Fan vs. Fant: A “Fantasmic!” Dilemma

Fantasmic! is soon to be returning to Disneyland, while it continues to play to packed houses at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. While the DNA of both shows remain the same, key differences separate the shows. From massive ships to Steamboat Willie. From Aladdin soaring, tumbling free-wheeling, to a wayfinder proclaiming “I am Moana!” Both shows remain distinctly […]

Mission: SPACE Mars Sculpture Refurbishment Continues a Year After it Began

The Mars sculpture outside of Mission: SPACE at EPCOT is still undergoing a refurbishment to combat discoloration.

Mission: Space large Mars and planet sculptures near the entrance. Visitors can be seen walking around and taking photos. A sign reads "Space 220 Restaurant" and trash bins are nearby.

The Mars structure, which houses the entrance area for the Green and Orange teams for Mission: SPACE currently has a row of nine black panels that will either be replaced or restored back to their red-orange color.

A building featuring a large, spherical structure with a multicolor pattern and a smaller sphere in front of it, resembling planets in a space-themed design. People are visible at the bottom left.

At a closer look, it is clear the left side of the planet has had its panels refurbished, while the top right still awaits an update. We first noted the wear to the red planet a year ago, with large sections going gray under the intense Florida sun. The structure was blocked off in late May of 2023, as refurbishment on the Mission: Space exterior began.

Photo of the exterior of Space 220 Restaurant, showcasing a sign with the restaurant's name along with a roped-off area in front. A person wearing white pants is walking on the left side of the image.

Elsewhere, in front of the Space 2020 Restaurant sign, another planetary mosaic has been added to the pavement.

A planet mosaic of blue, yellow, and white tiles embedded in a concrete surface. Surrounding the circle are scattered blue and white flecks on the concrete.

This planet is blue and yellow with some touches of white and gray pieces. It joins a number of galactic mosaics that have been added to Planetary Plaza since the refurbishment began.

VIDEO: Clawhauser Deflates During Zootopia Pre-Parade at Shanghai Disneyland

Officer Clawhauser had a deflation incident during the Zootopia Day Special Pre-Parade at Shanghai Disneyland recently.

Flat Clawhauser at Shanghai Disneyland

A deflated costumed Clawhauser character being escorted by a Cast Member away from the Zootopia pre-parade

X user @pomemaru_d shared a video on May 17 of Cast Members quickly escorting Clawhauser out of the pre-parade. It looks like something went wrong with the mechanism that inflates the costume and gives it shape. This caused the top half of Clawhauser to lose air and go flat.

Hopefully, Cast Members got Clawhauser some fresh donuts and he will return to the pre-parade.

The park is home to the City of Zootopia land but the pre-parade takes place in Gardens of Imagination. It’s performed at noon and 3:30 p.m. daily.
