Table of Contents
Alien Pizza Planet
Food:
Cosmic Chili Pasta – $12.49
Cheeseburger Pizza Slice – $9.49
Alien Macarooooon – $7.99
*NEW* Cosmic Chili Pasta – $12.49
Jalapeno-Cheddar Pinwheel Pasta topped with Spiced Chili, Crushed Corn Chips, and Green Onions.
Rating out of 7: 5
The pasta could have been cooked a little better. The jalapeno spice adds a great note to the dish, and the chili is good. It could have been great if the pasta wasn’t so chewy.
Cheeseburger Pizza Slice – $9.49
Burger Patties, Pickles, American & Cheddar Cheese Blend, Ketchup Tomato Sauce, and Mustard on a Sesame Seed Pizza Crust, drizzled with House Sauce
Rating out of 7: 6
It took us a moment to decide if this was pretty good or the worst thing we’d ever had. The flavor is very reminiscent of White Castle. After a few tastes, we got over the weirdness and decided this was enjoyable. We do wish there were more pickles, though.
Alien Macarooooon – $7.99
Salted Caramel Buttercream, with Chocolate Ganache and Chocolate Brownie Bites
Rating out of 7: 7
This is listed as a “Macarooooon,” in reference to the sound the Little Green Men make in the movies — but it’s a macaron, not a macaroon. It’s adorable and almost worth it just for the photos, but luckily, it’s also spectacular. It’s an iconic snack for a reason. The salted caramel is so rich and the cookie is perfectly light and crumbly.
Cafe Orleans
Food:
Earth Pass Cake – $12
*NEW* Earth Pass Cake inspired by “Soul” – $12
Lemon cream cheese mousse with mango-passion fruit compote and Brittany dough base with white chocolate-covered popping candies on a blue and green vanilla sauce with a chocolate decoration
Rating out of 7: 6
This is fantastic and the popping candy makes it extra fun. The cream cheese mousse is phenomenal and it works with the mango compote very well. The textures are well-balanced.
Carnation Cafe
Food:
Fried Bologna Sandwich – $13
Fried Bologna Sandwich inspired by “Up” – $13
Fried bologna, Monterey Jack, mustard, and mayo on white bread served with house-made chips, cinnamon apples, and a pickle spear
Rating out of 7: 7
The cheese is perfect, though it is very greasy. The sourdough bread was perfectly roasted, and the thick bologna made this so much better. It’s the perfect comfort food. The cinnamon apples, chips, and pickle are great complements.
Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor
Food:
Eye Scream Cone – $9.29
*NEW* Eye Scream Cone inspired by “Monsters, Inc.” – $9.29
Scoop of Pistachio Ice Cream dipped in Green Chocolate, garnished with a Candy Eye and Horns
Rating out of 7: 7
This is messy. There’s no easy way to eat this. But it’s so cute, it’s worth the cleanup. The description is a little confusing — this is not pistachio-flavored ice cream; it’s vanilla with pistachios in it.
Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe
Food:
“Silenzio Bruno!” Sandwich – $14.99
Sea Monster Friends Parfait – $6.79
*NEW* “Silenzio Bruno!” Sandwich – $14.99
Chopped Ham, Salami, Pepperoni, Provolone, Lettuce, Tomato, Pickled Onion, and Pepperoncini with Italian Dressing, served in an Italian Roll with House-made Chips
Rating out of 7: 6
The house-made chips are perfection. They’re fantastic, and we’re glad to see them back. They pair well with this kind of sandwich, too. It says a lot about the Disneyland Food and Beverage team that we’re going to recommend a cold-cut sandwich from a theme park. This bread tastes like real, New York-style Italian bread. All the meats taste high quality. The distribution was a little off with too much lettuce shoved in the bottom of the bun.
*NEW* Sea Monster Friends Parfait – $6.79
Layers of Graham Cracker Crumbs, Mascarpone Cheesecake, Berry Blue Gelatin, and Blue Chantilly topped with a Luca Chocolate Decoration
Rating out of 7: 7
The presentation is adorable, and the parfait is fantastic. The berry gelatin is pretty tart, but it’s balanced by the rich, creamy cheesecake and the texture from the graham cracker base. For a summer festival, both the sandwich and the parfait are great options.
Plaza Inn
Food:
Pixar Fest Cake – $7.29
Pixar Fest Cake – $7.29
Layers of yellow, blue, and red vanilla sponge cake with cream cheese frosting and chocolate Pixar Ball decoration
Rating out of 7: 7
This is an iconic returning treat from the previous Pixar festival and it’s easy to see why they brought it back. It takes a great photo and tastes just as good. Whoever is doing cakes at Disneyland deserves all the raises and praises. The cake is moist and fresh. The cream cheese frosting is sweet with a little bite to it.
Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante
Food:
The Rivera Family Huarache – $12.99
The Marigold Bridge – $6.99
*NEW* The Rivera Family Huarache – $12.99
Fried huarache with pollo asado, beans, cabbage, pepper, cotija cheese, sour cream, and lime
Rating out of 7: 2
The chicken is tender and juicy but it’s taken down by the bitter sauce. The huarache is too tough and chewy.
*NEW* The Marigold Bridge – $6.99
Tri-colored white sponge, cinnamon croquantine, cinnamon mousse, and cream cheese frosting decorated with a chocolate bridge and orange chocolate shavings
Rating out of 7: 7
This is a beautiful cupcake. This gives the Pixar Cake from Plaza Inn a run for its money. It’s rich, moist, delicate, and flavorful. There’s just a hint of cinnamon, and the frosting is decadent.
Red Rose Taverne
Beverages:
Fergus Fizz – $6.49
*NEW* Fergus Fizz inspired by “Brave” – $6.49
Cranberry-Raspberry Mix and Sprite with a Butterscotch Topper and Granola Crumble
Rating out of 7: 6
This is great. With alcohol, it’d be to die for. The cranberry makes it feel a little wintry, but it’s very refreshing. We loved this.
Refreshment Corner
Food:
BBQ Potato Dog – $15.49
*NEW* BBQ Potato Dog – $15.49
Smoked Sausage, BBQ Pulled Pork, Coleslaw, Fried Onions, and Green Onions, served in a Baked Potato
Rating out of 7: 5
This sausage reminded us of Big Thunder Ranch. The pulled pork wasn’t as good, though. The BBQ sauce was nice and sweet. The potato is cooked well and nicely flavored. This would be great for sharing.
Stage Door Cafe
Food:
“There’s a Snake on my Funnel Cake!” – $9.99
*NEW* “There’s a Snake on my Funnel Cake!” – $9.99
Funnel Cake topped with Chocolate-Peanut Butter Pudding, Cookie Crumbles, Peanut Butter Dust and a Candy Snake
Rating out of 7:
This is the worst peanut butter-chocolate combination we’ve ever had. The peanut butter flavor tastes artificial. It ruins the dish. The snake was a Cow Tale. It wasn’t pretty, but it was the best part of the funnel cake.
The Tropical Hideaway
Beverages:
Pineapple Coconut Float – $9.29
*NEW* Pineapple Coconut Float inspired by “Lava” – $9.29
Blue DOLE Pineapple-Coconut Juice topped with DOLE Whip soft serve, strawberry lava, and a gummy
Rating out of 7: 5
The pineapple juice overpowers everything. It’s good but it drowns the other flavors out. If you get enough of the strawberry “lava,” it does balance it out. DOLE Whip fans will like this and the gummy turtle is very cute.
Troubadour Tavern
Food:
Roundup BBQ Potato – $11.49
Una Papa Loca! – $10.49
Firetown Mac & Cheese Bites – $11.49
Joyful Tenders and Mac – $8.49
Mixed Emotions Popcorn – $8.79
Beverages:
Adventure is Out There! Cold Brew – $6.79
Lotso Berry Lemonade – $9.99
*NEW* Roundup BBQ Potato inspired by “Toy Story” – $11.49
Brisket Burnt Ends tossed in Coca-Cola BBQ Sauce, Creamy Slaw, Pickle Spear, and Onion-flavored Snacks
Rating out of 7: 5
The burnt ends have exactly the smoky flavor you’d expect, and the sauce is sweet. The potato doesn’t have a whole lot going on, and the toppings mostly sit on top, so the potato seems like a plain, separate item.
*NEW* Una Papa Loca! inspired by “Coco” – $10.49
Chicken Al Pastor, Cheese, Avocado Salsa, and Sour Cream, topped with Onion and Cilantro with Spiced Corn Chip Crumble
Rating out of 7: 6
Now this works as a loaded baked potato. There’s a nice layer of melted cheese, avocado, and salsa. It’s rich and creamy. The chicken is tender and nicely seasoned, though we wish there was more.
*NEW* Firetown Mac & Cheese Bites inspired by “Elemental” – $11.49
Fried Gouda Mac and Cheese Bites tossed in Four-Chile Rub
Rating out of 7: 6
These have a real kick. The mac and cheese is nicely cooked and breaks up the dish for a more complex profile.
*NEW* Mixed Emotions Popcorn inspired by “Inside Out” – $8.79
Ube-flavored Popcorn made with M&M’S chocolate candies, freeze-dried SKITTLES bite-size candies, and Pretzel Sticks
Rating out of 7: 6
Our serving did not come with pretzel sticks. The ube lends a berry flavor to the salty mix, and it pairs well with the M&Ms and freeze-dried Skittles.
*NEW* Adventure is Out There! Cold Brew inspired by “Up” – $6.79
Dark Chocolate Cold Brew with Butterscotch Topper, Wafer Cookie and Confetti Quins
Rating out of 7: 7
It’s a nice, sweet cold brew. There’s a lot of sweetness in the topping, and the butterscotch is very strong. The coffee comes through, too.
*NEW* Lotso Berry Lemonade inspired by “Toy Story” – $9.99
Strawberry-flavored Lemonade with Sweet Cream Topper and an Outshine Strawberry Fruit Bar
Rating out of 7: 6
It’s pretty good. The sweet cream topper cuts the tartness, and the berry flavor is nice and strong.
