Why Disney Fans Will Be Glued to Their Screens on May 7th

We’re expecting some big news from Disney next week!

©Disney

At the end of each quarter, the Walt Disney Company hosts a public earnings call to report on how the company did that quarter. Sometimes, they’ll even announce special news, such as show renewals, Disney+ updates, updates on their plans for the parks, and more. We may be getting some big announcements soon because their next earnings call is next week!

Disney’s next earnings call, their Q2 earnings call, is scheduled for May 7th at 8:30AM EST. Before the call begins, the quarterly earnings report will be posted, and then the call will break down the report, as well as offer additional insight into what’s going on inside the company.

To tune into the earnings call, you can head to the webcast on The Walt Disney Company website. It’s completely free and open to anyone to listen in. However, if you’re unable to join or you just want everything broken down for you, we’ll be listening to the whole thing and taking notes so we can report directly to you.

Why Every Disney Adult Will Be Running to Aldi This Week

Although one of the best places to get Disney merchandise is at Disney Parks or through The Disney Store, you can find a lot of Disney merchandise elsewhere, too.

©Aldi

We’ve seen plenty of Disney stuff at places like Amazon, for example. We also see a lot of Disney stuff at Target (which is one of our favorite places to shop for Disney souvenirs). However, Aldi has officially entered the chat because as of this week, new Disney souvenirs are now available at everyone’s favorite grocery store chain!

As of this week, you can pick up a ton of Disney souvenirs at your local Aldi. That includes some fun home decor, like a doormat and Mickey pillow. Would you look at those low prices?

©Aldi

You can even choose from a selection of cool water bottles. These would be perfect to take to the parks, right?

©Aldi

This Disney collection also includes some sweet character backpacks, including this Donald Duck backpack, for under $15.

©Aldi

… and several different character-inspired wallets, like this Mickey one!

©Aldi

You’ll even find a selection of ears for under $5!

©Aldi

The collection even includes some clothing, but what we’re really loving are these fun shoes! These could make great Disney World shoes.

©Aldi

There’s so much more, so you’ll want to head straight to Aldi as soon as you can to grab these souvenirs. If you’ve shopped at Aldi before, you know things like this tend to sell out quickly, so make that a priority!

While you’re in the shopping mood…have you checked our DFB exclusive graphic tees and merch? It’s super fun stuff to wear to the parks, or to rep your happy place at the grocery store! Click here to visit the DFB Merch Store!

BREAKING: New Details REVEALED for Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, Disney’s Newest Cruise Destination

Ahoy, sailors! We’re sailing straight to paradise — who’s coming? OK, we’re not actually sailing right now, but get ready because a NEW Disney Cruise Line island destination is opening SOON, and we have new details to share!

Disney Magic

Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is opening this summer! Ever been to The Bahamas? Well, you’ve never been to a place like THIS in The Bahamas. This new destination was made for Disney Cruise Line passengers on select sailings (including passengers on the Disney Magic, Disney Dream, and Disney Fantasy cruise ships), and it’s got a TON of unique offerings. Come with us as we explore all the NEW details!

We attended a preview for Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, and Disney came prepared with a LOT of exciting news. This destination will be located on the island of Eleuthera in The Bahamas, joining the existing Castaway Cay.

©Disney

On the island, you’ll find “distinctive, sweeping architecture in bright, saturated hues” inspired by nature, along with a family beach, plenty of recreation, a market-style dining spot, an interactive family water play area, and even an adult-exclusive beach. There’s a LOT to look forward to!

©Disney

Island Overview

We started off with getting a closer look at the island and we were able to hear from numerous people who have played a part in bringing Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point to life. We were joined by Joey (Public Affairs at Disney Cruise Line), Cassandra (Imagineer), Bradley (Conservation Program Manager), Denise (Disney Live Entertainment), and Theodore (Bahamian fashion designer, who designed the looks for Mickey and Friends). The panel was focused on the two shining stars of Lookout Cay which were the stunning natural beauty and the strong influence of Bahamian culture.

Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point

They noted that Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay are two destinations, but they will complement each other. The destinations will give guests multiple opportunities to experience Bahamian culture. Castaway Cay is a fictional place where people were “castaway” onto, but Lookout Cay is a real place, with real people and the opportunity to see real culture. Disney Cruise Line has worked with organizations and agencies in and around Eleuthera, like the National Junkanoo Committee, to immerse guests in Bahamian culture. There was a focus on the deep traditions and small communities of the Bahamas. Eleuthera embraces and harnesses the culture to bring guests an introduction to Junkanoo.

The map of Lookout Cay

Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is 900 acres of property. 150 acres was given back to the people, and they love how untouched it looks. Eleuthera is 110 miles long so can’t explore it all but most proud of bringing the best parts together to give experiences that can be as authentic as they can be and being intentional with spreading the culture. Additionally, they are working to reduce the impact and encouraging guests to interact with the destination in an authentic way.

Closer look at what will be available.

Fun in the Sun Beach Bash

We learned about an entertainment offering called “Fun in the Sun Beach Bash.” This event will feature a play area with a dance party alongside your favorite characters.

Fun in the Sun Beach Bash

There will be lots of family-friendly fun as you dance along to popular songs from films like The Goofy Movie and Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers with a Junkanoo beat added to them.

Junkanoo Rush Out

Another exciting entertainment offering is the “Junkanoo Rush Out.”

Junkanoo Rush Out

This will be a high-energy event with goat skin drums, costumes, and masks. There will be lots of vibrant colors, prints, pattern, textures.

A sneak peek at Junkanoo Rush Out

Bahamian fashion designer, Theodore, noted that, “speaking with the voice of Junkanoo is speaking with the voice of the Bahamas.”

Goombay Cultural Center

As well, visitors will be able to explore the Goombay Cultural Center. Music, patterns, and textures will all culminate at the Goombay Cultural Center. Visitors will be able to learn from artists about local culture and tradition.

We loved hearing from the panel.

The Goombay Cultural Center will be a stunning location, with the sights and sounds of Junkanoo to learn about the history, the music, the themes, and the costumes. While at the center, you will also be able to take part in activities like making crafts and learning to work with cardboard to make headpieces to wear to the Junkanoo celebration.

Nature Trail

We also learned about a nature trail that will be on the island.

The Nature Trail is shown by the yellow line.

When developing Lookout Cay, designers also developed a nature trail that is covered with Bahamian birds and other birds that migrate between the U.S. and Lookout Cay. While on Lookout Cay you can see nature all around you, but this trail will give you an even better look at the natural beauty of the location.

Other Activities

We also got a brief introduction to a few more activities at Lookout Cay. Sebastian’s Club will be a kids club that was developed in collaboration with Nat Geo kids. Teens and tweens will have Sand Creature Creations, where they can show up at the beach and learn to sculpt five different creatures. Teens and tweens will be able to carve, take photos and selfies, and when done restore the beach to its natural state. As well, teens can also take part in Seek and Find. In this activity teens will hunt for 80 things between murals, displays, and items at Lookout Cay. There will also be an adults-only area with beautiful coral and hand-painted artwork. This adults-only area will be similar to Serenity Bay at Castaway Cay.

We learned so much!

Food & Drinks

We have already gotten a preview of some of the food that will be available at Lookout Cay. The dining options will include some favorites from Castaway Cay, but will also include Bahamian inspired offerings that include lots of Bahamian spices. It was also ocnfirmed that there would be plenty of ice cream and chicken tenders if that is more your speed.

©Disney

We were able to try a few drinks that will be offered at Lookout Cay. We started with the Lighthouse Point Specialty Coffee which had Monin Hawaiian Island, Illy Cold Brew, Monin Coconut Syrup, and Rich’s On Top Soft Whip Topping.

Lighthouse Point Specialty Coffee

Next, we got to try the Lighthouse Point Specialty Beverage, which included Simply Lemonade, Butterfly Jasmine Tea, and Sprinkle Blue Electricdust.

Lighthouse Point Specialty Beverage

We also got to try the Eleuthera Euphoria which contained aged rum with pineapple, dole whip, and topped with a pineapple gummy.

Eleuthera Euphoria

Merchandise

We also got an in-person look at some of the merchandise coming to Lookout Cay. We have previously seen a sneak peek at this merchandise, but now we got to see it in-person.

Lookout Cay Merchandise

The merchandise has lots of Bahamian influences and we love all the designs.

Apparel

We also got a look at some of the pins that will be available for purchase.

Some of the pins

And a look at Mickey and Minnie in plush form, with their new Bahamian inspired outfits. They are looking great!

Mickey and Minnie Plushes

Characters

We have previously gotten a look at the new outfits the characters will be wearing. This is the FIRST time in Disney history that one designer has designed and dressed all eight characters together. How cool! The outfits were all designed by Theodore Eylett, who was a part of the panel. All of the characters have a bit of straw infused into their outfits. Minnie also has raffia polka dots on her skirt, and a pineapple purse. The pineapple is an important fruit to Eleuthera. Mickey has Bahamian conch art on his shorts. Daisy has a straw hat, and “Bahama mama” puff sleeves.

©Disney

Goofy is Theodore’s favorite with his oversized Junkanoo vest. It was noted that Donald has an opened sailor vest since he is on vacation. Chip and Dale have Junkanoo infused sunrays and a stray backpack. While Pluto has conch shells, motifs, and Bahama waves on his collar

There is SO MUCH to learn about this new vacation destination! Luckily, we have a FULL roundup of ALL the details in one handy location!

WEREWOLVES Have Invaded EPCOT’s Tiny Train Town

There’s one EPCOT spot that’s home to mischief makers and hooligans.

The tiny village

That’s right, I’m talking about the tiny train town in the Germany Pavilion! Over the past few months, we’ve spotted plenty of nonsensical shenanigans taking place in the miniature village, and we’ve been sure to keep you updated on the villagers’ misdeeds. This week is no different, so as the self-proclaimed mayor of this itty bitty city, I’m here to bring you my report!

The first update this week was actually submitted to us by a reader! The Apodaca Family emailed us this photo of a seemingly abandoned building with a rather frightened man outside. We’d spotted this man in the past, but now we know what he’s hiding from — if you look to the left, you’ll spot a WEREWOLF.

We know this town has been rife with crime, especially murder, for several months, but a werewolf is a brand-new problem. How will the villagers survive?!

Thanks to the Apodaca Family!

It’s likely because of the werewolf that some of the villagers are now on the run! We spotted a set of twins hiding in the mountains of the village. It looks as though they’ve brought along their pet sheep for safekeeping (smart move!). They’ve both got backpacks like they’re ready to camp out for a while — we wish them the best of luck.

They’re on the run!

We also spotted another murder victim in the village this week! Is the body hiding in the train station a victim of a werewolf attack, or is this another rogue scoundrel loose in the town?

A victim of the wolf?

And likely unrelated to the wolf, we spotted an accident just waiting to happen! One of the railings has been torn down on the lighthouse and this little girl is mere steps from falling to her doom. Someone get the village maintenance society in there ASAP! (Is that my job as mayor? Maybe I should get on that.)

Dangers abound!

We’re waiting with bated breath to see what happens with this werewolf, so stay tuned to DFB for more news and updates. We’ll keep you in the loop!

* The anarchy within is mostly created by natural occurrences, like giant squirrels, wind, rain, and relatively godzilla-sized lizards who frequent the town; but we find it fun and entertaining to make up fictional stories about what COULD be happening.  We are grateful to the folks who create and maintain this Tiny Train Town for Disney World, as it’s one of our favorite parts of EPCOT and always has been.

NEW Orange Bird Bus Debuts at Walt Disney World

As part of Walt Disney World’s new fleet of buses, the bus featuring an Orange Bird wrap has made its way to the resort.

Orange Bird Bus Wrap

Orange and green bus with Orange Bird design parked at a bus station with metal railings in the foreground.

We spotted the bus at Magic Kingdom, transporting guests to Disney’s Boardwalk Resort. It joins other newly-themed bus wraps we’ve seen, including for “Zootopia” and “Ratatouille.”

The Disney Bus Transportation is a free system that takes guests between the Disney theme parks, water parks, resorts, and Disney Springs.

A colorful public bus with Orange Bird graphics parked under a sunny sky.

The design features a large Orange Bird head at the center of the vehicle. The bus has a horizontal stripe design in the colors of Orange Bird: orange, white, yellow, and green. Because the bus was heading to Boardwalk, the front screen read “Welcome to the showplace of the shore!”

Side view of a colorful bus with a large Orange Bird painted on it, parked under a clear blue sky.

Orange Bird debuted with the opening of Magic Kingdom in 1971. The orange canary was created by Disney to act as a mascot for the Florida Citrus Commission, which sponsored Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room (called Tropical Serenade when the park opened) and Sunshine Tree Terrace. Read our complete history of Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room.

The design also wraps around the back. “Disney Transport” is printed over the yellow stripe in white.
