Captain Barbossa from the “Pirates of the Caribbean” films is roaming Adventureland in Magic Kingdom, apparently as a test for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.

Barbossa was in full pirate gear as he walked around Caribbean Plaza outside Pirates of the Caribbean. We heard a Cast Member mention guests can look out for him at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, which begins in August, suggesting this is a test for regular appearances during the party.

A person dressed as Captain Barbossa walks through an outdoor area with reddish flooring and surrounding buildings, evoking the spirit of a Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom.

We saw him on Saturday morning. No Captain Barbossa meet and greet is currently listed in the My Disney Experience app. We don’t know if he’ll continue to appear before the parties begin.

Barbossa wears a black coat, brown waistcoat, yellow sash, and a tattered black hat. Though he was roaming, he stopped for pictures and autographs.

A person in a detailed pirate costume stands confidently on stone steps, with a feathered hat and a yellow sash, in front of a building with flowers and decorative elements, evoking the spirit of Captain Barbossa at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.

Barbossa was portrayed by Geoffrey Rush in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” films. After “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” was released in 2006, Barbossa was added to the attraction as the captain of the Wicked Wench ship attacking a Spanish fortress.
