Why the New Disney Adventure Ship May Be Doomed to Bigger CROWDS Than We’re Used To

Are you ready to set sail on an ADVENTURE?

Well, you can do so on the NEWEST ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, the Disney Adventure. Disney has finally started revealing more details about the new ship, which will have its home port based in Singapore (how’s THAT for exciting?). Yep, you’ll be able to take 3- and 4-night cruises out of Singapore, which is a first for Disney Cruise Line. Now, the ship is still under construction, but we’ve already got some concerns about it, and we’ll just say this: the size here is important.

So here’s the deal. The Disney Adventure is HUGE. It will have a capacity to have 6,700 passengers aboard PLUS around 2,500 crew members. For reference, the Disney Treasure has a capacity of 4,000 passengers with a little over 1,500 crew members, about the same as the Disney Wish. The Disney Magic only has a capacity of 2,700 passengers, with about 1,000 crew members.

Disney Wish

In other words, the Disney Adventure is going to be massive…which also could mean it’s going to be CROWDED. That means cruises onboard could feel a lot more crowded than what you might be used to on other Disney ships, especially if you typically cruise on smaller ships like the Disney Magic. Of course, you SHOULD have more room to spread out on the Disney Adventure, but that capacity could still feel a bit overwhelming.

Of course, that also means there will probably be a LOT more to do on the Disney Adventure. Disney has only revealed a few key details about the new ship, but we do know it will have the Disney Imagination Garden, an “enchanted valley” inspired by Disney’s stories over the past 100 years. The area will feature The Jungle Book, Moana, and more. It will also have an area for open-air stage performances.

The Disney Discovery Reef will be a themed area for dining and shopping based around the worlds of The Little Mermaid, Lilo & Stitch, Finding Nemo, and Luca (y’all, we are here for the Luca love!).

Alberto and Luca

There’s a poolside retreat called Wayfindber Bay that will feature some great views. This area is inspired by the Pacific Islands, as seen in Moana. Town Square is a “fantastical forest” where you’ll find shopping, dining, and entertainment venues with inspiration from Tangled, Cinderella, Frozen, and more. Marvel Landing will include attractions “and an all-new experience.” Children can enjoy Toy Story Place, an interactive water play area. Sounds incredible so far, right?

We also love that Captain Mickey will be on the bow of the ship to lead you into its new adventure.

Of course, there’s going to be SO much more going on with this ship, including dining, entertainment, and more. Watch the trailer below!

We can’t wait to learn more about the Disney Adventure — and we’ll keep you updated when Disney releases more details. So stay tuned to DFB for more.

Universal Announces NEW Details on First U.K. Theme Park

Universal has been dreaming BIG recently, and working to turn those dreams into a reality.

Shrek and Donkey and Fiona!

First, we saw Universal open Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood. We also saw a NEW DreamWorks land just open at Universal Studios Florida. Of course, we can’t talk about BIG dreams without mentioning Epic Universe, Universal Orlando’s ambitious third theme park. But Universal is also working on a big project ACROSS the pond and recently revealed a plan to build a theme park in the U.K.

According to Sky News, Universal has bought land near Bedford, U.K. to build what will become the largest theme park in Europe, as well as a new 500-room hotel and dining area. The new project is expected to generate nearly $50 billion pounds (about $63 billion U.S. dollars) in economic benefits for the entire country. The project was also bring in 20,000 jobs during the park’s construction and create 8,000 new jobs once complete.

Universal has bought almost 500 acres of land for the new park, with an option to buy an additional 60 acres. The company projects it would take around six years to build the new park.

“I can tell you it’s going to be a world-class park with all experiences that people will love based upon the most popular films, video games and stories that people have enjoyed for decades,” said Page Thompson, Universal’s president in charge of new ventures.

Universal Orlando

This would be Universal’s sixth theme park, which includes parks all over the world, including the U.S., Japan, China, and Singapore. The new park is set to become bigger than Europe’s current biggest theme park, Disneyland Paris in France.

Although it’s too early to know what kind of rides or experiences Universal is planning for the new park, the first phase of construction will consist of a theme park and a 50o-room hotel, as well as a dining area for people to come to if they don’t have a theme park ticket, similar to CityWalk at Universal Orlando.

We’ll be keeping an eye out for more updates about this new park, so stay tuned to DFB for more.

New Retro Disneyland Marquee Ear Headband Arrives at Downtown Disney District

A new retro Disneyland marquee ear headband is now available at Disneyland Resort.

Retro Disneyland Marquee Ear Headband – $34.99

A blue sequined Disneyland Ear Headband with a gold bow and a "Disneyland" sign is displayed in the store as a New Arrival. The background shows a white shirt with Disney castle prints.

We found this new retro Disneyland marquee ear headband in World of Disney in Downtown Disney District. The ears and exterior of the headband are completely covered with blue sequins. The interior of the headband is white.

A gold bow sits between the ears at the top of the headband. In front of the bow is a retro Disneyland marquee. Each letter sits in front of a rectangle of varying sizes. The rectangles are red, blue, yellow, green, and orange. There is no additional design on the back of the ear headband.

A large sign reading "Disneyland Entrance - Park & Hotel" with details about opening hours and a parade is displayed next to a road. Flags and distant buildings are visible in the background, along with excited guests wearing iconic Disneyland Ear Headbands.

The retro marquee presented in the new ear headband stood outside of Disneyland from 1958 through 1989. This is not the first time that a retro Disneyland ear headband has been made available at Disneyland Resort. In 2022, a version without sequined ears was available at World of Disney. In 2020, a version with even more sequins than the one on sale now was made available in the same location.

What do you think of the new retro ear headband? Will you be heading to Disneyland to pick it up? Let us know in the comments.

In an Empire exclusive, the first image from the highly anticipated “Agatha All Along” from Marvel Studios has been released. In the image, we get our first look at Agatha Harkness and her group of “covenless witches.” Agatha will be played by Kathryn Hahn who reprises her “WandaVision” role for which she received a Best Supporting Actress Emmy nomination. The additional “covenless witches” include Patti LuPone as Lilia, Sasheer Zamata as Jennifer, Debra Jo Rupp as Sharon, and Ali Ahn as Alice.

The image offers a first look at a basement set and the costumes of the five main characters. Each character is staring into a cellar whose wooden doors have just been pulled open by Agatha. A bluish light emits from inside the cellar.

“Agatha All Along” was first announced in October of 2021. Since then, the show has undergone numerous changes and a delay due to the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. The show will debut on Disney+ with two new episodes on September 18, 2024.

‘Inside Out 2’ Passes Original in Global Box Office Earnings

After just 15 days in theaters, “Inside Out 2” has already surpassed the original “Inside Out” at the global box office.

‘Inside Out 2’ Global Box Office

A large pink character in a hoodie stands beside an orange character with fuzzy hair, a green character, and a blue character resting on a couch, all in a colorful, futuristic room.

The magical box office run of “Inside Out 2” doesn’t show any signs of letting up. The film is already one of the 10-highest-grossing animated films in domestic box office history, and on Friday, the film’s total global box office reached $863.2 million, topping the $858.8 million made by the original. Domestically, Pixar’s newest film has already grossed over $50 million more than its predecessor.

The film is already the 38th-highest-grossing film ever at the domestic box office. This weekend it should pass “Toy Story 3” and “Toy Story 4” to become the third-highest-grossing Pixar movie ever domestically. “Incredibles 2” still holds the title as the highest-grossing animated film at the domestic box office with $608.5 million.

Two animated characters, one blue and one yellow, stand surrounded by glowing vertical lines in a dark, fantastical environment reminiscent of Inside Out 2.

Globally, “Inside Out 2” has passed “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” to become the 86th-highest-grossing film ever. It still has quite a bit of work to do before catching the highest-grossing animated film ever. That title belongs to “Frozen II” which earned $1.4 billion globally.

Forecasters are projecting that “Inside Out 2” will see continued box office success, even though it may be dethroned as the top movie of the weekend by “A Quiet Place: Day One.” (via Deadline)

Check out our review of “Inside Out 2”, and let us know what you think of the film in the comments.

These two costume changes are just the latest to take place in Magic Kingdom. In March 2024, Disney announced that Cast Members working on Main Street U.S.A. would be donning new costumes this year. Costume updates have slowly rolled out since then. In April, Cast Members at the Magic Kingdom entrance were spotted in their new attire. In May, Cast Members working at Crytal Arts, Harmony Barber Shop, and Emporium debuted their new costumes.

All of the new costumes are made from lightweight, breathable fabric and recyclable materials.
