REVIEW: Mickey Chocolate Mint Sandwich Cookie is a Minty Mess at Magic Kingdom

A new sweet treat has arrived at Magic Kingdom — the Mickey Chocolate Mint Sandwich Cookie, inspired by this month’s Disney Eats merchandise collection.

A display case shows a Mickey-shaped chocolate mint sandwich cookie priced at $7.79 alongside chocolate-dipped strawberries priced at $6.49, which, in my review, provides a delightful treat for all visitors.

We spotted the treat for sale in the Main Street Confectionery.

Mickey Chocolate Mint Sandwich Cookie – $7.79

A hand holds a Mickey Mouse-shaped ice cream sandwich with a chocolate cookie top, against the backdrop of a bustling theme park walkway and colorful buildings.

This cookie is just okay. If you’re really craving something minty, this is a fine choice. That being said, the mint flavor of the buttercream is not overpowering, but does give the treat a cool kick at the end.

A person holds a Mickey Mouse-shaped chocolate dessert with a green filling on Main Street in Disney World, with the Cinderella Castle visible in the background.

The cookie is nothing special, other than looking like Mickey Mouse’s head. It also doesn’t provide a strong chocolate flavor to offset the mint buttercream. What it does bring to the treat is a mess. Our cookie almost immediately crumbled with minimal handling, so we’d recommend finding somewhere to sit and eat it rather than enjoying on the go.

A hand holds a partially eaten mint chocolate chip cookie over a red table with a background of a brick-paved walkway and yellow pillars.

We’re glad we tried this, and think it’s quite cute if you can get good photos before it inevitably falls apart. That being said, we personally would not purchase this again, especially at this price point.

Rating out of 7: 4

If you are a fan of this treat, you can pick up the matching Loungefly ear headband, mini backpack, Starbucks tumbler, and Spirit Jersey as part of the monthly Disney Eats collection now.

WARNING: There’s a BIG New Eyesore in the Middle of Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Take a look at that lovely theater. Soak it in. Enjoy the view. Looks pretty nice, right? Well, you can’t really see it right now.

Hello from Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Wait, what? It’s pretty hard to make an entire building disappear, but thanks to some NEW construction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, your view walking down Hollywood Boulevard may look a little different. During our recent visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we spotted a BIG eyesore. Come take a look and see what all the fuss is about!

On May 31st, we walked through the gates of Disney’s Hollywood Studios and found quite the construction! Take a look at this MEGA lighting rig set up near Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. It’s HUGE!

Look at that!

When we got a little closer to the Chinese Theater, we noticed what seemed like a large stage in the middle of the park. Now THAT is interesting.

This thing is HUGE

Here’s a look from the other side. This angle really gives you an idea of the scale of this setup. It’s like a mini Coachella in the middle of Hollywood Studios!

You can really see the SCALE here

Behind the stage, there’s a large tent, too, likely for the talent. But speaking of the talent, what’s going on here, anyway?!

WOW!

So, we’ve had June 5th on our calendars for a while now. Why? The park is closing EXTRA early that day — 5:30PM, to be exact! The park will close early for a private event. After some investigation, we learned that Hollywood Studios is hosting the SAP Sapphire & ASUG Annual Conference, with a headlining performance by MAROON 5!

©SAP Sapphire & ASUG Annual Conference

But wait — there’s ANOTHER major celebrity attending the conference. Reese Witherspoon will be attending the closing keynote at SAP Sapphire Orlando.

For now, it seems like that large stage will be in Hollywood Studios for the next few days. If you’re planning to visit the park between now and June 6th, note that you probably won’t have a clear view of the Chinese Theater. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.

‘Encanto’ Theming Added to CommuniCore Screen, Cast Members Previewing Mickey & Friends Meet and Greet in EPCOT

During EPCOT construction, more “Encanto” theming has been added to the screen in CommuniCore Plaza and Cast Members are previewing the new Mickey & Friends meet and greet in CommuniCore Hall.

CommuniCore Plaza

A partially constructed area is surrounded by temporary fencing, with trees and plants in the foreground. Various structures and a few people are visible in the background.

When CommuniCore Hall and Plaza open on June 10, “Celebración Encanto” will debut in the Plaza. Flags adorn the overhang of the stage and colorful wraps are around the nearby columns.

A small group of people walk past a construction barrier in a park. In the background, there's a stage with colorful decorations and trees scattered throughout the area.

There are also flags along the front of the stage. The screen hanging over the stage has been decorated with a frame resembling Casita from “Encanto.”

A small stage with colorful banners hanging above, a red ladder is placed at the center. There are shrubs and a paint can in front, and trees are visible behind the stage.

There are faux shingles with foliage across the top. The sides of the frame resemble light terra cotta. Crew members were working on the screen.

A partially obscured stage is visible behind dark fencing, with green leafy trees and clear blue sky in the background. Signs with safety instructions are mounted on the fence.

A new metal panel has been added to the back of the screen, covering some of the technical elements. This is not “Encanto” themed but more inspired by the paneling of Spaceship Earth.

Outdoor area with modern concrete benches and chairs surrounded by large leafy plants. A dark-colored fence stands in the background, adorned with colorful triangular flags.

Similar designs are used on CommuniCore Hall and throughout World Celebration Gardens.

Mickey & Friends Meet and Greet

An exterior view of a building surrounded by trees and construction barriers. People are walking along a path and a few are standing near white umbrellas placed next to the barricaded walkway, reminiscent of the bustling atmosphere around CommuniCore in its prime.

On the other side of CommuniCore Hall, a gate in construction walls was opened to allow Cast Members entry for a Mickey & Friends meet and greet preview.

People are standing and sitting near a shaded seating area surrounded by green barriers in an outdoor space with palm trees and flowering plants.

Rolling planters blocked the gate and Cast Members were stationed outside. Disney recently shared a first look at the new meet and greet space. This will be the first time since the closure of Innoventions that the characters have a permanent indoor meet and greet together. Mickey and Minnie are still meeting in their Disney100 attire at the Imagination! Pavilion until June 10.

Journey of Water Station

A clear daytime view of lush trees with a white geodesic dome structure visible on the left. The sky is blue with few clouds.

More trees have been planted around the water station for Journey of Water, Inspired by “Moana.” The trees mostly block the station from guest view.

A large geodesic dome structure, reminiscent of the CommuniCore era, stands prominently under a clear blue sky. A path weaves through trees, flanked by barriers and construction equipment.

Shrubs have been planted on the ground around the trees to fill in the rest of the dirt space.

Themed Audio Replaced With Spiel in Universal Orlando Parking Garages

The themed audio that plays in the parking garages at Universal Orlando Resort has been changed. All sections now have the same guest informational spiel rather than unique audio experiences based on the parking level.

Universal Orlando Resort Parking Garage Audio Replaced

Concrete pillar in a parking garage with a black and yellow sign that features an image of King Kong, text that reads "King Kong," the number 309, and an integrated Parking Garage Audio system.

On today’s visit to Universal Orlando Resort, we noticed that changes had been made to the audio playing throughout the parking garages. Rather than each section playing its unique theme song and sound design, a generic recorded spiel has been added throughout the structure.

The video above was recorded in the “Jurassic Park” section of the parking garage. The audio is as follows:

Welcome to Universal Orlando Resort. Please make note of where you parked. To access CityWalk, Universal Studios Florida, and Islands of Adventure, please proceed to the level three walkway. Information for all parks can be found by downloading the Universal Orlando App. Please watch your step.

Before these changes, each section of the parking garage had a specific audio soundtrack. For example, the “Jurassic Park” section used to play the film’s theme song and feature dinosaurs roaring, while the “Jaws” section used to play the main theme song from the movie.

There is also new audio along the moving walkway that leads into CityWalk. The new statement is as follows:

Follow the walkway to security screening and access to CityWalk, Universal Studios Florida, and Islands of Adventure. Please watch your step.

These changes to the parking garage audio come as numerous other developments are announced ahead of the opening of Epic Universe next year.

Concept art of Starfall Racers

Earlier today, it was announced that one of the park’s upcoming attractions, Starfall Racers, has been renamed to “Stardust Racers” due to trademark infringement.

Earlier this week, Universal Orlando Resort announced that the Universal Epic Universe Preview Center will open this June at Universal CityWalk. The preview center will include a massive model of Epic Universe and allow guests to get a look at the new theme park ahead of its 2025 opening.

How do you feel about the changes to the parking garage audio? Are you going to miss each section’s unique sound design?
