We know a thing or two about Disney World eats — we are Disney Food Blog, after all.
So when new snacks come out that we get to try and review for you, well, we get pretty darn excited. EPCOT is known for being a haven of delicious foods and we certainly tend to agree. We’re heading to the World Showcase to check out some new eats at one of our favorite quick-service restaurants!
Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts & Barbecue in EPCOT’s American Adventure Pavilion celebrates the regions of American BBQ and serves up craft brews on tap. You’re encouraged to try any of the four house-recipe sauces while enjoying their Memphis Dry-Rub Pork Ribs, Sliced Texas Beef Brisket Sandwich, or Kansas City Half-Smoked Chicken — to name just a few entrees on the menu. Classic sides like Baked Beans with Burnt Ends and dessert options are available to complete the meal.
We stopped by to check out some new menu items, starting with the BBQ Jackfruit Sandwich! This is made with Pulled BBQ Jackfruit with Coleslaw and Onion Rings on Garlic Toast served with a choice of Side (we chose fries, of course) for $13.99.
This sandwich looks like a hot mess so we truly believed it would taste like one also, but they tricked us! Each ingredient listed on its own did not excite us (except for the onion rings, which didn’t even end up on the sandwich). But we’re happy to say we were pleasantly surprised!
We may even like this more than the barbecue jackfruit sandwich even though I can’t believe I’m saying that. Fair warning, though, abandon any belief that you are going to eat the sandwich with your hands. It is a sloppy mess and we had to give up and grab a knife and fork. It’s worth it and all the flavors together give not so much a barbecue flavor as much as a sort of vinegar and salt, sweet slaw flavor that we are obsessed with. A great sandwich for plant-based eaters and carnivores alike!
We also tried the new House Salad with Smoked Chicken for $12.29. This salad comes with Hearts of Romaine, Tomato, Red Onions, Smokey Ranch, and Cornbread Croutons with Smoked Chicken. You can also get it with Beef Brisket if that’s more your vibe.
We hope you like lettuce, because there is quite a bit here — and not quite enough dressing, in our opinion. They serve it to you as a giant wedge so you’ll need to get a knife to cut it. The lettuce is nice and crispy and fresh, though. The ranch definitely has a smoky quality that contrasts with the sweet cornbread croutons. The red onions and tomatoes help vary the texture a bit.
The strange thing about this flavor-wise is those croutons. If you get one with a bite of salad, the cornbread flavor overpowers everything else. The chicken served on the side is actually quite good — it’s very tender and moist and slathered in a smoky BBQ sauce.
Well, what are you waiting for? We’re always on the hunt for the latest and greatest new eats around the Disney World parks and more, so make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for all our reviews and food news!
