Disney Springs Area Water Taxis Reopen After Lengthy Closure

Thanks to recent rains throughout Central Florida, river levels are now high enough for Disney Springs area water taxis to operate after a lengthy closure.

People stand on a dock next to a water taxi under umbrellas. Buildings and a dome structure are visible in the background under a partly cloudy sky.

Sassagoula River Cruise boat transportation is operational once again. This means that guests staying at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort, Disney’s Old Key West Resort, and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort will be able to take advantage of the water taxi service between the resorts and Disney Springs.

The Disney Springs area water taxis had been unable to operate since the end of April because dry weather had caused the river’s water to drop to impassable levels. Over the last month and a half, guests staying at resorts along the Sassagoula River were accommodated with bus transportation.

A sign reads "Disney Dreams That Soar. Final Departures at 8pm. Please Arrive Early" placed on a pathway with railings and greenery in the background, near the water taxi stop.

Due to the “Disney Dreams That Soar” drone show, which is performed at 9 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. nightly, the final departure between Disney Springs and local resorts is 8 p.m. Since Disney Springs is open until 11 p.m. or 11:30 p.m. most nights, guests staying at one of the three resorts serviced by water taxis will be offered bus service after 8 p.m.
