Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Evening Cast Preview Canceled Following Extended Downtime

It seems that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure never recovered from its issues earlier in the day on June 3, as the attraction’s evening preview was canceled at Magic Kingdom.

A large crowd of people gathers near the entrance of a themed attraction at an amusement park, under a partly cloudy sky with trees and buildings in the background.

Cast Members crowded the area in front of the Critter Co-Op and entrance to the ride in Frontierland, waiting to be told whether their preview would go on as planned.

Cast Members and their guests could also be seen waiting on the bridge that runs in front of the attraction’s drop.

A source informed WDWNT that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has been down for some time and that Cast Members were told that if it did not open by 8 p.m., then the ride would not open at all — thus canceling the preview. Guest Relations Cast Members told those waiting that they can email management to try and reschedule their preview timeslot, but that there is no guarantee for a rain check.

As 8 p.m. came and went, it was clear that the preview would not take place, and Cast Members were informed to try and reschedule.

The ride also experienced issues earlier in the day, around mid-afternoon. Our own reporter had a preview time scheduled for noon but was turned away and told to return at 2:50 p.m., before finally being turned away and told to reschedule their preview. The ride reportedly was operational around 4:30 p.m.

Attraction previews are part of the testing and adjustment phase of a new experience prior to opening, and issues, like extended downtime, are to be expected. Those attending a preview should know that being able to ride a new attraction is not guaranteed.

During its final years of operation, Splash Mountain had regular, near-daily downtime, as well as multiple sinking logs. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure utilizes the same basic ride structure and ride vehicles as Splash Mountain, and while the ride system has been tested prior to previews, this is the first time that the ride has operated at its intended capacity. There could also be issues with the new audio-animatronics or other effects causing the downtime.

Luckily we were able to experience Tiana’s Bayou Adventure on Monday morning, and captured a full ride POV and queue tour:

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will open to all guests on June 28, following more previews for Cast Members, Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club Members, and D23 Gold Members.
