BREAKING: A Slew of Disney Halloween Updates JUST ANNOUNCED!

The year has been flying by and we’ll be approaching the Halloween season in just a few months!

Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort is one of the best times to visit The Happiest Place on Earth! This season at Disneyland features Halloween decorations, themed merch, special food offerings, ride holiday overlays, the incredibly fun Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney California Adventureand more! If you’re like us and ready to hear all about this year’s festivities, you’re in luck — Disney just announced a bunch of stuff coming to this year’s Halloween Time at Disneyland!

Taking place from August 23rd through October 31st, 2024, Halloween Time at Disneyland will feature new fall looks for Mickey, Minnie, and other Disney characters, a new daytime show, new autumn-inspired food offerings, a beloved ride overlay, seasonal décor, and more!

We previously reported that Haunted Mansion is set to reopen this fall with the inclusion of a virtual queue. Additionally, Disney confirmed that the ride WILL open as the Haunted Mansion Holiday The Nightmare Before Christmas overlay. The attraction is currently closed due to a hefty refurbishment that is giving the ride a brand new outdoor queue and accompanying Madame Leota-themed store.

Haunted Mansion isn’t the only thing getting a makeover during Halloween Time — Mickey and Minnie are also getting new fall outfits!

In fact, the whole Mickey and Friends gang will be available for photo opportunities at Disneyland Park in new festive attire featuring skeleton inspirations and colorful patchwork patterns.

This year’s Halloween Time at Disneyland will also feature a first! According to Disney, Mickey’s Trick and Treat interactive show will be available as a daily offering. Per Disney, the show “encourages younger guests to join in a not-so-spooky sing and dance-along with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse at the Disney Theater in Disney California Adventure Park. With colorful projections and a lively host dressed as a mad scientist, it’s a happy haunting you’ll not soon forget!”

For nighttime entertainment, Disneyland will present Halloween Screams, a nighttime spectacular “featuring supernatural projections and other ghostly special effects viewable from in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, “it’s a small world” facade, Rivers of America, and along Main Street, U.S.A.

Select nights will even see the show feature fireworks.

Of course, it wouldn’t be Halloween Time without decorations! The iconic Mickey Pumpkin, gourd decorations, Headless Horseman, and Halloween decorations at Downtown Disney and the three Disneyland Resort hotels are all confirmed to return.

Similarly, Disney California Adventure will also have some returning theming favorites. Cars Land will feature a “ghoulish” array of Haul-O-Ween outfits and décor. Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters will also sport new temporary looks and soundtracks to become Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree and Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween.

Over in Avengers CampusGuardians of the Galaxy — Mission: BREAKOUT! will once again get a Halloween overlay, transforming into Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark. The overlay will feature menacing monsters on the loose in the Collector’s Fortress and the infamous thrilling drops. Riders will be enlisted by Rocket to distract the creatures as he tries to find Groot.

Foodies rejoice! Dining locations throughout the Disneyland Resort will offer new and returning seasonal items! You’ll be able to find Halloween funnel cake at Stage Door Café, al pastor tacos inspired by Disney and Pixar’s Coco at Paradise Garden Grill, as well as a special dining opportunity at Goofy’s Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel!

Additionally, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is getting into the Halloween spirit with an “all-new autumn-inspired breakfast and brunch, complete with seasonal décor and characters debuting new festive looks” over at Storyeller’s Cafe.

Of course, Halloween Time will also come with a ton of new merch! Disney promises a ton of new Disney Halloween-themed apparel, accessories, headwear, and other spirited garb that will be available both at the Disneyland Resort and online at the Disney Store. You’ll also be able to find Coco and Oogie Boogie Bash merchandise at Disney California Adventure.

Speaking of California Adventure, Plaza de la Familia at the park will be inspired by the traditions of Día de los Muertos and will offer “music, vibrant décor, festive foods, and exciting live entertainment” through November 2nd, 2024. Be sure to check out the Árbol de la Vida (Tree of Life) photo location and memory wall! The musical celebration of Coco will be returning this year with a new name, story, and costumes. The show will be performed several times daily so be sure to check the Disneyland app for more details!

Another confirmed returnee this year is Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit at Downtown Disney! However, the hidden pumpkin search is doing something new this year, extending to Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, as well! You can purchase an activity map in several locations at the Disneyland Resort that will aid you in your quest to claim a special collectible keepsake.

As we previously mentioned, Oogie Boogie Bash is returning to Disney California Adventure this year! This after-hours event offers rare character meet-and-greets, exclusive snacks, special merchandise, lower ride wait times, live entertainment, and more!

Ticket sale dates are as follows:

  • June 25th, 2024: Inspire Magic Key Holders (limited number of tickets available for pre-sale)
  • June 26th, 2024: All Magic Key Holders (limited number of tickets available for pre-sale)
  • June 27th, 2024: General public (limited amount of tickets available)

Tickets can be purchased on the Disneyland.com website where you’ll enter a waiting room to purchase tickets at 8:45AM PT. Sales will begin no earlier than 9AM PT. As a reminder, this is a separate ticketed event, so if you plan to visit California Adventure all day, you’ll need a regular park ticket.
