A NEW Restaurant Is NOW OPEN at Downtown Disney

Three new restaurants are now open in the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort!

Paseo at Downtown Disney

We’ve been checking out the concept art and revealed some exciting details about what you can expect here, and later learned that Paseo and Céntrico had opened early. There was just one final spot left to open its doors, and now, that time has come!

Another brand-new restaurant just opened in the Downtown Disney District! Tiendita, the third of Michelin-Starred Chef Carlos Gaytán’s three restaurants here, is now open!

Tiendita!

Tiendita is essentially a fast-food Mexican restaurant, complete with a self-ordering kiosk and menu options like esquites (roasted corn), fish tacos, ice cream-stuffed chocolate tacos (OOH!), and chorizo breakfast burritos and chilaquiles (marinated tortilla chips with egg).

We can’t wait to try it.

You can walk up to the kiosk, place your order, pay, and then pick it up from the window! We checked it out for dinner and definitely enjoyed our meal — keep an eye out for our full review coming soon!

Tiendita full spread

Paseo and Céntrico — also brought to you by Chef Carlos Gaytán — have officially opened at Disneyland’s Downtown Disney District! We’re working our way to all of these new restaurants, but for now, we’re just excited they’ve opened a bit earlier than planned. We’ll be bringing you our full review of Paseo and Céntrico soon as well!

Paseo, Centrico, and Tiendita are all right next to each other!

The 2 Least Popular Disney World Restaurants, According to the Experts

Some Disney World restaurants are more popular than others

©Disney

To many, dining is one of the most important parts of a Walt Disney World vacation, with everything from in-demand fine dining establishments to fan favorite quick service snacks scattered across the property. However there are definitely some eateries in Disney World that aren’t quite as popular as others, and food isn’t always the main reason why.

First off, a quick note, “unpopular” as we’re using is a relative term. For starters, unpopularity doesn’t necessarily translate to a lack of diners, as Disney World is often crowded enough that even “unpopular” restaurants are packed. Secondly, “unpopular” also doesn’t necessarily mean either of these restaurants is “bad” in either food or service. Rather, for reasons we’ll get into, they’re simply not at the top of many-if any-Walt Disney World restaurant lists.

The Coral Reef check-in area.

Coral Reef Restaurant

There was a time when the Coral Reef Restaurant — located at EPCOTs Seas (originally The Living Seas) Pavilion — was arguably the most famous restaurant in Disney World. The restaurant, with its high-brow menu and massive water tank that allowed diners to view sea creatures in the pavilions massive aquarium, was heavily promoted in Walt Disney World promotional materials, and prominently featured in tie-in television episodes on shows like Full House and Boy Meets World.

Coral Reef Restaurant

So what happened?

Well, to be honest, that’s the issue. Nothing happened. The Coral Reef has barely changed over the decades, while the rest of EPCOT has arguably evolved into the “foodie” capital of Disney World thanks to a slew of popular restaurants like Le Cellier, and Les Chefs de France, as well as festivals like Food & Wine. This has somewhat left Coral Reef “in the dust” as it were. On top of that, its out-of-the way location in The Seas (a pavilion that has struggled to bring in guests in recent years, even after a Finding Nemo re-theme) doesn’t help.

Dining room

All that being said, there are definitely reasons to dine at Coral Reef. The menu, while not quIte as adventurous or exotic as some of EPCOT’s more popular eateries, is a solid offering, especially for fans of seafood, and the Chocolate Mousse Bar might be one of the property’s best under-the-radar desserts. Than of course there’s the real draw, the sea creatures. A wildlife aficionado of any age would likely welcome the change to eat literally in the midst of one of the world’s largest aquariums.

Sebastian’s Bistro

Moving outside of Walt Disney World’s theme parks, we’re heading over to the Caribbean Beach Resort to Sebastian’s Bistro. This restaurant offers arguably one of the best buffet deals on property.

Sebastian’s Bistro

For $38 per adult or $20 per child, guests can indulge in a Taste of the Caribbean Menu which includes house-baked pull-apart rolls, a salad, oven-roasted citrus chicken, slow-cooked mojo pork, grilled chili-rubbed beef, sustainable baked fish, cilantro rice and beans, vegetable stew, and grilled vegetables, and house-made coconut-pineapple bread pudding for dessert. The restaurant also offer a similar-in-flavor’s plant-based menu.

Sebastian’s Bistro

Why is Sebastian’s somewhat unpopular despite offering such a strong bag-for-one’s-buck, especially compared to many other Disney locations? First off, it’s a location issue. Caribbean Beach is a large hotel to navigate and isn’t necessarily one guests not staying at the property go out of their way to visit, despite being located on the Skyliner line. Furthermore the menu, while sounding delicious to us, might be a bit too far outside of the culinary comfort zone for some guests, especially those with young children.

Inside the dining room

Despite those issues, we would still absolutely recommend making the trip out to Caribbean Beach to Sebastian’s if the above menu sounds appealing to you.

Sebastian’s bistro rolls

We think both of these restaurants are definitely worth a try for various reasons despite their relative unpopularity. Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney dining tips.

PHOTOS: Closer Look at Merchandise for Disney Cruise Line’s Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point

During a media event this week, Disney Cruise Line shared a closer look at the merchandise that will be available on its newest private island destination, Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.

Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point Merchandise

Display of various disney-themed clothing and accessories on mannequins in a store, featuring t-shirts and a backpack, against a backdrop of colorful artwork.

The collection will include a variety of items themed to the island destination, from apparel to accessories, and even Disney Trading Pins.

A red t-shirt with a vibrant disney-themed design, displayed on a wooden table next to a mannequin, promoting "lookout cay at lighthouse point.

The collection is mostly inspired by Junkanoo, a longstanding Bahamian tradition with colorful costumes and parades. This shirt features a design inspired by Mickey Mouse, with bright shades of red and yellow, and referencing his classic shorts look.

This adult T-shirt is inspired by Goofy, and features colorful accents alongside an illustration of his green hat.

Three mannequins in a store, with the center one wearing a red disney-themed t-shirt and the others in green and pink tops, against a backdrop of colorful paintings.

This previously revealed Spirit Jersey is also part of the Junkanoo collection.

Decorative ceramic coasters with vibrant, intricate designs placed on a coarse brown fabric.

There will also be a Junkanoo-inspired pin set, featuring pins inspired by Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Pluto, and Goofy.

The character-inspired shirts feature a small chest graphic on the front, in addition to the larger illustration on the back and the Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point wordmark.

Mannequin head wearing a colorful headdress in front of a vibrant, patterned background with other mannequins visible.

This ear headband was also previously revealed, and includes the Mickey Mouse-inspired Junkanoo design.

Yellow t-shirt with a colorful mandala design and "disney lookout cay at lighthouse point" text, displayed on a store table beside mannequins.

Pluto even gets his own shirt design, decked out in bright yellow and green tones.

Mannequin displaying a blue t-shirt with a colorful disney graphic design, positioned in a store with other merchandise around.

Donald Duck’s T-shirt design includes artistic takes on his blue hat, red bowtie, feathers, and orange webbed feet.

Red and gold mouse-ear backpack displayed on a stand in a store, with clothing items and mannequin in the background.

The Junkanoo collection also includes a Mickey Mouse-inspired Loungefly mini backpack that matches the ear headband and Spirit Jersey.

Two mannequins in a store, one dressed in a blue dotted shirt and shorts, the other in a colorful sun dress, with a basket holding plush toys at their feet.

There were also two mannequins dressed up in island attire that will be available for purchase.

Mannequins in a shop display wearing summer outfits; one sports a casual shirt and shorts, another a vibrant dress, beside a colorful backpack.

This cabana set is made of blue and white striped seersucker material, with what appears to be an embroidered repeating pattern of suns and the Disney Cruise Line icon.

Here’s a closer look at the pattern. The shirt also has two pockets at the waist.

Two mannequins in a store display; the male mannequin is dressed in a short-sleeve shirt and shorts, pointing at the female mannequin wearing a colorful sundress.

This sundress is bright blue with colorful flower and sun designs. The petals of the flower have integrated Disney Cruise Line icons. The dress appears to tie at the shoulders.

Mannequin head displaying a disney minnie mouse ear headband with a colorful floral pattern and a golden bow.

There will also be an ear headband, which was also previously revealed. The ears have the same pattern as the sundress, with a straw bow and a gold-tone Disney Cruise Line medallion at the center. The headband itself is also wrapped in straw.

Straw is a major industry in the Bahamas, so it’s no surprise to see it integrated into the merchandise.

Plush toys of mickey and minnie mouse dressed in colorful outfits, sitting in a woven basket.

We also got another look at the Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse plush, which are wearing their new costumes for Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.

These costumes were created by Bahamian fashion designer, Theodore Elyett, and mark the first time in history that a celebrity designer created costumes for all eight Mickey & Friends.

We also got a first look at the island layout for Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.

Disney Cruise Line’s newest private island destination is set to open this June on the island of Eleuthera. Recently, Disney shared the full list of food and beverages that will be available on the island, as well as the latest construction update.
