Ahoy, sailors! We’re sailing straight to paradise — who’s coming? OK, we’re not actually sailing right now, but get ready because a NEW Disney Cruise Line island destination is opening SOON, and we have new details to share!
Disney Magic
Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is opening this summer! Ever been to The Bahamas? Well, you’ve never been to a place like THIS in The Bahamas. This new destination was made for Disney Cruise Line passengers on select sailings (including passengers on the Disney Magic, Disney Dream, and Disney Fantasy cruise ships), and it’s got a TON of unique offerings. Come with us as we explore all the NEW details!
We attended a preview for Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, and Disney came prepared with a LOT of exciting news. This destination will be located on the island of Eleuthera in The Bahamas, joining the existing Castaway Cay.

On the island, you’ll find “distinctive, sweeping architecture in bright, saturated hues” inspired by nature, along with a family beach, plenty of recreation, a market-style dining spot, an interactive family water play area, and even an adult-exclusive beach. There’s a LOT to look forward to!

Island Overview
We started off with getting a closer look at the island and we were able to hear from numerous people who have played a part in bringing Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point to life. We were joined by Joey (Public Affairs at Disney Cruise Line), Cassandra (Imagineer), Bradley (Conservation Program Manager), Denise (Disney Live Entertainment), and Theodore (Bahamian fashion designer, who designed the looks for Mickey and Friends). The panel was focused on the two shining stars of Lookout Cay which were the stunning natural beauty and the strong influence of Bahamian culture.
Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point
They noted that Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay are two destinations, but they will complement each other. The destinations will give guests multiple opportunities to experience Bahamian culture. Castaway Cay is a fictional place where people were “castaway” onto, but Lookout Cay is a real place, with real people and the opportunity to see real culture. Disney Cruise Line has worked with organizations and agencies in and around Eleuthera, like the National Junkanoo Committee, to immerse guests in Bahamian culture. There was a focus on the deep traditions and small communities of the Bahamas. Eleuthera embraces and harnesses the culture to bring guests an introduction to Junkanoo.
The map of Lookout Cay
Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is 900 acres of property. 150 acres was given back to the people, and they love how untouched it looks. Eleuthera is 110 miles long so can’t explore it all but most proud of bringing the best parts together to give experiences that can be as authentic as they can be and being intentional with spreading the culture. Additionally, they are working to reduce the impact and encouraging guests to interact with the destination in an authentic way.
Closer look at what will be available.
Fun in the Sun Beach Bash
We learned about an entertainment offering called “Fun in the Sun Beach Bash.” This event will feature a play area with a dance party alongside your favorite characters.
Fun in the Sun Beach Bash
There will be lots of family-friendly fun as you dance along to popular songs from films like The Goofy Movie and Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers with a Junkanoo beat added to them.
Junkanoo Rush Out
Another exciting entertainment offering is the “Junkanoo Rush Out.”
Junkanoo Rush Out
This will be a high-energy event with goat skin drums, costumes, and masks. There will be lots of vibrant colors, prints, pattern, textures.
A sneak peek at Junkanoo Rush Out
Bahamian fashion designer, Theodore, noted that, “speaking with the voice of Junkanoo is speaking with the voice of the Bahamas.”
Goombay Cultural Center
As well, visitors will be able to explore the Goombay Cultural Center. Music, patterns, and textures will all culminate at the Goombay Cultural Center. Visitors will be able to learn from artists about local culture and tradition.
We loved hearing from the panel.
The Goombay Cultural Center will be a stunning location, with the sights and sounds of Junkanoo to learn about the history, the music, the themes, and the costumes. While at the center, you will also be able to take part in activities like making crafts and learning to work with cardboard to make headpieces to wear to the Junkanoo celebration.
Nature Trail
We also learned about a nature trail that will be on the island.
The Nature Trail is shown by the yellow line.
When developing Lookout Cay, designers also developed a nature trail that is covered with Bahamian birds and other birds that migrate between the U.S. and Lookout Cay. While on Lookout Cay you can see nature all around you, but this trail will give you an even better look at the natural beauty of the location.
Other Activities
We also got a brief introduction to a few more activities at Lookout Cay. Sebastian’s Club will be a kids club that was developed in collaboration with Nat Geo kids. Teens and tweens will have Sand Creature Creations, where they can show up at the beach and learn to sculpt five different creatures. Teens and tweens will be able to carve, take photos and selfies, and when done restore the beach to its natural state. As well, teens can also take part in Seek and Find. In this activity teens will hunt for 80 things between murals, displays, and items at Lookout Cay. There will also be an adults-only area with beautiful coral and hand-painted artwork. This adults-only area will be similar to Serenity Bay at Castaway Cay.
We learned so much!
Food & Drinks
We have already gotten a preview of some of the food that will be available at Lookout Cay. The dining options will include some favorites from Castaway Cay, but will also include Bahamian inspired offerings that include lots of Bahamian spices. It was also ocnfirmed that there would be plenty of ice cream and chicken tenders if that is more your speed.

We were able to try a few drinks that will be offered at Lookout Cay. We started with the Lighthouse Point Specialty Coffee which had Monin Hawaiian Island, Illy Cold Brew, Monin Coconut Syrup, and Rich’s On Top Soft Whip Topping.

Merchandise
We also got an in-person look at some of the merchandise coming to Lookout Cay. We have previously seen a sneak peek at this merchandise, but now we got to see it in-person.
Lookout Cay Merchandise
The merchandise has lots of Bahamian influences and we love all the designs.
Apparel
We also got a look at some of the pins that will be available for purchase.

And a look at Mickey and Minnie in plush form, with their new Bahamian inspired outfits. They are looking great!

Characters
We have previously gotten a look at the new outfits the characters will be wearing. This is the FIRST time in Disney history that one designer has designed and dressed all eight characters together. How cool! The outfits were all designed by Theodore Eylett, who was a part of the panel. All of the characters have a bit of straw infused into their outfits. Minnie also has raffia polka dots on her skirt, and a pineapple purse. The pineapple is an important fruit to Eleuthera. Mickey has Bahamian conch art on his shorts. Daisy has a straw hat, and “Bahama mama” puff sleeves.

Goofy is Theodore’s favorite with his oversized Junkanoo vest. It was noted that Donald has an opened sailor vest since he is on vacation. Chip and Dale have Junkanoo infused sunrays and a stray backpack. While Pluto has conch shells, motifs, and Bahama waves on his collar
There is SO MUCH to learn about this new vacation destination! Luckily, we have a FULL roundup of ALL the details in one handy location!
In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
