BREAKING NEWS: Disney Just Dropped Three MAJOR Haunted Mansion Announcements!

Don’t let the Halloween season sneak up on you! There’s a LOT happening at Disneyland Resort for Halloween this year, like the insanely popular (as in, sells-out-in-under-one-week) Oogie Boogie Bash. But there’s another SUPER fun perk you can experience if you visit Disneyland during the fall. And good news — this one won’t cost ya any extra money!

There is a super-detailed ride overlay (it takes WEEKS to come together) that transforms a classic Disney attraction each year. Up until this point, Disney hasn’t shared any major news about the fate of this Halloween makeover. But now, we have some important NEW details to share.

Each year, Disneyland Resort hosts Jack Skellington and Oogie Boogie at its finest mansion. That’s the Haunted Mansion, more specifically. The Nightmare Before Christmas cast takes over Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion ride for Halloween, and your ride through the mansion looks a little more…festive!

It’s an EPIC blend of Christmas, Halloween, and the classic Haunted Mansion ride we all know and love. And good news — Disney announced that Haunted Mansion Holiday will return this year!

When this ride reopens for the season, it will be a little different. In fact, we learned that the Haunted Mansion Holiday will be available to ride EXCLUSIVELY via a virtual queue when it first opens. Imagineers are working on a reimagined queue experience right now, so a big portion of the standby line is behind walls. We still don’t have an exact reopening date, and the ride has been closed since January! That said, it seems like Disney just gave us a BIG hint about when the ride could reopen.

You’ll need to use the Disneyland app to join the virtual queue. But luckily, Disney hinted that the virtual queue will only be used while the queue is under construction. We’ll be sure to share more details as we learn more about the updated queue experience.

Haunted Mansion Holiday is BACK!

Now, the virtual queue process should work the same way it does for Disney’s other attractions. If you’ve ever joined a virtual queue in Disney World to ride TRON Lightcycle / Run, for example, the process should remain the same for the Haunted Mansion Holiday ride. Just make sure to have SPEEDY reflexes — the faster you’re able to join the virtual queue, the more likely you are to get on the ride EARLY in the day.

The Halloween season will take place from August 23rd through October 31st at Disneyland Resort. Now that we have a general reopening timeline (we’re expecting this ride to open for the Halloween season), we’ve got a LOT to look forward to! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
