It’s been a busy week in Disney Parks news, and we’ve got you covered!
After talking about it for almost two years, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure officially opened at Magic Kingdom last Friday, June 28. However, there have been more than a few issues keeping people moving through the new attraction. Meanwhile, the shops are open, the merch is here, and even a few new dishes are available at the park in honor of the opening. We’ll talk all about it.
In maybe the biggest news of the week, Disney has announced that the current Genie+ program at Walt Disney World is being sunset in favor of a better and less confusing system with Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass! We’re going to let you know everything we know about the new offering and give some opinions on the updated program. Also last week,
We’ll also cover the new Hong Kong Disneyland Marvel Expansion, Oogie Boogie tickets are going fast, the July 4th offerings, and a look at the 2024 Flavors of Florida menus and scavenger hunt.
Join us for all of this tonight on ParksCenter!

Something VERY UNEXPECTED happened at Disney World this week.
Slinky Dog Dash
While MOST of the resort’s wait times stayed in the same zone they were in lastweek, one MAJOR ride saw a massive increase that led it to become the resort’s busiest ride by average wait time. Let’s take a look at the average Disney World wait times between June 21st through June 28th!
Take a look at this week’s average wait times — going from highest to lowest!
Magic Kingdom Wait Times
The Magic Kingdom’s wait times went down this week, though, as usual with this park’s wait times, none of the changes were all that significant in actual length. (NOTE: Tron Lightcycle/Run does not currently use a standby queue, it’s not included here, and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure does not have a standby queue yet. )
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train — 58 minutes
Peter Pan’s Flight — 46 minutes
Space Mountain — 43 minutes
Jungle Cruise — 40 minutes
Haunted Mansion — 33 minutes
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad — 34 minutes
Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh — 29 minutes
Space Ranger Spin
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin — 27 minutes
Enchanted Tales with Belle — 26 minutes
Astro Orbiter — 24 minutes
Pirates of the Caribbean — 22 minutes
“it’s a small world” — 18 minutes
Barnstormer featuring the Great Goofini — 16 minutes
EPCOT’s wait times pretty much stayed the same for the most part this week. The biggest change is the elimination of Test Track, which is currently closed for a massive refurbishment. (NOTE: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind does not currently use a standby queue, so it’s not included here.)
Frozen Ever After
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure — 65 minutes
Frozen Ever After — 49 minutes
Soarin’ — 35 minutes
Mission: SPACE — 25 minutes
Greenhouse
Turtle Talk with Crush — 15 minutes
Spaceship Earth — 14 minutes
Journey into Imagination — 12 minutes
The Seas with Nemo and Friends — 10 minutes
Living with the Land — 10 minutes
Gran Fiesta Tour — 10 minutes
Test Track, Awesome Planet, Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along, Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival, Impressions de France, and Reflections of China had no wait times this week.
Something weird happened at Hollywood Studios this week. Wait times for most of the park’s attractions stayed relatively the same, except for Slinky Dog Dash, Hollywood Studios’ busiest attraction, which saw a MASSIVE 16-minute jump that brought it close to a 100-minute wait AND made it Disney World’s busiest ride this week.

A new black Loungefly ear headband with a removable Minnie bow is now available at Disneyland Resort.
Black Loungefly Ear Headband With Removable Minnie Bow – $44.99
We found this black pleather Loungefly ear headband at World of Disney in Downtown Disney District. This is the same ear headband that we discovered in Emporium at Walt Disney World Resort.
The ears, bow, and bow strap all feature a woven pattern. If guests want to turn these Minnie ears into Mickey ears, they can unsnap the strap holding the bow in place and remove it.
The outside of the headband is made with textured pleather. Attached to one side of the headband is a black metal tag with the Disney and Loungefly wordmarks. The inside of the headband features black velour.
Are you happy that this new Loungefly ear headband is now available at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort?

We are constantly visiting both Disney World and Disneyland and one thing is for certain — both resorts are VASTLY different!
Disneyland
Disney World and Disneyland have a ton of differences. Featuring different accommodations, attractions, dining options, and entertainment, visiting each resort will result in wildly different experiences. In fact, if you’re a Disney World pro planning a trip to Disneyland, there’s one major rule you can almost always ignore!
The most notable difference between the two resorts is the size. In fact, Disneyland can fit insideMagic Kingdom’s parking lot! So when you’re planning a trip to Disneyland, it’s safe to say you can throw out the Disney World rule about giving yourself time for transportation — except for one special circumstance. Let us explain…
Disneyland Monorail
First things first — at Disney World, you have to account for the time that it takes to wait for transportation and the distance it takes to get between the parks and the hotels. Sometimes this can take over 30 minutes. You also have a plethora of transportation options to choose from, such as buses, the Disney Skyliner, water taxis, and the monorail.
Skyliner at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
Meanwhile, getting around the Disneyland Resort is much simpler. You can take buses and the Disneyland Monorail, but the latter is more for show, as it simply drops off near the Disneyland Hotel in Downtown Disney and Tomorrowland in Disneyland Park.
If you’re staying at the hotels on property at the Disneyland Resort or going between the two parks, folks who don’t need assistance traveling will usually get to their destination in a matter of minutes — transportation is hardly required.
The Disneyland esplanade — from here, you are feet away from everything Disneyland has to offer!
The Disneyland Esplanade is a super convenient courtyard that connects Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, and Downtown Disney. From here, everything is just a few steps away. Downtown Disney’s shops and restaurants are directly connected, you can access the hotels by going through Downtown Disney, and you can quite literally see Disneyland and Disney California Adventure’s gates from each park — no lines or public transportation required.
Esplanade
Of course, Disneyland’s compactness can be most taken advantage of by guests staying on-property, but if you’re staying nearby you probably should factor in some travel time. Parking lines are usually manageable but can be tricky in the morning and after work hours when the locals show up, and driving around the Los Angeles metropolitan area during rush hour or in the mornings can be nasty. Southern California has a bad traffic reputation, and, unfortunately, it often lives up to the reputation.
Traffic could eventually get worse when construction begins for DisneylandForward, a major theme park expansion project aiming to bring new dining, attractions, and more to the area.
A line of cars entering the Mickey & Friends parking structure
Fortunately, many Good Neighbor hotels offer shuttle service to and from the Parks, and we recommend visiting the Disneyland website to learn more about which hotels might better accommodate your stay.
All in all, when compared to Disneyland, transportation should be a non-factor for the most part when you traverse the Disneyland Resort. Often felt as a more laid-back experience altogether than Disney World, you’d be forgiven if you decide to relax a little more and take your time soaking everything in. No Skyliner shutdowns to worry about here!

EVERYONE has their own park strategy for Disney World, especially when it comes to rides.
Magic Kingdom entrance
Many of us are not going to get up early to rope drop, no matter what (we like our sleep). We’ll just get Genie+ (Disney’s paid skip-the-line service) and hit a ride’s Lightning Lane (the exclusive, paid, shorter line) later if it’s available (although with the new Genie+ changes, sleeping in may be a bit more convenient). Others are going to be at the parks BEFORE they open, either using Early Theme Park Entry, or standing in line at the front gates to get in for rope drop — then we’re going to speed walk to our favorite attractions. If you fall into that latter category, there’s one ride in Disney World you won’t be able to rope drop — even if you try.
Yes, we are ALL excited about the opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom, but if you try to rope drop this ride, well, it’s not going to work. First, Frontierland is not open for Early Theme Park Entry (reserved for people staying in Disney World hotels), so lining up for the ride just really isn’t going to happen.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
However, the biggest reason you can’t rope drop the ride is that there is no standby line. You can’t just get in line — it doesn’t work like that. If you want to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, you need to either grab a spot in the virtual queue or book a Lightning Lane selection through Genie+ (soon to be Lightning Lane Multi-Pass).
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Lightning Land and virtual queue line
To get a spot in the virtual queue line, you can try twice per day, once at 7AM and again at 1PM. You’ll do so through the My Disney Experience app. Not sure what to do? Be sure to read our Step-By-Step guide on how to use the virtual queue system at Disney World. Recently, virtual queue spots have been going FAST (we’re talking within seconds), so you may have better luck paying for Genie+ and trying to get a Lightning Lane selection that way.
When Lightning Lane Multi-Pass replaces Genie+ on July 24th, you’ll be able to get Lightning Lane selections in advance of your trip to Disney World. Disney World hotel guests will be able to grab selections as early as seven days before their trip, while everyone else can book advance selections three days before their trip. When this new system starts, that might be the best way to guarantee a ride on Disney World’s newest attraction.
New Lightning Lane changes are coming
In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.

Hellloooo, Hollywood! We love the glitz and glamor of Hollywood. You’ve got gorgeous hotels, some great rock ‘n’ roll shows, and a stunning theater. But speaking of rock ‘n’ roll shows, who wants some backstage passes?
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Now, we’ve been itching to catch an Aerosmith concert at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for MONTHS. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster has been closed since January, and we recently learned that the ride would be opening on July 1st. But thanks to a DFB tip on Instagram, we decided to visit Hollywood Studios EARLY to see what’s rockin’ at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Boy, were we in for a GOOD surprise!
Thanks to @aselinrose on Instagram, we were able to confirm that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster opened EARLY at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!Today, June 30th, the ride was in a soft opening trial.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is OPEN!
When we visited around 2PM, the line was only about 20 minutes long. As you can see, it doesn’t look like much was happening outside, but the queue was open!
SURPRISE!
Now, when we say soft opening, we mean it. The ride was NOT listed as open on the My Disney Experience app or on the Disney World website. Unless you happened to walk by and see that the ride was open, this secret soft opening was easy to miss!
The Rock Around the Shop merchandise location at the exit of the ride is open, too! Based on what we noticed, it looks like this shop still sells an assortment of classic Disney World merchandise and a few ride-specific items. (The drumsticks are a CLASSIC Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster souvenir!)
We are SO happy to see that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is back up and running — we’ve missed this ride! If you’re planning to ride, expect long lines; this tends to be a popular attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith has reopened one day early at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Reopens
Today, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith reopened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This is one day earlier than the expected July 1 that we announced on June 28. The July 1 reopening date was a change from the original July 27 reopening that was announced in May.
This is the first time that guests have been able to ride Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster since it closed for a scheduled refurbishment on January 8. Despite guests boarding the attraction, Disney has yet to make an official announcement about the reopening, and a wait time is not listed in the My Disney Experience app. The list of attractions still shows the ride as “Closed for Refurbishment.”
