The Plaza Restaurant in Magic Kingdom is now surrounded by scaffolding that’s covered in beige scrim. Construction walls went up earlier this week and the scaffolding sits behind them.
The Plaza Restaurant Refurbishment
The scaffolding is presumably for standard repainting and refurbishment of the restaurant’s exterior. There are no signs of actual construction work yet.
The restaurant remains open, with gaps in the walls for guests and cast to reach the doors. A Plaza Restaurant sign has been added to the construction wall next to the main entrance. The walls also feature PPG Paints signs.
A sketch of the Plaza Restaurant’s facade is also on the walls. The restaurant is right next to the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor on the corner of Main Street, U.S.A. Like the rest of Main Street, their facades were inspired by turn-of-the-20th-century American architecture.
The scaffolding and scrim cover most of the facade but parts of the roof and the chimney peek out over the top.
The construction walls jut out just a few feet from the building, leaving a wide walkway available in front of it.
The green walls approximately match the backstage gate between The Plaza Restaurant and Tomorrowland Terrace.
