Disney’s Newest Theme Park Expansion Is OPEN! Come With Us to Fantasy Springs at Tokyo DisneySea!

It’s a HUGE day at Tokyo Disney Resort: a brand new land…well, technically, THREE new lands have opened today in Tokyo DisneySea in a new expansion called Fantasy Springs.

Peter Pan’s Never Land

Fantasy Springs is Tokyo Disney Sea’s BIGGEST expansion and features lands dedicated to Peter Pan, Tangled, and Frozen. The expansion also includes a brand-new hotel INSIDE Fantasy Springs, Tokyo DisneySea Fantasy Springs Hotel. Well, now that Fantasy Springs is officially open, let’s take a good look at this massive new magical world.

Opening Day Crowds

Overall, the crowds we saw at the entrance to Fantasy Springs were relatively calm. It might look like there are a lot of people here, but it really isn’t as many as we expected.

Time to go inside

One thing we did notice was that Mobile Order for all three Fantasy Springs dining locations, including the Snuggly Duckling, filled up quickly. The Royal Banquet of Arendelle was sold out by 10:30AM, while the other two, the Snuggly Duckling and Lookout Cookout were sold out by 3PM. So if you do plan on dining in Fantasy Springs, you’ll want to get those Mobile Orders in ASAP. Note that you cannot eat at any of these restaurants unless you have Mobile Order — you won’t even be allowed to walk inside (or rather, we weren’t allowed to on opening day). That could change at some point.

Snuggly Duckling

Let’s talk about ride wait times — they were minimal, usually 30 minutes max. We had priority access to all the rides with our vacation package and our wait times were no longer than 10 minutes. So, yes, opening day is way calmer than we would have expected, but we have NO complaints about that!

Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival

We saw short lines most of the day for Fantasy Springs Gifts. Here’s how it worked — once you get to the front of the line, you get a merchandise ticket that allows you one transaction (but you can buy as many things as you want with that one transaction, although we did see some items that had a limit of one per transaction).

Fantasy Springs gifts

We also saw that Fantasy Springs merchandise at one of the big stores at the entrance to Tokyo DisneySea — that store had a SUPER long line to get in (because folks who didn’t get into the land still wanted to buy merchandise).

Okay, so what all is there to do in Fantasy Springs? Let’s take a look!

Frozen Kingdom

Let’s head on over to Frozen Kingdom, where we can visit the Kingdom of Arendelle. Here, you’ll be able to ride Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey which tells the story of the first Frozen movie and how sisterly love can save the day. This ride is similar to Frozen Ever After in EPCOT. Let’s just say this ride wowed us!

Every scene is so emotional

Once you’ve worked up an appetite, you can make your way over to the Royal Banquet of Arendellewhere you can dine inside Anna and Elsa’s castle. You’ll get to be part of a celebratory banquet and enjoy Arendelle’s Royal Set, a meal served in a basket full of appetizers, entrées, and dessert.

You can also grab some snacks from Oaken’s OK Foods. Yoo-hoo!

Rapunzel’s Forest

Take a deep dive into the world of Tangled by visiting Rapunzel’s Forest complete with a tower — THAT ACTUALLY  HAS RAPUNZEL IN IT. (Disney World, take notes). We’ll warn you now, though, you are going to LOSE YOUR MIND when you ride Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival, which follows Rapunzel and Flynn Rider on their romantic boat ride to the Lantern Festival.

Also, we FINALLY have a Snuggly Duckling restaurant. We waited our WHOLE LIVES for this restaurant to exist, and now, it does. It’s a quick-service dining spot with a dessert served in a frying pan (how can you resist?). But most importantly, the restaurant has a TON of amazing details you have to check out.

Inside The Snuggly Duckling

There’s even Duckling’s Dream Cheeseburger, which comes served in a duck yellow bun. We love it!

Peter Pan’s Never Land

The third land in Fantasy Springs takes you deep into the heart of Never Land. Here, you can explore a pirate ship (NO, REALLY!), as well as ride the incredible Peter Pan’s Neverland Adventure. This ride uses a combination of classic scenery with 3D, and we’ll tell you now, it feels so immersive.

I’m FLYING!

You can also enjoy the absolutely charming Fairy Tinker Bell’s Busy Buggies, where you’ll get to be like Tinker Bell and deliver packages to the four sections of Pixie Hollow (which are all based on the seasons). This ride is worth it just for the scenery. It’s so fun!

The winter area!

You can also visit The Lost Boys’ secret hideaway to get a quick meal at  Lookout CookoutThis is another dining spot where you’ll just want to look around to see all the details. It feels like The Lost Boys live here! If you get a chance to visit, be sure to just walk around a bit.

Lookout Cookout

The Snack Boxes here are pretty good, too.

Characters

Okay, so you can’t visit a Disney Park without seeing characters, right? Well, the head honcho and his main squeeze, Mickey and Minnie, are meeting guests in their Fantasy Springs outfits.

We also ran into some princesses out by the Fantasy Springs Hotel, including Ariel…
