Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is officially OPEN in Magic Kingdom!
This is super exciting, but it also means that now there are TWO attractions with Virtual Queues in Magic Kingdom — Tiana’s and TRON Lightcycle / Run. Wondering how in the world that works? Yeah, so are we, which is why we set out to figure out IF we could book BOTH!
WAIT, hang on, before we start this post, we have to get you updated with the NEW Genie+ terminology that Disney just recently released. These changes won’t be starting until July 24th, but we want to get you familiar with the new terminology. Regular Genie+/Lightning Lanes is now called Lightning Lane Multi-Pass. Individual Lightning Lanes are now called Lighting Lane Single Pass.
Okay, now we can continue!
Both of these highly sought after attractions do not have regular standby queues at this time. TRON and Tiana’s both have a free Virtual Queue that opens at 7AM and 1PM each day, and the second option for TRON is an Individual Lighting Lane (Lightning Lane Single Pass) (separate from regular Genie+/Lightning Lane Multi-Pass).
However, the second option for Tiana’s is included in regular Genie+ (Lighting Lane Multi-Pass), which is where things get a little tricky. You can buy Genie+ (Lightning Lane Multi-Pass) starting at midnight the day of your day in the park, but you won’t be able to make your first selection until 7AM, which is also when Virtual Queues open.
So, on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure’s opening day, we tried our best to get virtual queues for both the new attraction as well as TRON Lightcycle / Run, and the news we have to report isn’t great. After all our efforts today, we were unable to even try for a TRON virtual queue while holding a Tiana’s VQ spot, as the My Disney Experience App indicated we were ineligible.
We even spoke with several Cast Members who confirmed to us that — at this time — they did not think it was within the rules to hold two virtual queue spots for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Tron Lightcycle / Run at the same time.
Note that Disney previously shared that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will not use a virtual queue forever — we expect the ride to use a standby line in the future. But, for now, you may have to choose between joining the virtual queue for TRON or Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
That said, some people are theorizing that you may be able to get a virtual queue for one ride at 7AM, ride it, and then secure the OTHER virtual queue at the 1PM drop, though we still cannot confirm if this would work in practice. Plus, it would be challenging to time things correctly! For now, it seems like the best option is to try and get the free virtual queue for one ride and pay for a Lightning Lane reservation for the other. Note that, as we said, TRON uses that Individual Lightning Lane (Lightning Lane Single Pass), and Tiana’s is part of the Genie+ (Lightning Lane Multi-Pass) lineup.
We’ll be here to keep you updated on all the latest changes with Virtual Queues and Genie+ as it prepares to change on July 24th, so stay tuned to DFB!
