Test Track Construction Begins at EPCOT Following Ride’s Closure

After closing to guests on June 17, 2024, Test Track construction is underway at EPCOT.

Test Track Construction

A construction site with scaffolding and equipment is set up in front of a partially disassembled attraction with a large blue "T" sign, underneath a metal canopy.

On June 17, walls were erected around Test Track. It didn’t take long for construction crews to get to work after that. On a recent ride on the Monorail, we noticed construction workers working on the main entrance of the attraction.

In the above photo, all metal stanchions have been removed from the exterior. These stanchions and metal chains previously formed the standby, single rider, and Lightning Lane queues.

Construction equipment and pallets of materials, including cinder blocks, are scattered around the entrance of the attraction. Based on the new logo and concept art, it likely won’t be long before the Test Track marquee is removed and construction of the new one begins.

An exterior view of a large, round building partially obscured by large trees and greenery suggests the site could be for a test track construction. A green vehicle is parked on a red pavement path near the structure, adding to the scene's industrial yet natural juxtaposition.

On the walkway outside SIMporium, a generator and a pile of wood in the middle of the pathway signal that construction crews are working on both the exit and entrance at the same time.

Test Track reimagining concept art

This is the second time that Test Track has closed for a reimagining since opening to the public in 1998. The last large-scale refurbishment of the ride took place in 2012 and was nearly eight months long. The new version of the attraction will be inspired by World of Motion, the attraction that Test Track replaced.
