Inside Out 2 has officially debuted in theaters! We have been anticipating the opening for months with lots of themed offerings in the parks including themed treats, character meet and greets, a sneak peek at the Walt Disney Presents theater, an addition to a nighttime show, and more.

Now, you can finally see the movie in theaters. We are feeling all the emotions, as Inside Out 2 had a very successful opening weekend at the box office.
The Pixar Animation Studios film, Inside Out 2, made $154 million at the domestic box office and $292 million worldwide. Inside Out 2 is a sequel to the popular Inside Out movie and follows Riley as she enters her teenage years. The teenage years mean new and more complex emotions, and that is exactly what Inside Out 2 is focused on. We are introduced to some new emotions including Anxiety, Embarrassment, and Envy.

When looking at the domestic numbers, the numbers make Inside Out 2 the largest box office opening of the year, AND the second-biggest animated box office opening of all time domestically. It is only second behind Incredibles 2. Globally, Inside Out 2 has claimed the title of the biggest global animated opening of all time. When Inside Out debuted in the summer of 2015, it opened making $90 million and eventually making $858 million worldwide. We noticed that tickets were selling fast for Inside Out 2 at Disney Springs this past weekend, and based on the numbers, it appears tickets were likely selling quick all over!

In addition to making a lot at the box office, Inside Out 2 has also received good reviews from critics and audiences alike. The movie currently has an audience score of 96% and an overall critic score of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie has also been very popular with therapists. Therapists have been grateful for the movie and are applauding its ability to make young people seem more comfortable with understanding and talking about their emotions. The movie has helped give kids an “emotional vocabulary” to help them name their feelings. Inside Out 2 has helped to show that all emotions are welcome and meaningful.

A few of our team members have had the chance to see the movie and they all loved it as well. They loved the addition of the new emotions, and one of our team members especially appreciated seeing anxiety visualized in the movie. She said it was so helpful as someone with anxiety to see it depicted the way it was in Inside Out 2. The movie had a successful opening weekend, and it is still going strong. You can still watch (or rewatch) the movie in theaters, and you will eventually be able to stream it on Disney+. However, you may be waiting a bit if you are hoping to see the movie on Disney+.
