DAS Defenders Reach Fundraising Goal for Billboard at D23

The DAS Defenders group of disability advocates plans to have a mobile billboard appear in Anaheim during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.

The DAS Defenders, who formed in response to Disney’s controversial Disability Access Service changes, hope the billboard will spread the word about their concerns and get their message directly in front of Disney executives, press, and influencers.

They have been raising money via a GoFundMe campaign. The quoted cost of the billboard plus GoFundMe’s cut was $1,600, which they have already raised. They also reached their secondary goal of $2,500 to establish an official non-profit for regular fundraising and more. The GoFundMe campaign is still open with any extra money raised going to further advocacy such as additional days of the billboard and online ads.

The billboard will circle Anaheim Convention Center, the Disneyland entrance, and local hotels on public roads during D23. The billboard will include a QR code to their Change.org petition, which currently has almost 28,000 signatures.

D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event will be this August 8 – 11. August 8 will be their first-ever D23 Day at Disneyland Resort, while the rest of the convention will take place from the 9th through 11th.
