Your packing list for Disney World might be very long, with all the different outfits, Minnie ears, travel toiletries, and shoes that you’ll want to pack for your trip. With all the items you want to bring, there’s sure to be something that gets left behind. But please — we’re begging you — DON’T let it be one of these three things!
Whenever we send someone a packing list for Disney World, there are three very important — we’d even say absolutely ESSENTIAL — items that top the list every time.

Don’t Even Think About Leaving Your Raincoat at Home!
This advice is true for Orlando year-round, but it’s especially important during the summer months, when rainstorms pop up seemingly out of nowhere on an almost daily basis. It can be bright and sunny one minute and then those storm clouds roll in within seconds and you’re caught in a veritable downpour while you’re standing in line for Slinky Dog Dash.
If you’re prepared, though, the rain doesn’t have to ruin your day! In fact, it might even help you. Lots of people who are unprepared for the rain will jump out of outdoor queues and dash into the nearest gift shop or restaurant to wait out the storm. But if you have your poncho or raincoat, you can just put it on quickly and go about your day! Many rides have shorter lines during the rain because so many people don’t want to be outside in it.
Note that this is different if a full-on storm pops up, complete with lightning. Rides that are at least partially outside will temporarily shut down if there’s lightning in the area for safety reasons.
If you’re looking for a good raincoat, we recommend this adult rain poncho! It’s lightweight and can be folded up to carry in your park bag. They have drawstring hoods, and there are buttons all down the front.
You’ll Definitely Miss Your FuelRod if You Forget It
An essential tool for your day in the Disney World theme parks is your phone. We know that not everyone wants to rely on their phone and the My Disney Experience app while they’re on vacation, but love it or hate it, that app has some super useful (and sometimes non-avoidable) features.
Want to use Genie+ to skip the lines? That’s where it lives. Looking to skip even MORE lines by using Mobile Order to get your food? Gotta open the app again. Got lost looking for the bathrooms in Tomorrowland? The app can show you where the bathrooms are AND help you navigate back to somewhere you’re familiar with.
Because you might be using your phone a LOT, there’s a decent chance that it will run out of battery before the day is over. That’s why we NEVER leave our house for Disney World without a FuelRod.
The FuelRod is our go-to portable charger for a few reasons: First, it’s pretty compact, so it’s easy to toss into our park bag or even a small belt bag. Second, after you use it, you can swap out your empty FuelRod for a fully charged one at any FuelRod kiosk in the parks! These kiosks not only exist throughout Disney World — they’re located at airports, malls, and theme parks nationwide.
Make sure to pick one up before your vacation!
Moleskin Could SAVE Your Entire Vacation — Trust Us
If there’s one thing that can totally ruin a Disney World trip, it’s a painful blister on your foot. Maybe you ignored our advice and wore brand-new shoes in the park, or maybe your socks got wet in one of those pop-up summer rainstorms and you didn’t have time to dry them out before you started walking around again. Whatever happened, you don’t want to just keep walking around and making it worse.
To save the day, make sure you have some moleskin in your park bag. You can stick it onto your foot, and it will prevent friction between the shoe or sock and your foot, thus alleviating your pain. These moleskin pads come in a variety of shapes to fit your needs.
