We’re back after a couple of weeks off and have so much to catch up on with you!
On June 10th, the final piece of the EPCOT multi-year re-imagining opened to the public, Communicore Hall. This new flex space includes an indoor seated hall, new restrooms, a Mickey and Friends meet and greet space, a Festival Favorites food stand, and an outdoor plaza. We’ll talk about the new area and the overall project now that it’s completed. Or is it? On June 17th, Disney closed Test Track to prepare for a renovation that was teased back at Destination D23.
Over at Magic Kingdom, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has been in previews since last we met, and now that cast members, DVC, and Annual Passholders have had a chance to experience the ride, it officially opens this Friday, June 28th! We’ll look at the merch, the stores, the food, and all the things you’ll need to know for your first trip down the bayou!
To celebrate EPCOT and Tiana opening, Disney invited the press to come to Florida to see the new space, take a ride on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and released some new information including an opening date for the Country Bear Musical Jamboree, as well as giving a glimpse of a brand new show to replace Voyage of the Little Mermaid later this year. Josh D’Amaro also said that when D23 Expo rolls around this August, there will be more announcements outside of Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. We’ll look at all this and what else Disney might be planning as they invest $17 billion into Florida over the next 2 decades. Could this finally mean a 5th gate?
Speaking of new parks, Universal gave us a preview of another land coming to Epic Universe – Dark Universe! The 6 minute video they dropped walks us through all the rides, shops, and food that they’ve dreamed up for the new land. Could this be a giant leap forward for the theme park industry?
Disney has also dropped more news about Halloween offerings on both coasts, including ticket on-sale dates for Oogie Boogie Bash at DCA, and news about opening the Haunted Mansion in time for the spooky season. Also, at Walt Disney World, they’ve been testing characters and fireworks for their celebrations.
There’s much more to discuss including 626 Day offerings, DVC updates, Holiday 2024 announcements, and another installment of our segment about strange stories called “It Came From The Parks!”
