How Will The Genie+ Changes Work With Tiana’s Bayou Adventure?

Disney recently revealed some HUGE changes coming soon to Genie+, and we’re breaking down what that might mean for your next Disney World trip.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

First up, the name “Genie+” will be going away to be replaced by Lightning Lane Multi-Pass (insert Fifth Element movie reference here…), while the Individual Lightning Lane option will be renamed Lightning Lane Single Pass. Honestly, these names make SO much more sense. But there will be other changes, too. So how will all these changes affect your trip if your priority is getting a ride on Magic Kingdom’s newest attraction, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure?

Okay, let’s back up and figure out exactly what the Lightning Lane Multi-Pass is. This is basically a service you pay for that allows you to bypass standby lines in Disney World and book Lightning Lane access for select rides. As Disney has announced that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will not have a Lightning Lane Single Pass option, it will be one of the rides included with the Multi-Pass.

One of the biggest changes is that you’ll be able to purchase Multi-Pass and make three Lightning Lane reservations in advance of your trip: seven days in advance for Disney World hotel guests and three days in advance for everyone else.  However, the changes also include ride tiers for advance selections (which might sound familiar if you remember Disney World’s old FastPass+ system). Some rides will qualify as tier 1 rides, while others will be tier 2. You’ll be able to get advance Lightning Lane bookings for one tier 1 ride and two tier 2 rides. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is one of five tier 1 rides in Magic Kingdom.

The other tier 1 rides include Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan’s Flight, and Space Mountain. That means if you want to book a Lightning Lane in advance for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, you cannot book an advance Lightning Lane for those four other rides. So you’ll have to decide which tier 1 ride is your priority.

On the day of your visit, though, once you use one advance selection (unlike previously when you had to use all three), you can make another one based on what is still available on the My Disney Experience app. So, yes, it is a lot like the old FastPass+ system except you have to pay for it now. If you do really want to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure on your day in Magic Kingdom, we think booking the Lightning Lane in advance could be your best bet, and then book the other tier 1 rides (which will likely have less demand) after you’ve gone through Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

The new Lightning Lane Multi-Pass and Single Pass will go into effect on July 24th, so if you’re visiting before that, you can just book Tiana’s Bayou Adventure through Genie+ on the day.
