We got a chance to ride Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey on its first day of soft-opening at Tokyo DisneySea.
Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey
Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey is part of Frozen Kingdom, the “Frozen”-themed area in Fantasy Springs. Fantasy Springs is the new port of Tokyo DisneySea, officially opening on June 6. We rode the attraction for the first time on May 16, during a soft opening for the port.
The attraction is an abridged version of the story of “Frozen,” taking guests on a boat ride through the most memorable moments from the 2013 film. The ride starts with Grand Pabbie recalling the story of Anna and Elsa, with scenes of the sisters throughout their childhood playing on screens.
This transitions to animatronics of Anna and Elsa, with Anna knocking on the door, singing “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?”
On the other side of the spinning door, Elsa hides from her sister, attempting to conceal her ice powers.
The boat takes guests backward into the next scene, where both sisters sing “For the First Time in Forever.” Anna sings in front of a portrait wall in Arendelle Castle.
Elsa prepares for her coronation, holding her orb and scepter.
Next up, guests meet Hans, as he sings “Love is an Open Door,” with Anna.
Doors open into the next scene, as Elsa and Anna speak to one another, leading to Elsa losing control of her ice powers, covering the room in ice, as Hans and the Duke of Weselton look on.
Anna, Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven look for Elsa in the snowy mountains.
This leads to Elsa’s “Let It Go” moment, as she begins to build her ice castle.
The doors of the castle close and Anna calls for her sister, suffering from a frozen heart.
Scenes from the movie play on screens while guests once again travel backward.
In a climactic moment, Elsa unfreezes her sister.
A small drop takes guests to the town of Arendelle and the facades transform from frozen to thawed.
Kristoff, Sven, and Olaf celebrate as Anna and Elsa ice skate together.
A final scene includes an animatronic Olaf seeing guests off just before exiting the attraction.
