Disney Adults have an impressive knowledge of all things Disney.

As Disney Adults ourselves, we happen to know a thing or two about Disney parks. For us, Disney lingo is completely normal; we are on the group map when we visit the parks, and we know all the best places to eat. To us, this is normal, but to others, they just might not get it. We will be in the parks and hear something that is so painfully wrong. We know we are not alone in this, and there are five things that Disney Adults understand right away, whereas normal people would be confused.

Sometimes it can seem like Disney Adults speak their own language and for us, as Disney Adults these five things are like second nature to us, but it may not be second nature to others.

1. Funny Food Names 

There are the classic Disney snacks that even non-Disney adults know; you have the Mickey Pretzel, Mickey Ice Cream Bar and Sandwich, churro, and popcorn. Everyone knows what these are, but there are some Disney World foods that have funky names.

For Disney Adults, some of our favorite foods include Cheeseburger Pods, which are delicious, but a normal person may wonder why we want to eat our food in pod shape. But then there are the more obscure names like Blue and Green Milk. Who wants to drink different colored milk? Well, Disney Adults! Even if you do not get one every time you visit Galaxy’s Edge, it is a staple of Batuu. 

Another Star Wars food that we love is Ronto Wraps! Now, a normal person might ask, what is a Ronto Wrap? And let me tell you this out-of-this-world (literally) wrap is grilled pork sausage, peppercorn sauce, and slaw, all wrapped up in pita bread. There is even a version for breakfast! The Morning Wrap has eggs, grilled pork sausage, shredded cheddar, and peppercorn sauce in pita bread. 

One of our favorite obscure foods is Tonga Toast, which can be found at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort at both Capt. Cook’s and Kona Cafe. This thing is HUGE. This delicious way to start your morning is banana-stuffed sourdough french toast rolled in cinnamon sugar, and it is served with a strawberry compote. We will go out of our way to have this for breakfast! If you are staying at the Polynesian or want to stop for breakfast before a day in Magic Kingdom, we recommend ordering Tonga Toast!

2. The Fact that Peter Pan’s Flight has a Long Wait… like ALWAYS

Peter Pan’s Flight is a dark ride in Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom and it always boasts high wait times. You get to fly in a pirate ship over the Darling’s house, and then you are off to Neverland!

This ride is cute, and while it is cool that you get to “fly,” as Disney Adults, we can never justify waiting that long for a slow-moving dark ride. We can’t lie, though. If there is a short wait, we are for sure hopping in line because it is rare to see it drop to a decent wait.

Peter Pan’s Flight is getting a little break right now as it is currently closed for refurbishment, but don’t worry when it opens again on August 21st we are sure the wait times will be very high as usual.

3. Disney World Acronyms 

Swifties have their acronyms like IKYWT for I Knew You Were Trouble and YOYOK for You’re On Your Own Kid. Well Disney World also has a long list of acronyms that Disney Adults know right away, but they might not ring a bell with normal people.

For example, if I texted my non-Disney Adult friends that I am so excited to attend MNSSHP next month, they would be SO confused. Disney Adults know that this acronym stands for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. 

Another example of this would be MVMCP, which, of course, stands for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party!

If we texted someone that we were about to ride COP, they would wonder what we meant. Disney Adults know that it stands for Carousel of Progress, which is a Tomorrowland staple. 

If you get on the monorail, you may say, “We are getting off at the TTC.” Well, we all know that it stands for the Transportation and Ticket Center, but to others, that is just Magic Kingdom parking. 

4. You Can’t Just Walk Up to Characters

Now, this is a little different for Disneyland, but in Disney World, when you see a character roaming, odds are they are either trying to get to their meet-and-greet location or leaving. 

It is totally understandable to see your favorite character in the park and want to run up to them to get a picture or ask for an autograph, but this can make a Disney Adult cringe. 

Most of the time, characters can not stop to do these things because then a line could form of other people wanting the same treatment. Stopping for one person sets the precedent that the character has to stop for every one. 

There is nothing wrong with a friendly hello, but remember to be respectful and wait until the character returns to their meet-and-greet location, where they will be more than happy to pose for pictures and sign autographs.

5. There is No Harry Potter Land in Disney World

It can be tough to be in Disney World and see someone wearing a Minions shirt or a Harry Potter Wizard Robe, knowing that they think they can meet those characters in Disney World.

Universal is a completely different theme park and company from Disney. Former Cast Members on our team have shared that people have asked them multiple times where the Harry Potter Land is, and it can be tough letting them down and telling them that they are at a completely different resort. 

It may seem obvious to a Disney Adult, but to a normal person, it can feel like Disney owns everything, so why wouldn’t they own Harry Potter, too? But they will have to drive over to Universal Studios if they want to take the Hogwarts Express or escape Gringotts.

It is funny to think that these five things are totally normal to us Disney Adults but it may take some explaining for our non-Disney Adult friends!
