A dancing firefly lighting effect was spotted outside of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Firefly Lighting Effect
A lighting effect meant to mimic the look of fireflies twinkling was being tested on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure during our May 16 visit to Magic Kingdom. The effect was testing on the far right of the salt mound, to the right of the Tiana’s Foods water tower, a little more than halfway up.
The lighting effect can be seen in the above image as white dots to the right of the tree that’s at the center of the image. It is faint during the daylight, and will likely be more impactful once the sun sets. You can watch the lighting in action in our video below:
The lighting effect will appear throughout the attraction, as seen in concept art, and not just in this one location. Disney has hinted that guests will “float down the river under dancing fireflies,” during the attraction. The dancing fireflies will be patrons of the bayou nightclub where Tiana’s critter friends can be seen playing their makeshift instruments.
Fireflies play an important part in the story of “The Princess and the Frog,” in addition to the theming for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. In the 2009 film, we meet Ray, a firefly friend to Tiana, who, like all fireflies in the story, becomes a wishing star. A new firefly character can be seen on the on-ride photo that will be taken of guests while on the attraction. The ride will officially open at Magic Kingdom on June 28, 2024.

Droid Depot in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has a new R-Series droid drum accessory set.
R-Series Droid Drum Accessory Set – $69.99
Like other droid accessories, this is sold separately from an actual droid. Guests can build their own R-Series or BB-Series droid at Droid Depot for $119.99. An R-Series droid resembles R2-D2, with a cylindrical body, while a BB-Series droid resembles BB-8, with an orb body.
The set is compatible with only the R-Series. The accessories attach to the droid’s “legs.”
The set includes a personality chip. These chips activate different sound effects. The chip in this set presumably encourages the droid to rock ‘n’ roll.
There are attachments that clip onto the droid’s legs. Drumsticks stick out of the droid like arms.
The accessories are all white or silver. There is a pair of hexagonal cymbals and a cymbal attachment.
The four drums are attached to each other on a curved piece. The tops of the drums are pale yellow. This piece is attached to the front of the droid.
The box features standard white and blue Droid Depot branding.
The Aurebesh on this side of the box reads “Droid Depot.”
