is great. It instantly took us back to the strawberry flavors of childhood. The strawberry cream is excellent.

The Sprite helps to cut the heaviness of the cream and enhance the strawberry flavor. The kiwi sits at the bottom but adds some lightness to the drink. It’s refreshing. It’s so much better than the green apple version from 2022.

This is a great non-alcoholic option that both kids and adults can enjoy.
