Gear up for the Holidays!

While summer just officially started last week, Disney has been looking ahead to the holiday season, releasing details on the 2024 edition of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, Jollywood Nights at Hollywood Studios, and other holiday events. Now, we’ve also gotten our first look at the medals for runDisney’s 12Ks of Christmas Virtual Races.

The 12Ks of Christmas is made up of “three virtual 4K races hosted by favorite Disney friends.” The virtual 4Ks are made up of three courses “hosted” by Donald & Daisy, Pluto, and Goofy respectively. As runDisney breaks down in their rules, “Participants track their own times, and completion is based on the honor system. Once you complete your run, visit the finisher website to submit your finish time and download your race certificate.”

If you complete the courses in the allotted time — between December 1st and December 31st — you’ll receive the special medals that double as Christmas ornaments. There are four medals, one for each of the races, plus a challenge medal for completing all three.

There’s one featuring Donald and Daisy…

… one with Pluto…

… one with Goofy…

… and the challenge medal, featuring all four of those characters, plus Micky and Minnie themselves, all decked out in their holiday best.

If you complete all three races and earn the challenge medal, all four will be shipped “at the conclusion of the event completion timeframe” to the physical address you submitted during the event registration process. In addition to all four medals, you’ll also be able to “unwrap exclusive swag like a long-sleeve hooded shirt, a holiday Corkcicle mug and a box of Twinings holiday tea. Talk about a happy holiday!”

If this all sounds appealing you, registration for the event opens up on July 9th, and costs $267. As with other runDisney events, fees for the runDisney Virtual 12Ks of Christmas are “non-refundable and include a separate processing fee.” Disney also “reserves the right to revoke any registration for any race for any reason in its sole discretion with refund of any applicable registration fees being the sole remedy of any such refusal and/or revocation.”

It is hard to believe that July 4th is coming up next week! Disney World has special fireworks and themed treats, but they aren’t the only ones celebrating the Fourth of July.

Universal Orlando Resort is also getting in on the celebration of Independence Day at both Universal Studios Florida and CityWalk. There will be special entertainment on July 4th, and we have all the details for you! There are even some ticket deals for Florida residents happening right now.

You can head to Universal Orlando Resort this July 4th for special entertainment including DJs, bands, character meet and greets, stilt walkers, and a festive pyrotechnic display. The festivities will take place at both Universal Studios Florida and at Universal CityWalk. You will need a park ticket to enter Universal Studios Florida, but the Universal CityWalk area is accessible without a park ticket and will just require that you pay for parking (although self-parking is free after 6PM.)

At Universal Studios Florida, the festivities kick off at 6:15PM and will include a live DJ, meet and greets with characters, and roaming patriotic stilt walkers. Additionally, at 10PM, there will be a special pyrotechnic display for Independence Day over the Universal Studios Florida lagoon. Guests will also be able to enjoy Universal Studio’s newest show, CineSational: A Symphonic Spectacular, at 9PM on July 4th. 

At Universal CityWalk, the celebration begins at 5PM with music from a DJ and live bands at the Plaza and Waterfront stages. The live bands will be American Sirens and Rexine. There will also be patriotic stilt walkers roaming throughout Universal CityWalk’s Promenade.

If you are a Florida resident who is thinking about heading to the Universal parks soon, there are two ticket deals that you may be interested in! The first deal is “Buy 2 Days, Get 2 Days Free on a 2-Park 2-Day Ticket.” With this deal you can get four days of access to Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure for the price of two days. You can also save up to $100 on any Florida Resident 2-Park and 3-Park Pass. Additionally, if you are hoping to book a hotel, Florida residents and Annual Passholders can save 45% on rooms at select Universal Orlando Hotels on select dates this summer.

The Anaheim Ducks changed their logo back to the original Donald Duck-inspired Mighty Ducks logo.

The Anaheim Ducks revealed the restored logo and their new uniforms in a series of X posts. The classic logo is now incorporated with the team’s modern color scheme of orange, gold, black, and white.

The logo is a hockey mask shaped like Donald Duck with angry, furrowed eyebrows. A puck-inspired circle and a triangle are behind the mask with a pair of crossed sticks.

The team’s original colors as the Might Ducks were eggplant and jade. The logo had gray shading, a jade green triangle, and yellow hockey sticks.

The refreshed version has a gold triangle, gold shading, orange hockey sticks, and orange eyes. The uniforms feature the previous logo, a D-shaped duck foot, on their shoulders.

The Walt Disney Company created the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in 1993, naming the team after their 1992 film “The Mighty Ducks.” In 2005, Disney sold the Ducks to Henry and Susan Samueli. The next year, the Samuelis announced the team would now be the Anaheim Ducks. The name change came with the new logo and color scheme. The colors are inspired by the team’s home of Orange County.

Construction walls are gone from around the Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs stand at Disney’s BoardWalk, indicating it may finally open soon.

The Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs kiosk is on the boardwalk near the edge of the lagoon. The former BoardWalk To Go kiosk was repainted with blue and yellow detailing to match the Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs branding. For now, blue curtains hang across the front windows of the stand.

A door on one side has an “Order” sign over a window. There is a display for a menu but one hasn’t been posted yet. Blue Ribbon previously announced the kiosk will serve favorites from their Disneyland Resort location including the Pickle Dog, as well as new items like the Mexican Street Corn Dog.

As signs around the stand advertise, it will also serve other snacks and beverages.

Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs was originally scheduled to open last year but they later announced it would open in 2024. An exact opening date has not been announced.
