New ‘The Mandalorian’ Grogu Loungefly Backpack and Spirit Jersey Available at Disneyland

New merchandise featuring Grogu, colloquially known as Baby Yoda, from “The Mandalorian” on Disney+ is now available at Disneyland Resort.

New Grogu Merchandise

On a recent visit to World of Disney at Downtown Disney District, we discovered a new Grogu Loungefly backpack and Spirit Jersey for sale.

Grogu Loungefly Backpack – $88

A hand holds a fuzzy Grogu Loungefly Backpack shaped like a character with closed eyes and open arms. The backpack, featuring a Star Wars tag, appears to be sold in a Disneyland store.

A large Grogu patch takes up the entire front of the Loungefly backpack. Grogu’s eyes are closed as his ears droop down in this detailed rendering of the fan-favorite character. A fuzzy tan collar surrounds his neck. This same fuzzy tan fabric surrounds the sleeves of Grogu’s robe. His arms poke out of the sleeves with his hands extended.

In the bottom corner of Grogu’s brown robe, a brown metal plate with the Star Wars and Loungefly wordmarks sits on a yellow patch.

Image of a Grogu Loungefly Backpack from Disneyland, featuring the beloved character Grogu from the Star Wars series, depicted with large ears, green skin, and holding a blue frog.

The rest of the backpack is made of pleather. The back of the backpack is brown. At the bottom, Grogu eats a blue Sorgan Frog. A white text bubble reads “….” above his head. Beneath him, white letters outlined in black spell “Grogu.”

The backpack straps are light green, the same color as the top of the backpack that surrounds the main blue zipper. The two side slip pockets are brown and feature two blue Sorgan frogs. Yellow pleather sticks out the top of each pocket.

A hand holding open a zippered pouch reveals a blue interior decorated with illustrations of Grogu (aka "Baby Yoda") and the name "Grogu" written repeatedly. Crumpled paper is also visible inside the pouch, evoking the charm of your favorite Grogu Loungefly Backpack from Disneyland.

The inside of the backpack is blue. Grogu fantasizes about various foods, including a yellow frog and a bowl of pink tentacles. “Grogu” is written in white lettering outlined in black.

Grogu Spirit Jersey – $54.99

A blue long-sleeve shirt featuring an animated character with large ears and big eyes, holding a cup with speech bubbles above. The shirt is displayed on a hanger next to a backpack with a similar design.

Grogu is centered at the top of this new blue Spirit Jersey eating a blue macaron. Three white thought bubbles appear above his head. A green frog is in the thought bubble to the left of his head. The middle thought bubble features a bitten blue macaron. The right thought bubble depicts pink tentacles in an orange bowl. A text bubble above Grogu’s head reads “Nom Nom.”

In the bottom corner of the jersey, the words “Star Wars” are in white on a black patch.

A blue sweatshirt on a hanger with the text "I'M JUST HERE FOR THE SNACKS" printed in large white letters on the back.

On the back of the jersey, white lettering reading “I’m Just Here for the Snacks” stretches across the shoulders.

These new items follow other Grogu merchandise that became available at Walt Disney World Resort in mid-June. Fans of Grogu will also be happy to know that a movie titled “The Mandalorian and Grogu” will go into production this year.

What do you think of the new Grogu Spirit Jersey and Loungefly backpack?

FULL LIST of Shows on the Disney Magic Cruise Ship

There are a few key things that set Disney’s cruise ships apart from other cruise lines. One thing is the theming — Kids love meeting their favorite characters, like Mickey and Minnie, on board! Another perk is the destinations, because on certain cruises you get to go to Disney’s private island destinations, Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point and Castaway Cay. But one of the biggest reasons why people choose Disney over other cruise lines is the incredible entertainment!

Disney Magic

The evening shows on Disney cruise ships are beautifully done. The stories are enchanting, the characters are familiar and fun, and the music is excellent! We recently sailed on the Disney Magic, one of the older Disney cruise ships, and really enjoyed the whole experience, especially those shows. Here’s a FULL LIST of all the evening shows, with our review of each one included!

On a Disney cruise ship, there are usually a few different evening shows, so make sure you don’t miss any of them! You can find the itinerary for your cruise on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app — check that itinerary to find out which show is playing on which night.

Disney Magic

All of the evening shows on the Disney Magic took place in the Walt Disney Theater.

Walt Disney Theater

Tangled: The Musical

Tangled: The Musical is a Broadway-style show based on the 2010 Disney movie Tangled, which tells the story of Rapunzel!

Popular characters like Rapunzel, Flynn Rider, Mother Gothel, and Maximus all appear in this show. The storyline is the same as the movie: Rapunzel escapes from the confines of her tower with the help of Flynn, and the two must defeat ruffians, thugs, and Mother Gothel to find their happily ever after.

Some popular songs from the movie make an appearance, but there are also a few new tunes: “Flower of Gold,” “Wanted Man,” and “When the Princess Returns.”

Just wait until you see the puppet used to portray Maximus — it’s amazing!

Tangled: The Musical ©DisneyCruiseLine

We LOVED this show when we saw it recently! The actor who portrayed Mother Gothel was especially incredible. All of our favorite songs from the movie were included, which was a definite plus. And that Maximus puppet was a huge hit with the audience and definitely hilarious!

Twice Charmed

Twice Charmed is an original twist on the Cinderella story. The story picks up where the first Cinderella movie left off, answering the question, “What if Cinderella never got a chance to try on the glass slipper, leaving those nasty stepsisters with another chance to get their claws into Prince Charming?”

Although many characters from the movie make an appearance (including Cinderella, Prince Charming, the Fairy Godmother, Gus and Jaq, stepsisters Anastasia and Drizella, and Lady Tremaine the evil stepmother), there’s a NEW villain featured in this story: the wicked Fairy Godfather, Franco DiFortunato!

DiFortunato aids Cinderella’s wicked stepmother in her villainous plans, transporting everyone back in time “on a mission to destroy the fateful glass slipper before Cinderella can don it.”

The music in this show is top-notch. It was created by Alan Zachery and Michael Weiner and combines pop and rock ‘n’ roll elements. Most of the music is original to this stage production, but two songs from the movie are also featured: “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo” and “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes.”

Twice Charmed ©DisneyCruiseLine

This show was by far our favorite of the three! It felt so silly and crazy and we loved the chaotic vibes. It took some inspiration from Cinderella 3: A Twist in Time, but it wasn’t fully that movie. If you’re a stickler for the classics and don’t like remakes or sequels, this show might not be to your taste, but it’s still a fun concept, and it was so well executed by all the performers. We wished we could watch it again on our cruise — We definitely would’ve gone back if it had played another night!

Disney Dreams, An Enchanted Classic

This show is the most original out of the three, merging several different Disney stories together into one tale. Characters from a few different Disney classics all come together to teach a young girl about the power of her dreams.

Anne Marie is a young girl who is having a hard time believing in fairy tales and dreams. As she begins to fall asleep one night, she’s visited by several Disney characters (“A Christmas Carol” style), and each one tells their story — complete with songs — to help her learn how to believe in herself.

You’ll see characters from Peter PanPinocchioCinderellaAladdin, and more.

Disney Dreams ©DisneyCruiseLine

This show was a very sweet note to end our cruise on. The storyline is enchanting, but we wouldn’t say it’s Disney Cruise Line’s best original play. It was exciting to see a bunch of popular characters (including some of our favorites!), but we don’t think it can really compare to Disney Believe, the show that’s on the Disney Dream cruise ship. It’s a fun show — and very fun to sing along with all the Disney songs — but not necessarily a must-see in our opinion.

UPDATE: Hurricane Beryl Upgraded to “Extremely Dangerous” Category 4 Storm

Being in Disney World a lot, particularly in the summer, means we have to keep an eye on the hurricane situation.

Rain on Main Street

The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1st through November 30th, which means Florida is often in the path of such storms. This year’s hurricane season has been predicted to be more active than previous years, and the first hurricane of the season, Hurricane Beryl, is already barreling its way through the Atlantic toward Barbados as a Category 4 storm.

According to the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Beryl, which was just a tropical storm yesterday, June 29th, is now an “extremely dangerous Category 4” storm that is approaching the windward islands of Barbados. Life-threatening winds and a storm surge are expected to arrive as early as Monday morning.

©NOAA

According to CBS News, the hurricane currently has maximum sustained winds of 130mph and is moving west at 21mph. As of 2PM ET, the storm was located at about 310 miles east-southeast of Barbados. Hurricane warnings are in effect in Barbados, St. Lucia, Grenada, St. Vincent, and the Grenadines and Tobago. Tropical storm warnings are in effect for Martinique, while a tropical storm watch is in effect in Dominica and Trinidad.

©NOAA

Beryl is already breaking records as only one of six hurricanes in Atlantic hurricane history to strengthen from a tropical depression into a major hurricane in just over 40 hours. Before it was upgraded to a Category 4, it was only one of three Category 3 hurricanes ever recorded in the Atlantic in June.

Beryl is only the second named storm of the hurricane season, which could bring 17 to 25 named storms to the Atlantic, with eight to 13 being hurricanes and four to seven being major hurricanes.

©NOAA

This weekend, thousands of people are in Barbados for the Twenty20 World Cup Cricket final, cricket’s biggest event, in the capital of Bridgetown. “We need to be ready,” Barbadian Prime Minister Mia Mottley said in a public address late Friday. “You and I know when these things happen, it is better to plan for the worst and pray for the best.”

We’ll be keeping a close eye on all the developments this hurricane season and keep you updated, so stay tuned to DFB for more.

NEWS: A NEW Store Is Open in Magic Kingdom NOW!

We’ve had a very busy week in Disney World, especially in Magic Kingdom!

Critter Co-Op

A brand new ride, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, has finally opened, and we’ve had a chance to check out some celebratory treats, as well as get a look at some ride-themed merchandise. Speaking of merchandise, though, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will have TWO gift shops and another one of those stores is NOW OPEN.

We already knew the gift shops wouldn’t open on the same day as the ride, but Critter Co-Op (the former Briar Patch shop) is open as of today, June 30th. That means you can get all your Tiana’s Bayou Adventure merchandise right after you step off the ride!

Critter Co-Op is open!

Now, we previously gave you a good first look at everything you’ll find in the store, including some fun clothing, Loungefly bags, Minnie ears, hats, tumblers, Spirit Jerseys, and more.

Merch

You’ll also find plush versions of the critters you meet on the ride and more. The hours listed for the shop for today are from 9AM-10PM, so it seems like it will be open from park open to close.  Note that you will be able to use Mobile Check-out in this shop.

Critter plushes, too!

There is another Tiana-themed shop, too, Tiana’s Bayou General which sells things like “groceries, housewares, and dry goods.”

Tiana’s Bayou General

If you’re headed to Magic Kingdom this summer to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, you’ll need to know that the ride does NOT have a standby line: you can only ride it by nabbing a spot in the virtual queue or by purchasing Genie+ (soon to be Lightning Lane Multi-Pass) and booking a Lightning Lane through that service.

Once you’re done with the ride, pop on into Critter Co-Op to celebrate and buy some fun merchandise.

New Peter Pan Hoodie Flies Into Disneyland

On a recent visit to World of Disney at Downtown Disney District, we discovered a new Peter Pan hoodie.

Peter Pan Hoodie – $54.99

A black sweatshirt features a blue Disneyland Resort design with Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, and other characters flying in front of a castle.

This black hoodie features a minimalist design. Peter Pan, Wendy, John, and Michael soar in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. The three characters are outlined in light blue, while most of their interior is the same black as the rest of the sweatshirt. The only items colored in are John’s hat, umbrella, and shoes.

Sleeping Beauty Castle is outlined in gray. Covering part of the bottom of the castle is the Disneyland Resort logo. Rather than an outline like the rest of the design, the logo is solid and light blue. There are no other designs on this hoodie, as the sleeves and back of the item are entirely black.

While Peter Pan fans visiting Disneyland Resort are likely to be pleased by this merchandise, fans visiting Walt Disney World Resort this summer may be disappointed in the lack of Peter Pan at Magic Kingdom. This is because a refurbishment for Peter Pan’s Flight is scheduled to begin on July 8, 2024. We do not know how long this closure will be since the refurbishment calendar is only available through August 20, 2024.

What do you think of the new Peter Pan hoodie? Let us know in the comments.

Should You Be Worried about COVID Again at Disney World This Summer?

Trust us — one of the worst things that can happen on your Disney World trip is getting sick.

Disney World

Of course, if you’re just dealing with something like allergies (and it happens), you can just stock up on meds from one of Disney World’s many gift shops (although it’s always a better idea to bring your allergy meds from home). However, if you end up with something like COVID-19, it could derail your entire trip. Right now, experts are reporting that there’s a surge of COVID happening this summer, and here’s how it could affect your trip to Disney World.

Granted, we are in a much different place when it comes to COVID than we were just several years ago. However, it is still very infectious, meaning it’s still a cause for concern. According to CNN, COVID levels in the U.S. have been rising over the past few weeks in at least 38 states.

Animal Kingdom Face Mask Signage in 2021

“The virus tends to replicate well and to stay alive in an environment with warm and moist conditions. That fits with what we’re seeing,” said Dr. Robert Hopkins, medical director of the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases, a nonprofit public health organization. “The South and the West are steamy and hot right now.” That means that states like Florida could very well be seeing a surge in cases.

Magic Kingdom

Getting sick on vacation isn’t a lot of fun, so if you want to protect yourself, make sure your COVID vaccination is up to date and consider masking when you’re in places with a lot of people, like airports or inside crowded buildings. You’ll also want to always wash your hands, and when you can’t, use a hand sanitizer.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

If you do get sick with COVID while in Disney World, you can protect others by not going out and wearing a mask in public spaces, according to CDC recommendations. You might also want to call guest services at your hotel to let them know what’s going on and have housekeeping paused. The front desk could also help if you need some help in getting medical attention.

If you get sick, your room is the best place for you to be

An updated COVID-19 vaccine is expected this fall that should cover the most recent strain of the virus — those should be available between mid-August and late September. The CDC has recommended that everyone ages six months and older receive an updated COVID-19 vaccine for the 2024–2025 season.

Stay tuned to DFB for more.

This Small Print CHANGES EVERYTHING About Disney World’s New Lightning Lane Multi Pass

When Disney first announced that its paid skip-the-line service was changing, we had two reactions. One: freak out. Two: put on our reading glasses and detective hats. Why? Well, often, the IMPORTANT stuff is often hiding in the little details and the fine print.

Lightning Lane sign for Tower of Terror in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

But who wants to comb through pages and pages of words? You’re not in school — you don’t want homework! Luckily, we did the work for you. After reading the small print and looking at all the details on Disney’s new Lightning Lane Single and Multi Pass, we noticed something that seems to be confusing a lot of people. Let’s talk about it!

Let’s start with the basics. Disney Genie+ was Disney’s old paid skip-the-line service. But starting July 24th, the system will be called Lightning Lane Multi-Pass, and Individual Lightning Lanes (where you paid per ride) will be called Lightning Lane Single Pass. Updates include:

  • Making Lightning Lane plans BEFORE you’re in Disney World
    • You can book your first three Lightning Lane reservations seven days before your trip if you are staying in a Disney World hotel
    • You can book your first three Lightning Lane reservations three days before your trip if you are not staying in a Disney World hotel
  • Choosing your attractions and times before purchasing
  • Booking Lightning Lane reservations for multiple vacation days, all in a single day

©Disney

Now, this one might be a bit of a throwback, but it’s important, so pay attention! Disney is also introducing (or reintroducing, technically) a tiered system for ride selections.

©Disney

Three of the Disney World parks, including Magic KingdomEPCOTand Disney’s Hollywood Studios, will group its rides into categories, and when making your first three Lightning Lane reservations, you must choose one experience from a higher-tiered group and two experiences (or all three) from a lower-tiered group. The tiered system does not apply at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Tower of Terror

If you remember using Disney’s (free) FastPass+ service, this tiered system may sound familiar! We have a full list of the rides (and ride categories) — check it out before your vacation!

Everything You Need to Know About Lightning Lane Multi Pass in Disney World

OK, that’s the stuff everyone knows. Now, let’s get into the details. Disney explained that once you redeem a selection on the day of your visit, you can choose another Multi Pass attraction. But you can’t go booking reservations whenever you want. Specifically, Disney states, “You can make one [new reservation] at a time until regular park closing (subject to availability). If your park admission includes Park Hopper benefits, you can even choose a Lightning Lane Multi Pass experience in a different theme park.”

Attraction Sign at Animal Kingdom directing Guests to Standby Line and Lightning Lane Entrances

We’ve had several readers ask if the new system limits you to three Lightning Lane reservations per day. But per Disney’s updates, you can make as many reservations as you want — as long as you book them one at a time on the day of your visit.

Disney Genie+ allows you to book the Lightning Lane for rides.

Additionally, we’ve heard some questions about how this will impact Lightning Lane “stacking.” Under the old Disney Genie+ service, you could “stack” your Lightning Lane reservations for later in the day, giving you a whole lineup of attractions to ride via the Lighting Lane back-to-back.

Scanning into a Lightning Lane at Disney World

Now that we know that you can make one additional reservation at a time, you should (in theory) be able to stack Lightning Lane reservations after redeeming your first Lightning Lane. Of course, we’re still waiting to test things out in real life, so stay tuned for our official findings.

Test Track

If you like having a whole list of rides lined up for your day, this system could work to your advantage. When the new system launches this July, we’ll be sharing all our best tips and tricks on how to use the Multi Pass to your advantage.

In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.

NEWS: Orlando Airport Adds a NEW Nonstop Flight to Disney World

There are a lot of things to consider when you’re planning a trip to Disney World.

Orlando International Airport

You’ll need to figure out a budget, as well as where you’re going to stay and what kind of park tickets you’ll need. You’ll even have to figure out how LONG you’re going to visit Disney World for. Of course, you’ll also have to actually GET there, which, for many of us, means flying. The good news is, though, that Orlando International Airport is getting new flights almost every day. Now, ANOTHER new flight has just been added to Orlando Airport.

According to The Orlando Business Journal, low-cost Canadian airline Porter Airlines will soon add a new flight to Orlando from Nova Scotia, Canada. The flight will offer service from Halifax Stanfield International Airport to Orlando International Airport starting on December 6th, as well as 14 weekly departures on its existing routes to Toronto and Ottawa.

Orlando Airport

Porter Airlines’ new Florida schedule will feature up to 126 weekly departures from cities it currently flies from, including Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Halifax. The airline will also start flying to Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Miami, and Tampa, starting this winter from West Palm Beach.

©Porter Airlines

It seems that Florida is a popular destination for Canadians. In 2023, international travel to Orlando surged, led by Canadian visitors to the state. A record 1.26 million Canadians traveled to Orlando in 2023. Now, Canadians have a new option on how to get there.

Of course, getting to Orlando International Airport is only part of getting to Disney World. You’ll also need ground transportation from the airport to Disney World. Several options are available, though, including renting a car, getting a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft, or using a shared shuttle service like Mears Connect driven by Sunshine.

Mears Connect

However, getting around Disney World is super easy — and FREE. You can grab buses, the Monorail, the Skyliner, and boats to get around the resort.

If you want to do some planning before your flight (or even on the plane!), check out our DFB Guide to Walt Disney World Dining. We’ve compiled all of our BEST tips and tricks from years of Disney World travel into one eBook that you can download to your tablet or smartphone and take with you!
